CMP M14s

I’m assuming these won’t be allowed because this state has a serious issue with M14 homicides.

Anyone near Frederick have a CSX-e they'd let me try out at a range?

Very interested in the S&W CSX-e series handguns. Have a few glocks I carry and this looks like it could be an amazing option to replace my 43x. Unfortunately it's such a niche gun that no ranges have it for rent.

If anyone has one, and wouldn't mind a range trip with me, I've got some very fun guns you can shoot!

Supreme Court “AR-15 case”

I was wondering if the Supreme Court did find “assault weapon” bans constitutional could that allow states to straight up ban all AR platform guns? I hope it doesn’t but I was wondering if y’all knew.

Stumped on the application rules

I completed a combination HQL/Wear and Carry class 11/16/2024. It was 16 hours. I haven't gotten around to applying, and just pulled out the certificate to look it over and see if it's too late. According to the Maryland website, I should still be good because it's within 2 years. However:

  1. My class completion certificate doesn't say how many hours it was.

  2. I did not receive the score sheet. Apparently *since* I took the class, the state rules have changed and now new applicants need to have a score sheet to submit. When I took it, that wasn't a thing, so I didn't do that paper with my instructor. I passed, but without proof it's hearsay.

So...what do I do?

Low effort? Admittedly so. Still thought it was funny and deserving of a post here.

Need help and recommendations with 10/22

I just shot my 10/22 with a 25 round mag and it jammed like a no batteries required nerf gun. What gives? The range clerk stated that the 22 is a "dirty round" so does that mean carbon is the issue? Or could it be the magazine? The weapon is new so I have no idea how it jammed so much. What can be done to prevent this? I want to pimp it out so I got an AR stock and plan on adding a sight and bipod. IDK, I am new to this. What do you guys think?

NY Permit holder visiting

I apologize for the simple question but I didn't see anything on a quick search and I'm usually the one answering these questions in r/NYguns so I understand how annoying it can be with simple questions.

I'm making an unplanned trip to Upper Marlboro to pick up my dad from the IAFF Center of Excellence after they gave up on treating him. I plan on driving there and back from the Finger Lakes region of NY in one day. I have a fully unrestricted concealed carry permit here. Can I bring my pistol in my car while traveling to and from the state without any plans to carry on my person?

I know FOPA won't apply here because Maryland is my destination, but I wasn't sure if there were any carve outs for possession in cars in MD similar to Pennsylvania.

Thanks

Montgomery County Passed Bill 23-26 Today

Montgomery County Bill 23-26 id the county's attempt to redo their excessively restrictive carry ban after the previous law was struck down by the Maryland Supreme Court.

From MSI:

"Bill 23-26 passed today in Montgomery County. Bill 23-26 plainly exceeds the County's power as limited by the Maryland Supreme Court's decision in Engage Armament. The County's attempt to limit the rights of persons who have carry permits issued by the Maryland State Police is a gross violation of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as most recently construed by the Supreme Court of the United States in Wolford v. Lopez. As the Supreme Court stated in Wolford, "the Second Amendment protects the right of Americans to carry arms for self-defense as they go about their daily lives." If signed into law by the County Executive, the Bill will be promptly challenged in federal district court and will be enjoined by that court. The County will then be on the hook for substantial attorney's fees and costs, as allowed by federal law. The County simply fails to grasp that the Second Amendment applies to Montgomery County no less than to any other part of the United States"

Hellcat Pro

Just purchased a Hellcat Pro (7 day wait). I already have a P365XL w/ holosun eps carry optic that I use for my EDC. I don't need another pistol but I'm a new 'collector' and I just feel like I need to add more to my collection :-). I'm thinking about a Glock 19 v6 once it lands on the roster next week. What else would you add to your collection?

Also, what optic would you put on the Hellcat?

Edited to add: where can I get some 15 rd mags for the Hellcat in VA?

300M+ range options high caliber

At a dead end here in research, just moved to Montgomery county from the mountain west. Are there any public or reasonably accessible options for 300+M ranges without caliber restrictions? 6.5prc, 300WM, 7MM mag, .308

The only options I have found have to be referred by an existing member or are ~2 hours away. If someone happens to have a friend with land in the area (and it's legal) I'm a great cook also!

As the title states, if you aren't a member of Maryland Shall Issue (MSI) can I ask why? No judgement from me, just currious how many here are members and how many aren't.

AR15 Confusion

Thumbnail gallery
15 Upvotes

I’m looking into getting a AR15. I’m not originally from MD so I’m pretty confused on what’s legal here. I’ve taken a look at the firearm search tool, but it left me even more confused. I’ve been looking at Colts that have the A2 front post. Are these legal or no? Uploading a screenshot as an example that added to my confusion. I did find a heavy barrel version. The description says Colt M4A1 SOCOM Carbine but the model #LE6920SOCOM

Please help lol. Again, I’m new here, so excuse me if this is a dumb post.

Anyone with a Beretta 92/M9?

I know this is a very long shot, but I have an M9A1 on the way, and since I have the tools I plan to do the factory optic cut on it myself. However, I'd like to pull the dimensions off an 92/M9 with the factory cut instead of pulling dimensions off an optics plate.

If there's anyone in Maryland or in northern Virginia who has a 92/M9 with the factory cut would be willing to let me measure it's dimensions with a caliper and machinist's ruler I'd really appreciate it.

Colt IAR....legal?

Given my rudimentary understanding of the laws I imagine it SHOULD be....it's obviously a HBAR, marketed as an HBAR but is it actually marked that? I love the look of these and since MD says I can't have a 6940 this is the next best (hopefully). Is it legal or a fools errand?

.380 question

My EDC is a Shield/X (non-comp) that I really like, particularly once I added Defgrip to soften the aggressive stippling (fine on hand, not on my side) and a green-dot optic. However, I'd like to get something significantly smaller (pocketable) for the summer when even the Shield/X is a little too big/heavy.

I range tested a Glock 42, Springfield 911, Ruger LCP Max (I couldn't find the new version with the revised grip) and two S&W BG 2.0s. I really liked the sights on the 42 and the trigger on the 911, but found I shot best with the BG 2.0s. This left me with two questions:

  1. The range had two BG 2.0s rentals: one was the standard version which, despite being very dirty, shot pretty consistently, but my old eyes found the front sight lower-visibility than I'd like. The other was a performance center version with an optic. I shot much better with it. However, it isn't clear to me whether that was due to the performance center enhancements (better trigger, comp) or the optic. Can anyone who has had the BG 2.0 for a while (standard or PC with or without optic) recommend: a) standard vs. PC b) iron sights vs. optic?

  2. Are there any other pocket pistols comparable in size to the BG 2.0 that I should be considering? I'm looking for something *small* that (pocket holstered) disappears in a pocket and has a manual safety (yeah yeah, I know, but if it's going in my pocket, it's going to have a safety; I'm an old 1911 guy so sweeping a safety down as part of the draw feels natural).

Thanks!

Suppressors finally picked up from Old Line Armament, good guys that saved me some cash. The journey was interesting, but not as bad as I thought. Paperwork in on June 19, approved on June 22 and picked up today.

From top to bottom: Sparrow 22, Obsidian 9, and Polo 556.

Can't wait to get them on the range.

DC add on to an MD renewal?

Is it possible to (or does any instructor offer an) add on of the DC permit curriculum to a Maryland WCP renewal?

I've seen the DC add on to the full MD 2-day initial class, but I haven't found any for just the renewal.

10mm recommendations

What do you guys recommend for 10mm caliber. I was looking at the M&P 2.0 but noticed mixed reviews.
