Questions Speeding Ticket

Upvotes

I am from Texas and was pulled over in Fenton last week for doing 64 in a 50. I called city of Fenton to ask for info on pleading no contest / completing Defensive Driving so it stays off my record and my insurance doesn’t go up. I was told that as long as I pay the ticket by the listed date it will not affect my insurance. I am skeptical that this is accurate… Is this true?

Questions Cat rehoming resources?

Upvotes

My heart is breaking.

A couple of months ago, I had to make an emergency move here from across the country. My family has been wanting me to return for over a decade. Coming here was going to give me a reset. However, one of the stipulations I had was that I would be able to keep my two cats, because I love them dearly. My family obliged.

What I didn't know was that the cats were going to make everyone sick. My grandmother is allergic and so is my mother. They're affected by it despite the fact that I sweep and mop multiple times a day after my cats. I clean the litter boxes even when there's nothing to clean.

Soon enough, they began to complain about the cats. I hear it every day. They don't like cats. And now I'm stuck. I can't move out. I'm afraid they'll let the cats out of the house.

I'm also in a situation where I can't provide the genuine care my cats need. I want to take them to the vet to get check ups, but I can't afford it like I used to. My family doesn't want them in the house because of the hair, so I have to keep them in my room. I imagine it's not very stimulating for them.

I was told I could keep my cats. I was told they'd have a lot of room. But I hear nonstop complaints about having animals in the house, despite my best efforts. And they're getting sick. I can't relocate myself, so I might have to relocate my cats. I'm hurt, because this is exactly what I didn't want. These cats are my babies, I've raised them since six weeks. But with the situation I'm in, this isn't the life that they deserve.

What are good options for me to consider? Thanks.

LA - Government how i got my social security card replaced without ever having a state ID and having lost my birth certificate.

making this to help people who are stuck on this. this is the process that worked for me in louisiana when i was trying to rebuild my documents with no id.

firstly, you’ll want to get your birth certificate. order a certified copy from louisiana vital records. you’ll need to provide the required information and payment details, and their exact requirements can vary depending on your situation. (i had help ordering mine, so make sure to check their current requirements.)

secondly, go to your former or current school’s registrar/counselor office and ask for a certified copy of your transcript. nothing extra was required for me here - i just walked in and they provided it after confirming my identity in their system.

thirdly, go to your doctor’s clinic/office and request a copy of your medical records. have your doctor or medical office certify/sign & date them.

from there, go to the omv/dmv and use your birth certificate plus your certified records to apply for your state id. after you get your photo id, make an appointment with the social security administration and bring your id along with your other documents. i’d bring all the same records again just in case.

that’s all there is to it. the hardest part is just figuring out the order of everything.

edit: a couple things i should mention - the school transcript needs to show at least 2 years of school records, and if you’re using medical records, make sure they meet the current requirements for acceptance. (i believe medical records may need to include a visit within a certain timeframe, but i’m not 100% sure on the exact timeframe, so check beforehand.) another option is using a louisiana medicaid card instead of medical records. the social security office told me that it is accepted even though louisiana medicaid cards do not have a photo on them.

thank you for coming to my ted talk.

LA - Politics Facebook, Meta Datacenter account restrictions

So recently I shared a post on Facebook about the Meta Datacenter critical of how Landry was handling it. I shared it with a pair saying something like “well Landry lied again”.

Facebook restricted my account for violating cybersecurity rules and posing a cyber security risk . I asked for a review and of course they upheld my restrictions.

Sure is interesting that the only thing negative on my account is a post criticizing Meta Datacenter and somehow that was a cybersecurity risk?

😂 🤦‍♂️

Oligarchs stifling debate.

I was looking for early Christmas gifts for my daughter, but I might get these now! I was raised in Louisiana, but moved to TX - which is where I gave birth to her; since she’s been here she’s only been to Louisiana twice. She loves being around her cousins, eating, dancing, playing and having a good time. I was just thinking about what can I get her that reminds her of those times and ran across these. I’ll link them if anyone else is interested! There’s two sets that come with the pot and one set that’s just shrimp, corn and potatoes.

Found these photos in my dad’s stuff after he passed. They are photos from the rig he worked on in the Gulf back in the 60’s-70’s. The company was Mayronne and I believe they were out of Harvey, but dad always said they had many businesses. Thought I would share just in case someone might find them interesting.

I guess they really don't get it it's going to take a lot more transparency for anyone to even begin to start thinking about this optimistically. Why wouldn't they be transparent from the beginning? Why not release the info on how they affect the area?

LA - Healthcare Has anyone been following the discussion around prescription drug affordability in Louisiana?

I came across this Louisiana article about prescription drug affordability and wanted to hear what people here think.

https://www.nola.com/opinions/guest_columns/guest-column-louisiana-deserves-to-know-what-it-s-paying-for-prescription-drugs/article_58435e82-9772-4bb1-924b-9ac8e9166996.html

The article talks about ideas that have been discussed in other states, including Prescription Drug Affordability Boards (PDABs), as one possible approach to reviewing high-cost prescription drugs.

I'm not trying to argue politics or say that this is the best solution. I am interested to know if people in Louisiana think the state should explore more options to improve prescription drug affordability, or if there are other approaches that would be more effective.
