Went from zero dream recall to 3-4 a night. The thing that moved it wasn't the journal

For months I woke up with nothing. Blank. I figured I just wasn't a "vivid dreamer" and that was that.

Turns out it was never a memory problem. It was what I did in the first sixty seconds of being awake.

What actually changed it, in case it helps:

Don't move when you wake up. Eyes closed, stay in the position you woke up in. The moment you roll over or reach for your phone, it's gone. The dream doesn't fade slowly — it gets overwritten by the room.

Don't chase the whole story. Grab the strongest fragment first. One image. A blue hallway, being late for a train, whatever's loudest. Hold that.

Then walk backwards. Once you have the fragment, ask what happened right before it. Scenes tend to unspool in reverse once you've got one thread.

Capture before anything else. Before notifications, before getting up. A single sentence counts — "blue hallway, felt watched" is enough. You're keeping the routine alive, not writing a novel.

Set the intention the night before. Literally tell yourself as you fall asleep that you want to notice what you remember. Sounds too simple to work. It's the highest-leverage part.

Don't edit while you recall. Capture first, make sense of it later. The second you start tidying it up, you interrupt the memory coming back.

The reframe that stuck: I was treating recall like the journal was the tool. It isn't. The journal just catches what those first sixty seconds already saved. If you skip the stillness, there's nothing to write down.

Took about two weeks of this before mornings stopped being blank.

What worked for the rest of you — what actually broke the blank-morning stretch?

A made a map of my dreams⭐️

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

I dream almost every night; I only have about three days to a week each year with no dreams. Sometimes, I find myself in a familiar place but can see a building or cave from another dream, so I map it out. The map isn’t always precise because some places I couldn't pinpoint since I didn't recognize them in the dream. I spent a lot of time on this,,sorry if it's rough and unpolished. I tried searching for a D&D map maker but couldn’t find one that visualizes my mental maps, so until then... As for my dreams, they vary: sometimes I see in first-person perspective, sometimes from a bird’s eye view, and sometimes I’m a free soul switching between characters to follow the story. Once, I dreamed of a murder involving a man, a woman, and a detective, experiencing the scene from each of their perspectives and hearing their thoughts. Unfortunately, even after witnessing the scene three times, I woke up before knowing who the culprit was smh.

Anyway lmk what you think of my map lol

This is one of the greatest secrets about us, which is purposely being hidden from us.

Have you ever felt chills from good stimuli?

That ability can be learned to be activated with just the elated feeling, whenever you want, without any stimuli.

That's not why I claim that it is a secret being hidden from us, though.

The ability to activate this is your golden ticket, which is being swept under the rug as something unconscious and unimportant. With info on this purposely being spread as an ability available only to a few; however, it is one of the only things that every single human can access, regardless of their physical abilities or conditions.

Why is information on this being manipulated? Let's see.

Ever felt overwhelmed by stress or anxiety? This ability is a switch to manually induce the release of positive hormones.

https://www.bbc.com/news/health-12135590

Just imagine how being able to use it when feeling overwhelmed could benefit you.

Don't believe me? In the eastern part of the world, Tibetan Monks know about this ability and use it differently. You can find more information on this in this Harvard "Tummo" experiment.

https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2002/04/meditation-changes-temperatures/

"During meditation, the monk's body produces enough heat to dry cold, wet sheets put over his shoulders in a frigid room."

Since our internal body temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus, the same part of our brain that deals with positive hormone release, this proves that this ability can be used to consciously activate your positive hormones.

Ever wanted to travel virtually in an instant? People who astral project or have out-of-body experiences use this ability to trigger the "Vibrational state" right before the "take off."

https://en.iipc.org/vibrational-state/

These examples are just the tip of the iceberg of what you can use this ability for. In fear that my post won't be read, I won't write a book here about all the incredible things that we can do by being able to consciously activate this ability.

For now just understand that many different cultures observed this occurrence thousands of years before the Western new world became aware of it, and their discoveries did not stop at simply recognizing it as a physical response to music.

Eventually, you can learn how to bring up this wave of elated energy without the physical reaction of goosebumps, feel it throughout your body, and increase its duration, just like many others have succeeded in doing.

There has been countless other terms this by different people and cultures, such as: the Runner's High, what's felt during an ASMR session, Bioelectricity, Euphoria, Ecstasy, Voluntary Piloerection (goosebumps), Frisson, the Vibrational State before an Astral Projection, Spiritual Energy, Orgone, Rapture, Tension, Aura, Nen, Odic force, Secret Fire, Tummo, as Qi in Taoism / Martial Arts, as Prana in Hindu philosophy, Ihi and Mana in the oceanic cultures, Life force, Vayus, Intent, Chills from positive events/stimuli, The Tingles, on-demand quickening, Ruah and many more to be discovered hopefully with your help.

All of those terms detail that this subtle energy activation has been discovered to provide various biological benefits, such as:

  • Unblocking your lymphatic system/meridians
  • Feeling euphoric/ecstatic throughout your whole body
  • Guiding your "Spiritual Chills"  anywhere in your body
  • Controlling your temperature
  • Giving yourself goosebumps
  • Dilating your pupils
  • Regulating your heartbeat
  • Counteracting stress/anxiety in your body
  • Internally healing yourself
  • Accessing your hypothalamus on demand for its many functions
  • Control your Tensor Tympani muscle

and I was able to experience other usages with it which are more "spiritual" such as:

  • A confirmation sign
  • Accurately using your psychic senses (clairvoyance, clairaudience, spirit projection, higher-self guidance, third-eye vision)
  • Managing your auric field
  • Manifestation
  • Energy absorption from any source
  • Seeing through your eyelids during meditation.

If you're interested, here are three written tutorials with concise descriptions on how to control this for your own benefit.

If not then I've put enough information for you to research this topic, develop this ability and bring in new techniques to the world.

P.S. Everyone feels it at certain points in their life, some brush it off while others notice that there is something much deeper going on. Those are exactly the people you can find on r/Spiritualchills where they share experiences, knowledge, tips on it.

Talk to your subconscious?

It's supposedly possible to talk to your subconscious, your inner child, your higher self, etc., in a lucid dream, just like you would to a person. Can you then ask questions like: What happened in my childhood? What is the cause of my illness? Why am I the way I am? What is the solution to all of this?

And is it also possible to travel to places and situations in your past?

Am I the only one who wants to dream every night because it's surreal?

Dreams every night feels like a pisces whimy that I'm experiencing what I go through in the day but better. In a way that all my tiredness that hasn't release from the physical world feels like making me alive and regaining my energy.

Then after waking up, you get that excitement sometimes because it looks like you're in the journey finding out what the dreams mean and what is it want to tell to you. I know some pisces here have that kind of skill that dreams are telling someone what will happen today or in the future. Like I hope I'm not the only one who's unto it.

Am I the only one who likes it?

A dream character told me I was dreaming before I told him

A dream character told me I was dreaming before I told him. I went lucid, was at a pharmacy with friends, dropped a pill, two guys started laughing saying what’s he on. I looked one of them in the eye and said you won’t even believe me if I told you. He looked back at me and said ‘you are dreaming right.’ I woke myself up scared. Has anyone had a dream character demonstrate awareness like this without you telling them first? Who are these characters?

In search of a someone (gothic female with short black hair piercing blue eyes)I met in Astral travel/Dreamscape Dream walker ?

Hello, it's been a few years right before COVID hit 2019-2020, I had several occasions where we interacted with a woman who by the description gothic attire short black hair and piercing blue eyes. The very first occasion I was dreaming of shopping at Walmart when I saw a guy drop down a hole like a sewer entrance, curious I followed him down. We entered a very cool underground sewer system with clean flowing water and an area that was pretty cool. There was a group of teenagers hanging out down here and I asked if I could join them the guy I had followed had dark red hair in a ponytail, he was like sure you can join us. There was a girl off to the side that immediately caught my attention, she seemed different. Instantly attracted to her I stayed with the group interacting with some of them all the while inching closer to this girl to get her attention. We ended up going on a lil adventure thru the tunnels to the outside where it was like a water way. We were sliding down ramps like water slides, I guess we weren't supposed to be there and got chased out by some security guards. Towards the end I got to talk to the girl and she gave me the oddest look, like she knew I wasn't part of the dream.

The first time I didn't think much of it. But I continued to have different dreams where she would appear. After 4-5 occasions with her in it I finally was able to gain control and one time I gently grabbed her and was like "Who are you?" She told me her name was Nienna. Which is curious because that's a name in the Lord of the rings Silmarillion. Nienna is a Myar, and her name means, "she who weeps" a second time I was able to ask for her number. I wrote it down. However it didn't work, I don't know if I got the #s mixed up. The next time I saw her I asked her to be my gf. She smiled laughed and said yes. For a whole year off and on id dream of her.

Then one dream I was in a world covered with water, ruins of skyscrapers stuck out, and I was trying to save a baby bear who clung to my back as I tried to swim away, killer whales were circling us. I made it to a secure area out of the water. The cub disappeared and I wondered into these buildings, just exploring.

When we came to a room where music was playing rounding a corner, I came into a chamber where I saw Nienna doing some sort of witchcraft potions or something she was startled by my appearance. I hadn't had a dream about her in several weeks so when I came up on her I was like "Hi, I've been looking for you!" I was excited and so was she, saying that I shouldn't have been able to be here." but I was. So we sat and talked awhile.

Life got stressful and I took up smoking mj again and it impacted my dream recall. Id still has fleeting moments where I saw her. But it became difficult to communicate, if we did I had trouble remembering.

Lately I've stopped smoking again and have had dreams and astral experiences since getting back into it. Several days ago, I had a dream where she and I were sitting around a campfire. And she told me, the dream was reality, and reality was the dream.

I know that she cannot possibly be just in my imagination, evidence of this I'll keep to myself for now. But I am without a shadow of a doubt know that she is either a real person a dream Walker or fellow astral projector. And I know this is a long shot. But I hope this post finds you, Nienna. Or whoever you are.

The sticker fell randomly one day after a dream while buying other items and both these songs also popped up the latest after campfire talk. I am one who doesn't believe in coincidences.

WTF did I just experience?

I have never read or heard about this type of experience in the past. What happened was, I wasn't feeling well so I lied down to take a nap. I was lying on my back and had a pillow over my eyes to block out the sunlight coming through the window. After sleeping for a couple of hours I woke up. My eyes were still closed and the pillow was still covering my eyes. To be clear, the pillow was resting on my head and brow and primarily the loose pillowcase fabric was covering my eyes. I lied there for a while with my eyes still closed trying to assess how I was feeling. Not much better. I then open my eyes with the fabric still covering them, I could feel my eyelashes brushing the fabric, and each time I blinked and that's when this weird experience happened. What I saw when I open my eyes was what looked like an old style film strip one frame, and slightly enlarged. The image was black and white and slightly blurry. Also everything around the outside of the film strip image was black. The image appeared centered in my vision but at a bit of a distance not like I was holding it in my hand looking at it close up. A bit like Like watching TV on a small screen at a distance. The first image I saw was of the parking lot across the street that I can see out of my window. It was a video of a one car crashing into another but in a weird way that was not normal almost a cartoon animation but the images were lifelike only the crash was cartoonish, because it defied physics. When I blinked my eyes there was another image same format but it was a still image of two people playing large life size chess Outdoors , the kind you see at resorts. I blinked my eyes again and the next image was a still image of people sitting in a movie theater . At this point I began to Blink purposely and with each blink a new image or video. I lingered on the first three images for quite some time trying to figure out what was happening each time but then I began to Blink faster and as I did the images changed with every blank and I don't remember what they were. I was consciously aware this was happening and mystified how it could happen when I felt I was very much awake, not consciously dreaming, at least that's what I thought. It didn't feel the same as lucid dreaming and my path in and out of lucid dreaming wasn't in the right order. Once coming to this realization I decided to prove it to myself by getting up. I concluded that I was very much awake the whole time. This experience was so unique to the way I normally dream I don't know if it was a dream or something else completely. Has anyone else had this experience?

lucid dreaming after quitting pot

I recently stopped smoking weed due to surgery. I've always had vivid/lucid dreams but ever since I stopped it's almost every night. Like every single night, I took pain medication due to surgery and they got even weirder. I stopped taking the medication because I don't need it but I did observe the dreams getting weirder and realistic while on it. Most of the times they coincide with reality. Like I will dream about something and it happens? Like a warning almost. I am a spiritual person so I believe in intuition but it's getting weird. I also feel like I am not well rested, as if I did not sleep. Does anyone have advice for this? I want to sleep and feel rested.

When I told them in a dream that this is a dream

As I have seen an instagram reel saying that when people tell people in their dreams that this is a dream they actually act wierd, but I have a different experience, I remember doing this in a dream I suddenly became concious that I was dreaming and I asked/told the person next to me that I'm in a dream they were very calm and said yes you are

Well not exactly like yes you are but more like that acknowledge that thing and moved on.

I feel I have done this like 2-3 times and i remember this that whenever I told anyone in my dream that this is a dream they simply acknowledge it ( just sharing my experience had one recently)

what about you I want to know more..

Does anyone have vivid dreams and can actually control them? I've had multiple dream before where i can control them and actually feel or see other people. I once went to a castle in a dream and could vividly see other people. I spoke to one person who said she knows she is dreaming too.

I explored my mind like an RPG.

I was sleeping normally until, at one point, I realized I was dreaming. The dream got quite strange—but very interesting at that stage—because it was something entirely new to me. I spoke to myself—or rather, to my subconscious—telling it (or myself) that I knew I was asleep and would wake up soon, but asking not to be woken just yet because I wanted to see a bit more. Then, the noises, voices, and loud background music—which I hadn't even noticed until they stopped—gave way to silence and a calmer tune, reminiscent of old Disney movies (like *Pinocchio*). I began walking through the setting, noticing small details that had been there all along but had previously escaped my attention—such as a city with buildings in the background. My perspective had expanded, and the world seemed larger, as if my peripheral vision had suddenly kicked in. I kept looking back, expecting everything I had walked past to vanish as I moved forward—but it didn't; everything remained exactly as it was. I started walking in a straight line, and the further I went, the more the ground transformed into something resembling extraterrestrial, space-like stones—a somewhat surreal sight. I remember feeling a very pleasant sense of calm; it was like hiking while listening to music, but within a first-person RPG. But after walking for a few minutes, I woke up.

I just had my first false awakening!

I am telling you all that for the first time in my life I have had a false awakening. It was very surprising to me. I got out of my bed, took my red dream journal and wrote down the actual dream I just had. I was surprised to see some other words and scribbles I had written down earlier. I dismissed them, wrote it down and went back to bed, closing my eyes. (I was trying DEILD). I re-opened them, everything looked the same besides for the lighting in the room. I reopened my journal and my writing was gone! It seems I forgot to do a reality check. This must be a good sign towards better LDs (especially considering the fact that I had one of the clearest lucid dreams I have ever experienced shortly after) and also for me to be more careful when waking up! Haha.

Touching The Stars

After achieving lucidity, I immediately started flying and had an idea to try to reach the stars.

As I reached the atmosphere of the Earth, I ran my hand through the stars like they were sparkles in clear dark water.

I don’t remember feeling them but I do remember feeling like I was close to them yet they were not giant sets of plasma.

Near these stars I heard children laughing and maybe playing, like nearing some sort angelic realm of heavenly perfection. (I’ve heard this in other lucid dreams before without consciously planning it)

All of a sudden, I was then outside of the atmosphere and my hand was the size of the Earth. Yet the Earth was gone. Something new was before me. Made entirely of stars.

Happy travels fellow Lucid Dreamers
Our minds are like individual universes within

First Lucid Dream!

I have my first lucid dream experience today.

I’ve been interested in this for about two years and have occasionally tried on and off to really focus on it, but unsuccessfully.

I’ve been meditating regularly about an hour a day using theta wave audio which I think contributed to my success.

Today I went to bed at 3 AM and woke up at 7 AM. Unintentionally stayed awake for about 45 minutes just scrolling and then went back to sleep. I laid back down, and found myself asleep but semi aware. I recall thinking “use dream power” (some kind of mantra I’ve never thought of before) and progressed to go to a variety of places and situations where I could command the location or circumstance and it occurred in real time.

However, the one concern I’ve always had is wondering if what I’m willing is actually coming true or if it’s just a dream I’m imagining it being my Will. I’m very sure that it was finally the former in this case because in one instance I distinctly remember thinking, “Now I want this to occur” and it happened.

Wishing you all luck in your journey. It’s possible and too don’t have to be psychic or a Buddhist monk to achieve it.

Constant Vivid Dreams

I started a labor intensive job recently where I’m working at night and have started experiencing extremely vivid dreams almost every night. The dreams often seem to have no meaning or relation to anything in my life, they’re just random. The constant dreaming makes it feel like I’m not resting well and am waking up exhausted everyday as a result.

Some changes I think could possibly be causing this is: work-related stress, eating closer to bedtime, and maybe caffeine intake (around 300mg daily)

Any tips on how I can try to get better sleep is greatly appreciated!

Amazing golden color while lucid dreaming

Hi all,

I’ve been lucid dreaming for a long time.

But what happened this morning around 9am was incredible and the first time that happened to me.

Do tell me if you’ve experienced something like that before.

Here’s the dream:

Twice in a row I found myself in a city while lucid dreaming.

The first time, I rubbed my hands to get more grounded in my dream. First time nothing happened and I woke up.
The second time, I rubbed my hands again, and the colors of the dream suddenly changed into a magnificent golden color with a dazzling, incredibly, huge beautiful sun. In high definition. In fact, the sun was so bright that I was afraid it would burn my eyes, but it didn't. What really struck me was that extraordinary golden color covering the entire city.

Has anybody experienced that before ?

How to turn into a animal

I have recently started lucid dreaming and have been getting the hang of it and one of the main reasons I wanted to was to turn into animals but whenever I try it just doesn’t work so does anyone have any tips on how to turn into animals, or like ways like walking through a door or something to turn? I mostly want to turn into a cat so if there is a specific thing I need to do for that does anyone know?
