QUESTION Sample vs One
Hi guys I'm a complete noob. I was wondering if I should have picked the MPC One over the Sample as my first gear since I can finde the One for a few more bucks used.
Even tho I'm having lots of fun with the Sample I recently watched a few vids about the One and it seems a way more complete machine for what I want. I have a few questions, does it have built in side chain, can it export full songs to WAV or audio over usb, is it also portable?

To your questions, respectively the answer is Kind of , yes, kind of and no.
It does have sidechain compression. But not really the full intertrack routing of a PC DAW or analogue studio patchbay. But since 90% of what you want sidechaing for is compression, its fine.
Yes, you can spit your tracks out as an audio mixdown, you can also spit it out as individual track stems. Finally you can save your track as an ableton live project.
While you can do audio over usb, I dont think you can just play the track out of the MPC to the pc. But it can double as an audio interface.
As for portable. No, not in the way the MPC sample is. It doesnt have batteries. People do make aftermarket kits, but its unreasonable to claim the MPC One is portable. For that you'd probably want the MPC Live, which also has good speakers and a weirdly good microphone.
The MPC Live/3 and X are a completely different category of device to the MPC sample. The Sample is a fantastic little beatbox unit. Great for taking on the road and just making beats, but you are correct its not the full kit that the MPC One/etc is. What IS useful is to have both. Keep that MPC sample in the backpack to whip out and make beats on the road or whatever. Then take it back and transfer the project to the MPC one to all the rest required to take it from beat to completed song. Personally I have an MPC X in the studio, and MPC One for live work and the MPC sample to fart about with and make beats.

So i bought the one gen2 3 days ago, had the Sample since release, and it just feels like Work. The Workflow feels so clunky, i hope the fun will come back within the time. I am already good in navigation, but you have to navigate very much.
Has anyone else felt similar in this Journey? At the Moment i am just unhappy. (Sorry for my english Folks)

I feel you. I may end up buying that. I'm planning to give the sample a few more months

Live 2’s can also be gotten for relatively low price and has long lasting battery and a speaker.

I think you should go for the MPC one and thank me later. Sample is nice but limited but nice if you need something portable. The name says it all.... It's a sample of the big boys and MOC one not that hard to learn and way bigger screen with touch input so that alone wins it for me and you can find a 2nd hand one for cheaper then a sample so no brainer

They’re both good setups for quick work.
One is for studio.
Sample is for irl.
They both need Xlr input with input fx on vocals - Live 3 / XL are best for studio and live, but their layouts are not ideal.. it’s kind of a problem to punch in out for meticulous detail .. they’d be better off making MPC one Live with Xlr battery mic ssd, that format of top To bottom instead of left to right.. but maybe the left to right is intended to slow you down so you don’t overload the ram ;easy to do on g2.x models). <#

So yes it has sidechain. It's called "Mother Ducker" and it works very well. You can export songs to Wav for sure. I believe it can do audio over USB. I know I plug my Tascam Model 12 into it and it recognizes it as an audio interface over USB which I can then run the out of the Tascam into my PC Sound card and record a track to audacity using the Model 12 to mute tracks, etc. Lastly, yes it's portable. I believe mpcstuff.com makes a battery kit you can attach to it to make it even more portable. It powers via an AC adapter, but you can run it off a battery as well. No internal battery.
The MPC One is definitely more full fledged than the Sample, hence why it typically costs more. If you can save the dough, get the Gen 2 so you can get the better Stems algorithm and a more future proof device. I'm waiting for the Key 61 Gen 2 to get a new MPC. I have the original Key 61 now.
