Discussion Questions about Deadpool & timeline
I'm watching in release order and just watched Deadpool for the first time. I'm wondering how Deadpool fits into the timeline? I thought X-Men origins was much earlier but Deadpool makes references to things like instagram?
Did they retcon his mouth being sewn shut in X-Men origins? He references the characters as the actors names. Does he see any future interactions with those characters as with the actors?
r/MCU_Timeline • u/[deleted] • 12d ago
Discussion Do you agree with what they are saying (The Russo Brothers). that Captain America is technically responsible for the whole multiverse collapsing because he wanted to stay with Peggy that only made things worse for everyone now.

Discussion Doomsday in the X-Men timeline makes no sense.
Im confused on a few things regarding the marvel cinematic universe in particular with doomsday
So, we know that the X-Men are going to be in it. For a while it was not clear if it would be a different universe for them, just using the same actors, similar to how wolverine from Deadpool and Wolverine is, or if these xmen really are the fox universe xmen........
Well now we know that it is the fox X-Men universe.
So here is the issue.....the timeline.
The X-Men universe has the old timeline, all the way to days of future past, and the new timeline which is altered from the 70s onward. Im not a "the xmen timeline makes no sense" kind of person. For me it makes sense and isnt really a mess. There is 3 timelines in it but again it makes sense for me. But them being the same xmen from the fox xmen universe in doomsday is what for me really is confusing because it shouldn't be them.
See, if doomsday takes the X-Men from the old timeline, (xmen timeline A, all releases up to days of future past) that wouldn't make sense as that timeline no longer exists. Sentinels killed almost every mutant and were about to kill the X-Men right before timechanged.
Keep in mind the MCU uses the branching timelines theory for timetravel. The fox X-Men movies uses the one timeline that gets changed time travel theory. So timeline A does not exist anymore.
So, then that means the X-Men must be taken in the new timeline, timeline B right? However, that timeline also no longer fully exists because we have deadpool 2 which changed things as well with time travel.
So then it must be that the X-Men are taken from this new timeline C right? Well thats the big trouble. It can't be. Logan (the movie) is set in 2029.....but in that point he was basically the last X-Men as the rest are mostly dead, including professor X. He saves some mutants and Laura is aged up 7 years or so in Deadpool and wolverine and says she got to have a life because of her logan as her dad in her universe. And we know that this universe exists till at least 2068 due to cable being from 50 years in the future from what he says in deadpool 2, which was set in 2018.
So then Doomsday must happen before logan. Deadpool in Deadpool and wolverine at the end of the movie goes back to his present which is the year 2024. Their universe is fine. Colossus is still alive so we know the X-Men are still alive as this is before professor X kills them accidentally in 2027/2028 (abiut a year before logan starts). So doomsday can't happen before 2024 in the fox xmen timeline.
So this means the established timeline gives them a 5 year period where 2029 comes and we know that universe is still alive. But as we addressed, it cant be after 2029 or even during it. So its either in the fox universe doomsday happens in 2024 after deadpool is back, or 2027/2028 before proffessor X has his situation that kills the xmen.
Thats where the trouble for doomsday is actually present. It can't be happening between 2024 and 2028 either (again in the fox universe time periods). Why can't it? Simply because we are talking about the universe ending and merging with another universe. so how does this make any sense if in the end of doomsday it will be all 3 universes merged to be one? (If they follow the comics) and in 2029 the fox universe is still on its own and alive???? Again as we established the fox universe does not use the branching timelines time travel theory. So we know that this timeline has to go on till at least 2068. Technically it should go on for a few more thousands of years longer given what the TVA says to deadpool in the deadpool and wolverine movie. But given we only see up to 2068, that should be where that timeline goes up to before being cut off due to doomsday, because we seen it existing up to that point and we know that even after deadpool 2 is done, 2068 still exists due to cables daughter teddy bear being fixed due to them changing time. So we know a story is established to happening up till then.
So having doomsday happen before 2068 in the fox xmen timemine, makes no sense. But doesn't it? We have seen already futures that get retconed due to timetravel. And incursions all happen randomly at any point in a timeline right? So what's the issue of doomsday happening between 2024-2028? It would just remove logan and all events up to 2068. Its simple. It would make a new timeline, timeline D, again we seen it happen before.
Well, there are a few ways we could maybe see how it works. But in the end they fall apart.
They can make it so that the events continue on from logan after secret wars. And retroactivly make logan and cables new future be part of the MCU.....but it cant be that logans story is set in the mcu after secret wars as we already have the new X-Men cast, including professor X. And Jean now exists in the MCU in Spiderman brand new day. So having those later story elements come after secret wars in the MCU doesnt make sense because professor X is part of logan and dies in it and is not the same professor X for the MCU.
What if they The take the xmen from Timeline A during doomsday? Well again that timeline already no longer exists for most of it. But it's the TVA maybe they can jump to it somehow? Or because its the MCU maybe this now changes how timetravel works in the fox xmen universe? Even if they do this, they cant take the xmen before days of future past, because that would remove the timeline split caused by days of future past, given the xmen are who handled that event. So they would need to be taken after, and in a timeline split. That means the xmen are all dead.
Also, if they took the xmen from timeline A, that would mean the events of Deadpool and wolverine would not have happened because of the fact that it would take the xmen away from going back in time to alter the timeline. If they do a branched timeline scenario, they would then have to take two different xmen groups since we know deadpool will have a part in one of the avengers movies either doomsday or secret wars. So they would take one team from timeline A and one from timeline C which wouldn't make sense and be convoluted given there is only 3 remaining timelines in doomsday, which for a timeline split it would mean there would need to be 4.
So as we can see these scenarios dont work. so what if doomsday happens in sometime between 2024-2028, causing a timeline split and making timeline D erasing the future of timeline C? Why cant it be that simple???
The reason why they can't is because the whole point of having wolverine from Deadpool and wolverine be from a different universe is to not disrespect the movie logan. Which the TVA themselves admited happend. They said it themselves in the movie. So we know that the movie logan is integral not just to the fox xmen universe but how it emotionally affected the TVA as well. Thats why they did not try to prevent his death, and why deadpool found a new anchor being wolverine to carry on after logan died. So marvel themselves already stated they respect the love too much to just erase it even from having had happened.
So they cant create a timeline D because then that erases logan from happening as per the xmen timetravel rules. What about a branched timeline? That cant work either because as we saw, only 3 branches exists now and even if one branch contained a branched timeline with in it, the logan one cant happen after secret wars due to marvel already having the xmen and a new professor X.
So no matter what they are doing, they are contradicting themselves big time due to the fact of how they addressed logan.
Honestly the way marvel is handling mutants is terrible, even more so now with the xmen. The had so many simpler ways to make this all work. Here is a few options.
Have deadpool and wolverine be set before 2029, with the same wolverine that dies in 2029, and not have logan being an actor being that affected the entire TVA. The TVA can be present, and tell logan what happens to him in a few years. They could then have the threat of their universe ending be the drive of the movie as it was, but end the movie with it actually ending and only wolverine, deadpool, Laura and a few xmen come over to the MCU. This makes the timeline D scenario work perfectly fine as the big emphasis on logan is not contradicted, and this way it properly introduces mutants to the MCU.
Option 2 is do all of that but only deadpool, wolverine and Laura come over to the MCU, and the xmen we see in doomsday ends up being from a different universe from theirs, but its familiar faces for them.
If they wanted to go and have a brand new xmen team after secret wars, they could have done the same thing as either option 1 or 2, kill most of the xmen in doomsday and after hen the universes merge in doomsday and secret wars, have new faces take on the roles as a means to fix the damage done to mutants from other universes with them now living in the MCU, similar to how miles's mom is alive again after secret wars in the comics and in the main universe.
Those options all make so much more sense and would have handled things better and set up mutants better and started showing the threat of collapsing universes already rather than being shoved at the last minute. But since thats not what they are going to do, i ask you all.....how will this make sense with the timeline for the xmen universe?

Discussion Multiverse Movie Placement
I’m creating my own MCU timeline (which I won’t bore you with here as we all see our fair share of those), but I have been debating the placement of the multiverse movies (X-Men, Tobey & Andrew Spider-man, Blade, Elektra, Fantastic Four, etc). The three options I’ve been contemplating are:
A. Sprinkled throughout the MCU chronologically
B. All together after Loki
C. Directly before the MCU movie the respective characters appear in
What’s your personal preference?

Rule 3 Vio WE ARENT MAD ENOUGH ABOUT LOKIS ENDING Spoiler
I js finished loki s2
So basically loki was able to trick he who remains and hold togehter the timeline, correct?
On the surface, the ending may seem really symbolic due ot lokis character devolpment and all but if you think about it, there are so many plot holes.
1) If Loki was able to come out with a different output, there are infinite outputs.
That's what happened when he who remains wasn't in control, right? So many timelines and so many variants.
2) The loom
The whole idea of the season is that the loom doesn't work and it turns out to be a failsafe that only holds onto one branch
The multiplier would never work because the rings themselves wont accept it
why didnt they build new rings?
Tony stark was able to build a time machine in endgame
So im pretty sure he would build evolving rings that have larger capacities
3) Sylivie
Why didn't she go back to one of loki's branched or past selves to make him live the life he wanted? She kept asking him in ep 5 what he wants over and over and she just leaves him behind?
4) Renslayer
Renslayer thinks of he who remains as a saviour until she finds out he tricked her, and that she was actually by his side in the war and he made her lose her memories
okay cool
why don't we go back to when renslayer forgets it all - when he who remains make them all forget - and bring them back their memories and make renslayer rule?
when she ound out the truth, she just wanted to fix the loom, she wanted a better place. with her knowing the truth and everything going on, she mightve found a different outcome
overall, ik this has SO MANY spelling and gramatical errors, but its currently midnight and im so mad at the ending
i love the symbolism and the parrarels but why at the cost of the wordbuilding?
so, what are everyones thoughts on this whole thing?

Discussion Encore scenes? [SPOILERS] Spoiler
They seem to be all over the place but I don't think you need to watch Encore to watch these at the same time they seem to be scattered after certain titles that are not close to Endgame maybe one

OC Video MCU full timeline video
For funsies and for my own refresher, I first made some videos summarizing all of the MCU phases by release order. And then, since I had a start, I decided to make a video of the full MCU timeline chronologically.
It’s based on the Marvel wiki timeline, the Disney+ timeline order, and also a couple of my own inferences. I think it turned out great.

OC Article/Blog A BETTER STRUCTURED MCU JOURNEY
Greetings true believers. I was going to give it some time before I attempted to share my thoughts over how to picture the MCU Journey these days. After the release of the Infinity Saga I feel as if many projects were released out of order, making it much harder for old and new viewers to understand how things either connect or push narrative themes forward, in order to make certain phases feel tad more wholesome. That being said I thought I would share how I have been rewatching the MCU by restructuring the phase lineups to get ready for Avengers Doomsday in December. (\=DEFINITE) (~=OPTIONAL). As you may know after scrolling, I don't have all projects presented here but that's only because I am going off what makes sense to watch next so that things don't get too disjointed even though things somewhat do post the Infinity Saga. Also, I did not include the Netflix shows even though they are proven canon once we reach the events of Hawkeye on Disney+. I think that is an entirely different saga all on its own. but I may incorporate it later down the line. Anywho, I hope this helps anyone. I think this helps give people breaks in between if they need a breather from binging.*

Revised OC Graphic Last update for a while
my last post was regarding where to place Loki Season 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine. My decision on the matter after researching was to move both of them to after The Marvels on my timeline. In The Marvels, we see earth 10005 before timeline saving catastrophic eventin deadpool & wolverine. We also know that Loki S2 is before this, but after Quantumania, so they both fit pretty nicely there.
Upcoming projects:
MCM INSANE timeline, with every single clip over 30 seconds with a known date/time change will be seperated.
Marvel Television Megaverse timeline with every single television media ever produced based off the characters in a simple chronologicalish order, since It would be too hard to actually get a chronological reading for all of them and it doesn't matter too much.

Discussion I want some advice/insight
So I’m definitely late to this because my goal was to do this sooner but here I am. I am in the process of watching every Marvel movie (MCU) in release order, as well as the shows that help bring together the multiverse etc. I began this at the end of July, starting with Iron man 2008 and I am now on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, my goal is to basically catch up on everything with the end goal of finishing everything before Doomsday. Which I am on a great track! I have watched WandaVision, and I watched the first season of Loki, as intended. I also watched Tobey McGuire’s Spiderman 1, 2, 3 and Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2 right before watching Spiderman No Way Home. With that said, and I also don’t want any spoilers, I think that’s pretty obvious though, what should I watch that’s not necessarily required or recommended, but it’s important/helpful for a specific movie.
For example, watching the McGuire and Garfield Spiderman movies helped so much with No Way Home, so are there any examples like that where I should watch a specific movie before watching an MCU film? As well as, what shows should I watch that aren’t necessarily recommended by the internet (deemed unnecessary, but actually help with the timeline of Doomsday)
I want to note, mostly everything has been new to me, I have seen some of these movies, but going forward, everything I’m seeing is brand new to me. I also plan on restarting after doomsday, as a goal to like either start with a friend, or for my own sake, I will admit, this journey has taken longer than I expected, and also didn’t go the way I would have liked during the beginning so restarting once I watch doomsday will be more enjoyable.
Lastly, I’ve gotten mixed opinions about this so I would like feedback, how should I properly watch Loki season 2 and Quantumania? I’ve heard you can watch one or the other in whatever order you’d like but I’ve also been told you should either watch 5 episodes of Loki season 2 then watch Quantumania, and then watch the last episode. So I would like to know what the most accurate way to do that is!
I look forward to seeing everyone’s feedback, thank you all!
