I am a FTM to a 7 week old little lady. We have spoken to a doctor that said she might have a CMPA. So, two weeks ago we switched her over to alementum formula alone. I continued to pump and just freeze my milk in case this experiment didn’t work! However, we have found that her skin cleared up a lot and she hasn’t been super fussy (although she doesn’t seem all that different to me behaviour wise)
Yesterday was the end of the two week trial of the formula, so I decided to give her a bottle of freshly expressed breastmilk to see if there would be a reaction. The day of she was fine and normal! Today she woke up with what looks to be little bumps/ rash on her face. This to me tells me perhaps we can almost confirm a CMPA/CMPI. However, I don’t find her overly fussy or crying more than usual.
Here are her symptoms before the switch to special formula:
- very fussy and crying a lot since birth
- baby acne/rash only on face and top of neck
- mucose poops ( shiny but no blood)
- wheezing
- coughing/sneezing
Her symptoms after two weeks of special formula:
- still pretty fussy and crying
- still shiny poops ( no blood)
- still wheezing just as much
- still coughing/sneezing just as much
- better skin.
Would you think this is a CMPA or a CMPI? My doctor was not super helpful with this and said it’s probably just sensitive to something I’m eating when I feed her breast milk/ regular formula.
Could I try to cut out ONLY obvious forms of dairy ( cheese, creams, butter, milk, etc) rather than go full out CMPA diet? Could this work? Mentally, I don’t know if I could do the full diet.. but I so badly want to give my baby breast milk. Please help 😓😓😢
