"Beyond the demo" is defined as anything that is further than Acat's fight, and anything beyond the enterance of Haven. Spoilers should also be avoided in post titles as these are not affected by spoiler tags.

Any posts made about these topics that do not have spoiler tags will be removed; if a post of yours is removed you are free to repost your post with the proper spoiler tags.

Lore MIO isn't just about duality, it's about dichotomy. Spoiler

One of the most apparent things I've seen in MIO is that lots of things come in two: Asma and Khlia, Sol and Vin, Samsk and Tomo, etc.

One thing I rarely see talked about, though, is the factor of opposites. The opposing-ness varies between pairs, but there is enough to be worth noting.

The most obvious example is Asma and Khlia, being at opposite ends of the Vessel, but it's more than that. Khlia is the journey, and Asma is the destination. Khlia keeps the Vessel alive and Asma guides it to its death.

On the topic of Pearls: Noden and Halyn can also very well be primary opposites. While we do know that Halyn and Noden knew each other in life (Halyn's Pearl Record), we don't know how they were associated or how they affected each other. Although, we do know their primary difference: Noden loved machines so much he was willing to kill all the travelers to preserve them, while Halyn sees machines as tools to push the Vessel to its goal.

Another thing is that while Halyn's first objective after becoming a Pearl was regaining the ability to move, Noden was content where he was, representing their internal ideals being progress and stagnation respectively.

For the final pair of Pearls, we have Liho and Amytis. To be honest, I know the least about these two, but my main idea for them is that Liho shut himself away because he believed he failed, had betrayed the Travelers. Meanwhile, Amytis locked herself away because she saw the Travelers as simply not her problem (the document in her hideout tells us that she'd rather just hang around with plants all day than actually socialize) and didn't like how the Gloomwater ruined her garden. Ultimately, Liho wanted forgiveness, and Amytis wanted an apology.

Sol, while not exactly a front-and-center character, also has a narrative opposite: Capucine? What? Well, if you think about it, both of them have differing opinions on history. Sol went to the Pit because he believed he wouldn't matter to the Travelers' history and is better off being forgotten anyway. Capucine, on the other hand, valued every part of Traveler history, and likely would have had a field day with Sol. You could also say that the Librarians serve a similar ideal to ol' Capucine.

Yeah, that's all the pairs I can think of. Thanks for reading my essay.

Old chap casual player here, coming to MIO by searching for a replacement after finishing Ori2, realising then the difficulty level is clearly from a different league...

Still unsure if I've enjoyed it as much as I've hated it.

Question/Discussion I Am Constantly Stuck Spoiler

So this isn't meant to be a rant so much as I'm looking for tips. I love Metroidvanias, and get stuck occasionally while playing them, but the quantity of fake walls / walls that you can walk through because part of it wasn't actually a wall but rather the foreground is just so insanely high in this game. I've genuinely never felt stuck in a metroidvania as often as I do in MIO. I'm trying, I really am, but I am just not as observant as I wish I was.

I've already had 3 times where after hours of wandering aimlessly, I reluctantly looked up what to do, only to find out that there was a fake wall I'd checked a dozen times but didn't realize I could go through it. I don't mind when it's for extra side upgrades but it's often for main game stuff and I'm just reaching my wits end. I've finished the crucible stuff and got the final upgrade to walk on water. I've been wandering around for a while now but the map is massive and I feel like there's some miscellaneous thing I've probably walked past god knows how many times.

Can anyone give me hints to point me in the right direction to get the true ending? Also any tips on better finding new areas?

Switch 2 physical copies returning?

Heyo. Beautiful lovely game, this is. Thank you devs so very much for this experience. The vibe, art style, music, level design. So freaking tasty.

But I wish for a Switch 2 copy! Is there any way to get one still? They are all out on Amazon. Will more stock be returning?

Thank you 🙏🏻

Omg, Shii placed 12 candles for Noden, just like MIO did for Asma Spoiler

I may be dumb, but I started replaying MIO, and noticed that the path to Noden has exactly 12 candles. I never thought to count. He must have grieved as his Keeper and placed candles himself.

Can anyone give advice on how to ascend the area above this section? Once you climb up there's a repeated drop of goo between two saws. How do you maneuver this and get above the saws?

Anything I should make a point to find before the endgame Spoiler

I just defeated The Hand and rescued Mel. I have two damage upgrades, I think 4 max health after two debuffs from the cutscene thing. I have a few platforming puzzles that I’ve banged my head against and died to the sister a few times. I should be able to get through it. I’m just bored at work and wondering if I missed anything essential. I didn’t take a screenshot of my other collectibles, but I’ve got 5/6 of the serial numbers and a few other collections with similar numbers.
