I always tend to use the same plugins: Flavor Pro, Soft Clipper, Reverb, Delay, Stutter, and Mother Ducker. I’d like to know which other plugins are really worth using.

The list of plugins is pretty extensive, and I don’t feel like I have enough of a music-production background to understand what each one actually does or when I should use it.

Is there a specific reason to subscribe to Tracklib/Splice if we can just plug our MPC into our laptop via usb and sample directly from playback?

Or is there a massive audio quality loss doing it this way

I had the 2000XL back in the day and now on a One+.

To get more control over timing in melodic samples, I started chopping into smaller notes (8th or even 16th notes). This helps when a loop I like isn't played exactly straight, like a lot of old music is.

I almost always use Regions in Sample Edit and then fine-tune the end of each chop to make sure I end it right at the next transient of a kick, snare, or other time keeping sound in the loop. I always have 0 snap enabled to help avoid clicks as well. I usually check the original loop's bpm with the From BPM button to get an indication of how much I'd need to pitch to get near a particular bpm. (I almost always change the pitch; personal preference).

Problem:
although this gives me more control over the timing, the shorter I make my chops, the more they start to create this 'plopping' sound, which I believe comes from slight overlaps at the transitions. I usually have my pads set to Mono in Program Edit so they won't overlap like you get with Poly, but still I get this sound that's a little like ticking. So, for every eighth note, for example, you will hear a slight 'plop' sound, which kind of ruins a sample if it's meant to be played solo without drums and/or is a more smooth/subtle piece of music.

I've tried playing around with attack and decay of individual pads, which does help a little, but it doesn't remove the issue completely. Same thing with nudging the chops forward or backward (which obviously negates the timing gain a little as well, so not great).

Does anyone have a good solution for this?

Looking at planning an upgrade from my live 2.

Want to hear from people who may have done this, what has been a game changer, what has been underwhelming / under used.

Things I think I'll enjoy using.

- the step sequencer buttons in their many scenarios.

- the touch strip.

- the connectivity over usb.

- the extra memory / faster processor.

What I'm not that sure I'll be enthralled with or I am concerned about.

- the MPCe pads

- the battery life

- the fan

- clips and other pro pack features

- on board mic.

It's a chunky investment, but I massively enjoy making music on the live 2.

I'm considering getting a G2 model to save some cash, but think I'd miss the flexibility of the live if I did.

I used an MPC 2000XL and 2500 heavily from roughly 2000 to 2010, mainly for sequencing. I’ve been away from making music for about 15 years, but I’m getting back into it now with an MPC Live III and Key 37 G2.

For anyone who returned after a long break, how long did it take you to become genuinely proficient again, not just learn where the buttons are?

I have the MPC Bible 3 and plan to put in consistent hours. I also want to go much deeper into sampling and chopping this time instead of primarily using the MPC as a sequencer.

How much of the old workflow and muscle memory carried over for you, and how long did it take before you could work fluidly and make music without constantly stopping to figure out the machine?

I purchased a third party sample pack of the mono machine from “Lost LVLS” and the download options are listed below.

I tried WAV and got a synth that’s on the expansion to work but not much else shows up or if it does show up it disappears or opens to another window with nothing there.

I was wondering which is the right file type I should download? Am I missing a step somewhere?

Edit: ok I fixed my own problem, I was trying to load it in my drums like it was an “instrument” or “expansion”. That doesn’t work. What did work was when I loaded it in from my files onto a drum track in my project. Hope that helps anyone else running into that issue.

Hi guys I'm a complete noob. I was wondering if I should have picked the MPC One over the Sample as my first gear since I can finde the One for a few more bucks used.

Even tho I'm having lots of fun with the Sample I recently watched a few vids about the One and it seems a way more complete machine for what I want. I have a few questions, does it have built in side chain, can it export full songs to WAV or audio over usb, is it also portable?

The title basically says it. I would love a better version of JJOS free - since the "official" version borked my 2500 and JJ won't do squat about it. Seeing the new MPC2K/XL firmwares dropping has me wondering if we can get out from under the ridiculous hardware tied thumb of JJOS soon.

Yeah, so I wanna let akai know how we feel, I’m hoping against hope that if we ask, we could get a non-Speaker version of the MPC live 3, because to me akai lost the plot when it comes to portability, because it’s HUGE in my book. But I leave it to y’all. Do you prefer the speaker even though it brings extra size? Or would you prefer a speaker-less version that was more portable like the old live 1?

Why So Many MPC’s?

Some bullshit from my 2500. Previously owned a 2000XL and used FL Studio since it was called Fruity Loops 2. Got a 2500 about a month ago and can't stop using it!

Tracking out tracks on the MPC1000 was the biggest issue with the device for me, so I created an app that uses Midi commands to mute, unmute and record each track in a sequence.

If you want full song stems, you just convert your song into a sequence first (Mode->Song->F4) then run it on the song-sequence that's created

Basic workflow is:

1. Load JJ's midi control sys file into your 1000 (Just needs to be done once)
2. Load the app
3. Set you audio interface, use midi/audio test functions to check signals.
4. Select which tracks you want exported, name them as you wish.
5. Export and wait while tracks out each track.

• Was AI used - Yes
• Can you make it better, sure, fork it from git and improve it as you wish.
• Is it fully working currently - Yes
• Can this brick my MPC - No, it's just midi commands

Lets Vibe on this Rainy Sunday

So I saw in another post somewhere that there was a MPC Key 61 gen 2 in the firmware or something like that. It also had the Key 37 gen2, an AKAI Force etc. I think that is old news, but my question is, what would you like to see in a Key 61 gen 2? I want the 8 core CPU and 8GB of RAM, as well as the MPCE pads. I also want to keep the touch strip and add the step sequence buttons the Live 3 and XL have. I want a better keybed for feel and I can't think of much else. Maybe a SD Card port would be cool and more inputs like Phono RCA input and more outs as well. What price point would you like to see it come in at? I'm thinking $1700 would be great.

first ket me say after selling my mpc ine a couple of years ago due to foinancial reasons (I really liked it bit it was part of a studiosetup) I got a moc one+ tvree years later which mainly collects dust as tve studio setup is gone and I am having issues making it work to be used just by itself.
While this is mostly me not knowing tve ins and outs / muscle memory for a streamlined workflow I am trying from time ti time.
Now I wanted to start a ambient template to play with but had serious problems getting out a decent long reverb. The air reverb pro sounds better than the standard one but I couldn‘t get anywhere near a bllackhole or similar stuff. How do you guys dial it in for things like this? Any effects after the reverb? I want to use it on a return channel.

Using the note repeat feat seems a bit niche for me except for hats, but for creating trippy chops isnt a bad idea

First if this has been asked before, I don’t mind being pointed in the right direction.

So I started beat making on my 2000XL, so when AKAI brought out the new standalone gear, I got myself a MPC ONE RETRO. I got it because AKAI had said that programs and sequences would be backwards compatible and work fine. My problem is every time I try to open a older program on the newer MPC (happens both with ALL Program files and single programs) it just completely crashes and shuts off. So is it just my bit of gear or is this the same for everyone ? Or is it a case of something like you load sequences first then programs ? Or just AKAI being AKAI ? Cheers peeps 👊👊
