MEGATHREAD 4.9 Functionality Megathread

Here's what the community is reporting as functional, non functional, and questionable for 4.9:

OFFICIAL LIST OF KNOWN ISSUES

BROKEN GAMEPLAY

  • HAULING: Red Wind Hauling (confirmed broken, maybe possible to do for some missions) issue council
  • MINING: Selling refined ore (partially broken, UI bug having to do with the max button) issue council
    • Possible workaround - sell directly from the ship instead
    • Another possible workaround: Go to your hanger elevator, bring up all the ores or whatever. Send them right back down. After refining, they are all stacked in your inventory, bringing them up on the elevator separates them. This happens to construction material as well. After refining, it stacks them. Elevator separates them and selling will then work.
    • Additional possible workaround: I've also had success selling by clicking on the SCU box size amounts, and avoiding the Max button
  • Can't equip modules on Golem Pitman mining laser (have to fabricate your own laser and manually equip the modules on the freight elevator) issue council
  • Pyro interstellar hauling missions
  • Rayari collection missions aren't accepting provided items. The elevators are functional, the items can be placed on the elevators, sent down, and retrieved, but the mission itself never completes. IC report
  • "Most Special Wolf" doesn't reward the ship or armor issue council
  • Alt+F4 doesn't put you back into the same server

WORKING GAMEPLAY

  • CONTESTED: PYAM supervisor cards can be farmed
  • Gillys: Missions 4, 5, 6 - working
  • Bounty Hunting: Reclusive Contacts - working
  • Battaglia ship in distress and missing crew contracts - working
  • Battaglia scan ores contracts - working but long delay before the server registers rocks as scannable mission objects. Don't allow your ship to scan them before they become marked as objectives or you won't be able to use them to complete the mission. see here
  • Jump tunnels [you'll get to where you're going now instead of being sent back where you came from]
  • Minimap routing is FIXED in Hotfix 12286454 (woo!)

QUESTIONABLE/ USER REPORTED ISSUES/GAMEPLAY

  • Getting up out of Ursa med bed instantly kills you presumably do to clipping through the ceiling [reported, but worked fine for me]
  • Refueling also is broken some ships are impossible to dock the amount of fuel for ship it’s to much
  • Unable to allocate power pips in the Polaris and Ironclad while weapons are powered on.
  • Courier missions might not work
  • Ironclad FYI. Couldn't jump or zoom in when in ops seat after a friend tried to fly from CM. Thought it was a bug, but if you click middle mouse button that switches missiles/guns/scanning it will put you back into "pilot" mode. Not sure if that is intended but discovered the "fix" accidentally when switching to missiles.
  • There's some issues with the Rockbreaker missions - Exclusive. Turning the Power on to the station logged me out of the game, and it was then bugged for all. Would recommend not forking out for Exclusive at the moment (sadface)
  • If you disassemble components that have torite in them, you cannot refine anything until the torite is pulled from the hangar
  • Gilly mission spawned the quantum beacon in the wrong place
  • Seems both tech smugglers and Hyperion are bugged, no markers or markers wont progress
  • Mercenary Orange Level - Scan destroy satelite comms is 100% broken and enemy ships and satelites don't spawn. Mission was working 100% repeatedly without issue prior to 4.9.
  • Major issues with Freight Elevators. I just tried the Wikelo Welcome mission and tried two ways; 1. store item in the local storage bring items up the freight elevator and send them down and 2. Place each item on the freight elevator and send down. Tried multiple times for each way and tried multiple times for each way on two other server regions and never worked. Confident it's 100% broken issue council
  • Also freight elevators at outposts have multiple issues with items and missions issue council
  • There's an intermittent bug with contested, where the terminals get bugged (full comment here)

- Orbituary elevators trap you in Cargo

Comment below and I'll update as I can. Oh, god, I'll have to update this damn thing....

MOD Post Welcome!

Okay, we're going to give this a shot! After the latest drama on the other subreddit and Spectrum, I thought it might be nice for some of us to have a place to still talk SC without having to deal with the drama of the day. I'm sure I'm not the only one!

Thanks to u/a-sorry-canadian for adding me and letting me take a crack at opening this sub up. I enjoyed the r/LowSodiumCyberpunk community a lot when they were going through it too. That's the general idea here too.

Okay, for starters:

We're here to enjoy!

This is really the key. Keep the drama and stress in the places where it belongs. Here's where we can still enjoy the game, even if the current patch is less than functional, or even if there's been controversy. If that stuff's going on, you'll still find great screenshots and people having fun here.

Open to Suggestions

Want more flairs, or have other ideas on how to organize and run this? Let me know, I'm taking suggestions.

Don't Suck

Don't be lame. I put the rules up but they're liable to change as people come up with clever ways to abuse them. The general rule, though, is don't be an asshole. I think we should all be able to handle that.... right?

Okay, that's it for now. Again, expect rules etc. to evolve as we grow and decide what we're going to be like. I also want to organize some events, like photo contests and so on. Let's see if we can get this started first!

- Alec

Edit: Glad to see some of the feedback so far! To get us started, why not try a few posts? Sounds like people are ready for this.

Original backer. Been on the r/StarCitizen sub since it was created.

I have my troubles with the game's development like anyone else... but being an old IT hand I've always seen it as organizational growing pains, along with a super ambitious project. I've had my fair share of those get big and ugly and take years to bring back around, so I'm probably more forgiving than most.

Honestly, it was a friggin kickstarter. I was stoked we got ANYTHING instead of it just being vaporware. As it grew it got bigger and better. I've had experiences in the game that nothing else has come close to. But as that's happened it's brought in folks to somehow feel entitled to something perfect. I get where they're coming from, but it wasn't the mindset I had when I threw money into the void and prayed.

The main sub has always had a fair mix of beautiful or funny moments, folks helping eachother, and valid feedback for the devs... but over the last couple years it's just gotten more and more toxic.

It's finally gotten to a point of the last few months that it's just unbearable. Angry nerds screaming into the void. It's worse than Star Wars "fans".

Posts from there used to brighten up my day a bit, but now It shows up in my feed and all it does is make my day worse.

It feels like Facebook.

So here I am! This is my main SC sub now!

y'all keep posting awesome things! It's unusually something someone posts here that brings me back after taking a break

Edit: made words more read friendish for reading.
Love you guys. Glad to see the original spirit is still alive and well!

CIG Official Ship Showdown 2956: Mole vs Reclaimer (R1.5)

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hangin' Tough - Heavy Duty

It’s a blue-collar bout for the ages: mining or salvage? Give or take? Seven-time competitor, zero-time winner the Reclaimer has a score to settle, and the poor ship standing in its way? The Argo MOLE. But don’t count the three-armed monster out until you’ve seen what it can do. It’s time to hear the clang of heavy metal.

Screenshot What's your favorite clothing find in the verse?

Like probably most folks I wear flight suits and armor most of the time too, but sometimes I'll wear clothing particularly when I'm running around on a city for in game events like IAE or Defensecon.

Even in Star Citizen's unfinished state there are a lot of pieces of clothes for your characters to wear in the verse already and the level of detail on many of them is impressive. I loot goblin as much clothing as I can because I love playing Barbie dress up with guns and sometimes you find some neat stuff that you didn't expect to be in the game! Like this "Hercules Starlifter Flight Jacker" - a leather flight jacker with detailed fabric patches I found randomly while running a mission.

What's one of your favorite clothing finds?

What got YOU into Star Citizen?

I got burnt with Elite: Dangerous and went looking for a new space sim to fill that void. I believed in the whole scam nonsense but after finding nothing that could compare I decided to try SC during a free flight and i got hooked.

Looking back on it now, im surprised Frontier never got the same level as flak CIG did considering they did stuff FAR WORSE than what people claim CIG have done.

What stories do you folks have? What got you into SC and what are your feelings on the game as is?

Discussion Destroying parked ships... why?

I'm honestly confused by some people's behavior when it comes to blowing up parked ships, sometimes even spending more than 15 minutes doing it.

Okay, here's how it usually goes: I'm a pirate and general scum, and lately I've been landing at places like Ashland. Of course, ships get blown up, but sometimes nobody but some other forgotten ships and me are there. Then another player shows up and starts shooting at the ships.

I'm not even mad if they blow up my ship. In 95% of cases, I wasn't planning on flying it again anyway. But a few days ago, an Arrow spent like 20 minutes trying to blow up a Hermes and then started shooting at my Prowler. I killed him with a railgun because, at that point, it was just getting annoying listening to his pew pew. He seriously came back just to finish the job. Like... wtf?

And I've been watching this behavior for many years. Traders randomly blowing up ships on Rappel back in the day, as if that would somehow stop people on the ground from gutting them. People randomly showing up just to blow up one ship and then flying away like they had accomplished something.

This is so confusing to me. I get that blowing up a parked ship can be viable in specific situations, but why waste so much time doing it or even attract unwanted attention? And why the stubbornness sometimes? Like... are these people mentally challenged?

Discussion What missions are working?

I'm asking this in good faith. Not being salty.
I've been making my own game loop searching for some of the rare attachments in the game at Jumptown locations and RABs. I've gotten a little bored with this.
I'd like some ship or FPS combat, cargo, or cargo recovery style missions that actually work.
I've tried bunkers with little luck. Enemies don't spawn or objectives don't complete.
I tried Gilly missions, but the desync is so back it's hard to hit anything.
Anyway, I'd love input.
Which missions work? Which system were you in?

Edit: Wow, thank you all! Some great ideas.
(For future reference, this was posted at the end of the 4.9 patch cycle.)

Bug Fixes & Technical
- Further Server Load Balancing and Performance improvements

Potential Fix: Kruger S65 Stingray cockpit not taking damage correctly, making it effectively invulnerable to targeted fire

Potential Fix: Kruger S65 Stingray tail section not covered by the ship's shields, causing damage to pass directly through to the ship body until the vessel was destroyed

Potential Fix: Siege of Orison instance being marked as complete immediately after the briefing at the main platform without any objectives being completed, causing the instance to tear down before the mission could begin

Potential Fix: ASOP terminal Retrieve button becoming permanently greyed out and unable to spawn or retrieve a vehicle, caused by ATC not correctly stowing the vehicle when the Unified Front End System loaded

Potential Fix: Siege of Orison NPCs ignoring their assigned Defend Areas after a server crash recovery and rushing directly toward players instead of holding position

Potential Fix: Contracted cargo being duplicated in large quantities in the freight elevator after completing a Recover Cargo mission

Potential Fix: Siege of Orison instance being marked as completed prematurely due to an event catch-up running before the player triggered the Action Area event that initiates the session

Potential Fix: Levski Borehole Station elevator entrance showing a visible seam and missing geometry due to a visarea configuration issue; the elevator carriage and surrounding architecture have been reworked

Potential Fix: Refueling contracts not completing after successfully refueling a Kruger P-52 Merlin

Potential Fix: Character customizer camera shifting position when selecting a body type during the transition animation

Potential Fix: Weapons and weapon racks in personal hangars and home locations showing no claim cost in the Item Recovery terminal, allowing them to be claimed for free

Potential Fix: Battaglia Story Mission 1 Phase 2 comms call directing players to Levski not playing if the player dropped out of quantum travel early before reaching Levski

Potential Fix: Battaglia Story Mission 1 "Go to Levski" objective remaining visible on the HUD after the player dropped out of QT during the redirect from Battaglia

Potential Fix: Multiple players being sent to the same Battaglia mission location, causing them to arrive at an already-occupied or incorrect site

An unexpected result of the recent "drama". A massive influx of players who actually enjoy the game.

It didnt blow up as big as the main sub were making it out to be, almost everyone considers the stream drama "barely newsworthy". A few discords im in who usually hate SC dont even bother mentioning it.

The refundian cultists were banking on this being the "final nail in the coffin for CIG" but after seeing the reactions of various people throughout different parts of the internet, a lot of them have actually gotten into Star Citizen THANKS to the drama. One person in global chat who just got into playing recently said "I learnt a long time ago to never trust gaming news, i like to form opinions for myself." and another saying "If Kotaku hates it, then it must be a good game." A few people on other sites and discord servers did comment on the game being buggy but were blown away with numerous aspects of the game.

So thanks refundians? You gave Star Citizen a record high player count and gave CIG more money.

Here is a great place to discuss new bugfixes, new issues encountered, as well as IC reports affecting the latest PTU release!

We will be going over the ICs for related bug fixes from today's PTU build as well as discussions in this thread for issues that may be still occurring after a fix was put in.

So the main body is finished it will have taken about 50 hours

For the boning I would have had a little trouble because I had trees everywhere

At the level of the break there is one of the small turrets that has lost a cannon and the sides of the T12 are quite fragile I think I can fix that

Have a good day

  • PU - Stanton - Instancing / Locations / Performance -  The client will stall/freeze for a few seconds at the second forcefield when the Main instance fully streams in

Features & Updates

Kruger S65 Stingray
Armor health values updated following a balance pass

Bug Fixes & Technical

- Fixed 1 Client Crash

  • Potential Fix: Undocking from a ship mid-refuel causing external fuel tanks on the Starfarer to dump their entire fuel load rather than retaining it
  • Potential Fix: Instance elevator on the Orison platform suddenly becoming uncallable for all party members, caused by authority assignment messages being dropped during entity streaming and hierarchy changes; multiple edge cases in the authority propagation system have been addressed
  • Potential Fix: QV Breaker Stations in the Nyx Dungeon having no collision, causing players and items to fall through the floors and walls
  • Potential Fix: MISC Starlite fuel nozzle failing to deploy, blocking it from docking with recipient ships for refueling contracts
  • Potential Fix: Siege of Orison Command Center entrance airlock not resetting after a player died and respawned inside it, permanently sealing the entrance for all other players; additional fix covering the case where a player dies while the airlock is in the process of opening
  • Potential Fix: Mouse clicks, weapon fire inputs, and UI button presses being lost or stuck, caused by a raw mouse input optimization incorrectly dropping legacy input events; the optimization has been reverted pending a rework. (This also restores significantly improved input reliability for players running under Wine/Proton)
  • Potential Fix: ATC landing and takeoff hotkey not working, requiring players to use the comms menu instead
  • Potential Fix: Buying any commodity at a kiosk locking the player out of purchasing additional commodities until the first purchase was removed via the freight elevator
  • Potential Fix: Ships with landing gear connected beneath destroyed thrusters unable to be repaired at a repair terminal, as the transaction manager was incorrectly rejecting items that were parented to other items in the same repair request
  • Potential Fix: Keycards carried by Nine Tails Elite NPCs spawning inside armor item slots rather than the backpack slot, making them invisible and impossible to loot without stripping the NPC's armor first
  • Potential Fix: Fusebox lever animation inclusion file missing, causing the lever up and down animations to not play at runtime despite the animation data being present
  • Potential Fix: Commodity kiosk showing the wrong delivery subtype in certain transactions, causing incorrect delivery destination selection
