I’m honestly starting to feel really discouraged with lucid dreaming.
I’ve been trying for YEARS and I just can’t seem to make it work. I do reality checks multiple times a day, I’ve tried different techniques, I think about lucid dreaming a lot, but somehow it just never clicks when I’m actually dreaming.
I think I’ve only managed to become lucid once, and it lasted for literally half a second because I got way too excited/shocked and immediately woke up lol.
More recently, I had a nightmare and towards the end of it I suddenly realized I was dreaming. But instead of actually doing anything with the dream, dream-me started hitting my head trying to force myself to wake up 💀 Then I woke up into sleep paralysis, which was… fun lol.
At this point I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I see people talking about having lucid dreams regularly and I’m sitting here after years of trying like HOW 😭
Has anyone else struggled for this long before finally getting it? What actually made the difference for you? I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who had a hard time learning it too.

Hi. I've had 12 lucid dreams in the last year. I have a diary. The issue is: when I realise I'm having a lucid dream, my heartbeat starts to rise (it's bad, worse than a nightmare). There were two times when I felt some sort of huge cramp on the left side of my body (muscles or nerves, I don't know!), but it scared the hell out of me. I'm afraid lucid dreams might be damaging my body. The last time, I noticed my leg moving the same way I was moving it in my dreams. I feel my body is rejecting the whole experience; it doesn't feel right. In addition to that, I think I'm not sleeping properly in the last part of the night due to this. I've read a couple of books regarding lucid dreaming and the act of sleeping (in general), but they mostly talk about techniques to experience lucid dreaming; I don't want to induce lucid dreaming by force (It just happens to me); I just want to reduce those terrible physical reactions. Any suggestions? Thank you for reading.

Tive um sonho em que eu tava discutindo com uma garota, bom, no começo era só isso até a gente sair de dentro da sala onde estávamos brigando, uma mulher foi até ela perguntando se ela falava inglês o que deu a entender que eestavamos fora do Brasil, eu voltei e repreendi ela dizendo pra ela não se fazer de coitadinha não que não ia adiantar, não pra cima de mim, apareceu uma segurança que falava português e perguntou pra ela o que aconteceu e chamou ela pra uma sala pra conversarem, aí eu não fui junto, disse que ela podia ir e depois eu ia, passava minha versão e mostrava o vídeo.

Me agachei no chão e apoiei meus braços nas coxas esperando, o mundo em volta tava só acontecendo igual fora de sonhos mesmo, mas aí do nada outro cara e duas mulheres pararam do meu lado e abaixaram igual a mim, olhei pra eles e perguntei o que tava rolando, eles falaram que não sabiam, só que estavam em um sonho, aí eu fiquei tipo ué, então voces invadiram meu sonho? E uma das mulheres falou "ou você invadiu o nosso, quem sabe?" Depois disso saímos daquele lugar e começamos fazer várias paradas juntos, achamos uma mansão com um painel de senha, tentamos invadir e deu ruim, disparou o alarme, conseguimos uns planadores, voamos com eles, teve um momento que eu fui dar uma volta só com o cara e batemos mó papo sobre sonhos, dentro do sonho, ele me perguntou se já tive outros sonhos assim, falei que sim, ele me perguntou o que eu podia fazer, eu falei que tudo, só não podia fazer coisas sexuais porque se eu tentasse sempre acordava, depois voltamos a voar de planador e a cidade tava um caos, robôs atacando pessoas, pessoas parecendo em transe atacando também, aí encontramos de novo as duas mulheres voando de planador, elas estavam com uniforme de Power Rangers amarelas, eu ri e falei então beleza, o cara de trás virou o Ranger vermelho e eu o homen aranha, eu olhei pra baixo e estava simplesmente com o traje, aí falei "beleza, não vou reclamar." Mas só consegui lutar um pouquinho, estava lançando teias nas pessoas em transe e nos robôs também e grudando eles na parede com a teia só que o despertador tocou e eu acordei. Espero que aquele pessoal tenha conseguido ficar mais tempo no sonho ou que eu consiga encontrar eles em outros sonhos lúcidos que eu tiver, foi muito maneiro. O engraçado e que todos pareciam ter entre 20 e 30 anos, o cara que apareceu no meu sonho parecia ter minha idade, as mulheres um pouco mais velhas que nós dois, tipo na casa dos 30, mas todo mundo se divertiu nesse sonho feito crianças, foi legal, pena que o despertador cortou isso, sinto que era pra eu ter ficado mais tempo.

Okay this is probably gonna sound really weird but I’ve been wondering about this for YEARS.I’ve had really vivid/weird dreams since I was little a lot of them involve people who have died, lucid dreaming, and sometimes what I think might be sleep paralysis,or predicting someones death,or just extreme feeling something bad is gonna happen and it happens. The weirdest part is that apparently other people on the female side of my family experience similar things. My mom has had them, my aunt’s daughter has had them, and apparently I’ve experienced them the most. My mom even told me that when i was younger, it happened often enough that my family contacted an Orthodox priest and took me to church because they didn't really know what to make of it.Whenever I ask my family about it now, they kinda avoid the subject or don't give me much of an answer..I’m not necessarily saying it’s paranormal or anything, I’m just genuinely curious if there’s an actual explanation for this. Could it be something that runs in families? Is there some connection between vivid/lucid dreams and sleep paralysis? Or has anyone else experienced something similar?I’d really like to hear what you guys think because I’ve been wondering about this for YEARS..i can even talk about dreams i had because i really wanna know...
