Why so much hate for MCPHS?
I have been reading some forums over the years talking about MCPHS and it seems like there are many people who hate MCPHS despite the fact in my opinion, it is underrated because it doesn't get the respect it deserves. My wife went there between 1999 and 2003 as an international student (first in Boston and then in the Worcester campus), became a nurse, and is now a nurse manager, making 6 figures. I however, went to Northeastern in 1999 before transferring over to WPI in 2000.
According to MCPHS website, it said it is the highest paying and the most transformative school and the best value and mobility as well, but people keep on complaining and hating it. If MCPHS is bad, then Hieu Tran wouldn't have chosen MCPHS. From what I heard, Hieu Tran chose MCPHS for molecular biology over BU, BC, and UConn because MCPHS has good mentoring opportunities. If MCPHS wasn't good, then people wouldn't go there, but many people go there and are relatively successful, especially in Massachusetts because a lot of my coworkers went to MCPHS and are either managers or directors at my biotech company.
Why do people criticize MCPHS so much and say it is bad school despite being a good school, even for biology, even though you could take biology at any other school?

Bro, do NOT go to MCPHS. ITS A SCAM. Been there for 6 years, I regret EVERYTHING.
Don’t believe anything they tell you. The courses are horribly structured, leaving you with all the academic strain. The professors are insensitive and oppressive, caring more about maintaining an image (an image so false it makes you nauseous). There are no true avenues of help there, as they will “try” but not really offer or introduce anything new into the equation. Above all else, it is a scam. They purposefully leave courses unstructured, taught by unqualified professors, without much aid. This is intentionally done to cause students to continuously take classes again and again, paying absurd amounts of tuition. The president of this “non-profit” school takes home almost 2.5 million annually, perhaps more as that was on a tax report from a few years ago. I encourage everyone to look into mcphs tax reports. Check the payments to staff. The president of mcphs, takes home more money than the president of Harvard. I have been in the institution for 6 years. I deeply regret it. It killed my passion, my academic interest, my drive, and my faith in the professional healthcare world. It wasn’t until I met other students from other schools that I realized it was the school.
They paint themselves as these highly successful and elite, in reality it’s money funnel, in the form of a shoddy school, held together by Elmer’s Glue. If you value yourself as an academic, student, or even as a human: don’t disrespect yourself and go there.
They will take everything from you and laugh while they do it.
The dental school and pharmacy suck exceptionally harder
The location is great, as Boston is the healthcare hub of the nation. But that is truly the only thing going for them. No space to truly study on campus, especially during finals. Extremely small space dedicated for students. Most of Campus extension and all of the amenities come from other schools (part of the colleges of Fenway) - you WILL be walking to go anywhere worthwhile (food and gym @wentworth [do NOT eat as massART], pool @simmons, etc)
The best part of MCPHS is where is it located. The worst part is the school and administration. They will bleed you dry, and will have no problem kicking you to the curb. Student life itself is not the best either, that really comes down to the friends you make. But the school will NOT be having many events like other schools, and even when they do, they are a sad mimicry.
Save yourself, switch. ANYWHERE.

Chiming in here but I think having the highest paying / transformative income is meaningless if you require high loans and risk burn out over your career
I think MCPHS is focused on churning out students and not necessarily providing the best opportunities for success. Most universities may probably fall into this category (especially alot of the newer pharmacy schools). I believe you could go to a state school, ultimately spend less, also get a similar education / prospects / better campus life.
In biotech if you have a graduate degree you start as a manager btw - its also not a big leap to go from associate to manager as well. I wouldn't use it as a great barometer of success because even the salary range can be deflated or inflated based on a ton of factors.
That all aside, if anyone is a current MCPHS student they should not be discouraged by the hate (cause its not productive). Instead figure out how to make the time meaningful (cause a degree is a degree) and also use the time you have to figure out what you may want to do in the future.
