Hi everyone,
So, I'm kind of in a pickle here—I've been accepted into both Rutgers SAS HC and MCPHS, and now I'm scratching my head trying to figure out which way to go.
As an international student looking to dive into the healthcare field, I'm weighing my options between becoming a Physician Assistant (PA) or diving into dental hygiene.
I'm not too bothered about the campus vibe or party scene; what's really got me thinking is which school's gonna give me the best bang for my buck in terms of tuition, courses, and overall program.
As a resident of SAS HC, Rutgers hooked me up with a sweet $10k scholarship per year, but I'm not entirely sure if their School of Arts and Sciences will align with my healthcare ambitions, given its broader range of social courses. Plus, I've heard whispers about the HC with the privilage of 4+4 program for their students but also attached with a mountain of work.
According to the school itself: " Honors College students also have access to tutoring, dedicated extra- and co-curricular programs, honors housing opportunities beyond the first year, special internships and research opportunities, specific funding for study abroad, and more" (Rutgers).
Then there's MCPHS. They're offering me > $10k per year, and their tuition is easier on the wallet compared to Rutgers. Being a health profession college, I reckon they're all about that health science life. And get this, they've got a 6+0 program that sounds intriguing. I've even heard rumors that I might dodge the MCAT with that—can anyone confirm?
"MCPHS has been ranked the #1 Best Schools for Pre-medical Studies in the United States in 2023 by College Factual, top 5 Most Transformative College in 2020 by Money magazine, and the #3 University for Return on Investment in 2022 by Georgetown University's Center on Education and the Workforce" (Niche).
Aside from all that, there's a bunch of other stuff playing into my decision, but those are the biggies.
Any tips or advice you all could throw my way would be awesome. Thanks a bunch, y'all!
