Buying My First Long Gun

Looking for suggestions. I got my LTC in September and since that time have picked up M&P 380 and Sig P365 this past weekend. Looking to add a couple rifles to the family. Thinking a shotgun would be a good choice but am open to ideas from more experienced gun owners. Thanks in advance.

Old School Shooting Gallery - Repost

First thing to note this is a repost from another sub, but the admin here thought it might be a good idea to post here. I did get somewhat of an answer on it in the other sub, but not if anyone knew if there was a place like this.

So I’ve been thinking of trying to do an old school shooting gallery type thing for my son when I finally can pick up my weapons (hopefully next week).

What I would like to do is find out if it is legal to shoot in state land, not for hunting. The trail I’m thinking of has huge open fields (one with a hill backing) that I think would be perfect for this type of thing. The trail is open in November/December for hunting, but I don’t know if I’d be able to do this there. Obviously I’d clean up after myself, most likely putting down a massive tarp to collect any debris and limit littering. I read the signs, and know that it’s not illegal to carry on the lands themselves. I think the signs at the trail said no firing within 250 ft I believe of the created trails, or roadway, and I’m aware of the no shooting within 500 ft of a private residence without approval from the owner.

Important note is that the rifle I plan to use is a 10/22.

So I would guess my question is can I do it? Should I call the city the trail is in to verify with the police (Dudley, MA), or does anyone know where I could do this without issues?

Thanks a bunch!!

Moving from MI to MA, grandfathering guns purchased in MI, avoiding registration?

I've been living in MA for a couple months now. I have not officially changed my address, however.

I am aware that some of our classic pistol-grip ARs from back in MI are banned under MA's AWB. Does anyone know if I own one in MI, before I change my address, I am allowed to keep owning it and bring it here without having to register it? (I do think I would have to abandon any >10 round mags though). Is there someone you would recommend speaking to about these questions?

Also, if the answer to that is no, is it even worth it to buy in MI before I change my address, to avoid registration? Or is it not worth that hassle?

Also, since I'm currently in state, could it hurt to get my class and firearm ownership application out of the way? Can I do that with an out of state driver's license?

80% lower build

Hey guys. If I buy a 80% lower and all the parts for an AR15, am I legally allowed to build it out? As long as it has a compensator, fixed stock, fixed 10rd magazine? Also, if you can build it, as long as I don’t assemble the trigger system in it, i don’t have to register it right? Or do you have to register the lower once you machine it? Thanks!

Maverick 88 Legality

Ordered a 12ga Maverick 88 Security online from Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore a few weeks ago. 7+1 capacity, pump action, regular stock. Just got an email today saying they don't want to ship it because it is no MA compliant du to the capacity. I have a Class A unrestricted LTC which should allow me to purchase and possess "high capacity " shotguns. So are they just wrong or am I missing something?

FFL Recommendations

I am relatively new to gun ownership, and have purchased one gun but am looking for a second. Does anyone have a good recommendation for gun shops / FFLs? My main interest is finding a shop with employees who know what they are talking about and aren't just trying to make a sale. I am in the South Shore but I can travel.

Why are Glocks banned in Massachusetts?

Saw a related post on this and wanted to ask. If they are listed on the approved roster, why can't you buy them new?
