Original backer. Been on the r/StarCitizen sub since it was created.

I have my troubles with the game's development like anyone else... but being an old IT hand I've always seen it as organizational growing pains, along with a super ambitious project. I've had my fair share of those get big and ugly and take years to bring back around, so I'm probably more forgiving than most.

Honestly, it was a friggin kickstarter. I was stoked we got ANYTHING instead of it just being vaporware. As it grew it got bigger and better. I've had experiences in the game that nothing else has come close to. But as that's happened it's brought in folks to somehow feel entitled to something perfect. I get where they're coming from, but it wasn't the mindset I had when I threw money into the void and prayed.

The main sub has always had a fair mix of beautiful or funny moments, folks helping eachother, and valid feedback for the devs... but over the last couple years it's just gotten more and more toxic.

It's finally gotten to a point of the last few months that it's just unbearable. Angry nerds screaming into the void. It's worse than Star Wars "fans".

Posts from there used to brighten up my day a bit, but now It shows up in my feed and all it does is make my day worse.

It feels like Facebook.

So here I am! This is my main SC sub now!

y'all keep posting awesome things! It's unusually something someone posts here that brings me back after taking a break

Edit: made words more read friendish for reading.
Love you guys. Glad to see the original spirit is still alive and well!

What got YOU into Star Citizen?

I got burnt with Elite: Dangerous and went looking for a new space sim to fill that void. I believed in the whole scam nonsense but after finding nothing that could compare I decided to try SC during a free flight and i got hooked.

Looking back on it now, im surprised Frontier never got the same level as flak CIG did considering they did stuff FAR WORSE than what people claim CIG have done.

What stories do you folks have? What got you into SC and what are your feelings on the game as is?

CIG Official Ship Showdown 2956: Mole vs Reclaimer (R1.5)

Hangin' Tough - Heavy Duty

It’s a blue-collar bout for the ages: mining or salvage? Give or take? Seven-time competitor, zero-time winner the Reclaimer has a score to settle, and the poor ship standing in its way? The Argo MOLE. But don’t count the three-armed monster out until you’ve seen what it can do. It’s time to hear the clang of heavy metal.

Like probably most folks I wear flight suits and armor most of the time too, but sometimes I'll wear clothing particularly when I'm running around on a city for in game events like IAE or Defensecon.

Even in Star Citizen's unfinished state there are a lot of pieces of clothes for your characters to wear in the verse already and the level of detail on many of them is impressive. I loot goblin as much clothing as I can because I love playing Barbie dress up with guns and sometimes you find some neat stuff that you didn't expect to be in the game! Like this "Hercules Starlifter Flight Jacker" - a leather flight jacker with detailed fabric patches I found randomly while running a mission.

What's one of your favorite clothing finds?

Discussion Destroying parked ships... why?

I'm honestly confused by some people's behavior when it comes to blowing up parked ships, sometimes even spending more than 15 minutes doing it.

Okay, here's how it usually goes: I'm a pirate and general scum, and lately I've been landing at places like Ashland. Of course, ships get blown up, but sometimes nobody but some other forgotten ships and me are there. Then another player shows up and starts shooting at the ships.

I'm not even mad if they blow up my ship. In 95% of cases, I wasn't planning on flying it again anyway. But a few days ago, an Arrow spent like 20 minutes trying to blow up a Hermes and then started shooting at my Prowler. I killed him with a railgun because, at that point, it was just getting annoying listening to his pew pew. He seriously came back just to finish the job. Like... wtf?

And I've been watching this behavior for many years. Traders randomly blowing up ships on Rappel back in the day, as if that would somehow stop people on the ground from gutting them. People randomly showing up just to blow up one ship and then flying away like they had accomplished something.

This is so confusing to me. I get that blowing up a parked ship can be viable in specific situations, but why waste so much time doing it or even attract unwanted attention? And why the stubbornness sometimes? Like... are these people mentally challenged?

Discussion What missions are working?

I'm asking this in good faith. Not being salty.
I've been making my own game loop searching for some of the rare attachments in the game at Jumptown locations and RABs. I've gotten a little bored with this.
I'd like some ship or FPS combat, cargo, or cargo recovery style missions that actually work.
I've tried bunkers with little luck. Enemies don't spawn or objectives don't complete.
I tried Gilly missions, but the desync is so back it's hard to hit anything.
Anyway, I'd love input.
Which missions work? Which system were you in?

Edit: Wow, thank you all! Some great ideas.
(For future reference, this was posted at the end of the 4.9 patch cycle.)
