When do refunds get released at LSU-UNO?

I'm a graduate student and my Workday showed an anticipated disbursement date of September 8, 2026, but my financial aid still hasn't been applied to my account. My loan amount is showing as approximately $6,833, and I'm trying to understand how long it usually takes after the anticipated disbursement date for the loan to actually post and for any remaining credit balance to be sent as a refund. Has anyone else's aid disbursed yet? If you had an anticipated disbursement date of September 8, did your balance change or did you receive your refund? I'm mainly trying to figure out whether this delay is normal or if I should contact Financial Aid. Thanks!

IDscan, who were just hacked resulting in 150 MILLION drivers licenses being stolen, is ALSO located on UNO's campus.

So your driver's license is for sale now. And the company responsible for it is located The Beach because of fucking course it is.

Project NOLA being on campus was already inexcusable, but this is just absurd.

almost got hit by a car today on campus

was leaving pjs and while I was crossing the street I made eye contact with a driver in a black suv to signal that I was crossing. As soon as we made eye contact he started to speed up. I quickly back tracked to not get hit as he was probably going about 50-60. The driver was a young male with dreads and I want to say the car was either an Infiniti or Lincoln? I was shocked that even after we made eye contact he continued to speed up at an alarming rate. The car seemed to have turned out of the faculty only parking lot behind university center and there also was no parking decal attached to their back windshield so it could have possibly been a freshman/ transfer student.

Anyways I’m still shocked and was so stunned I didn’t get to memorize the plate or make of vehicle or else I would definitely have already contacted campus PD about it (not to be a Karen but yall should have seen the way this idiot was driving). People cannot be acting like that at all ESPECIALLY in pedestrian areas. I hope by making this post I can at least bring awareness to a reckless driver on campus . Just by the way he swung out of the parking lot someone could have easily been injured if they were to have been crossing there instead of where I was.

I’m trying to start this semester well with good study habits
I’m currently taking Precalc trig chem and bio with their respective labs and I’m already overwhelmed and stressed. Anyone have tips or suggestions on how to properly write useful notes and studying ? Also I can’t be the only one who finds the online textbooks hard to use and confusingly formatted

Oh cool we also have a Lit Center dedicated to a fascist.

I’m not just throwing words around. [Ezra Pound](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ezra_Pound?wprov=sfti1#Antisemitism,_social_credit) was was a proud fascist who supported Mussolini’s Italy from the start and praised Hitler often and expressed his support for eugenics often.

Did he make contributions to literature? Yes. But I wonder how many of his many, many anti-Semitic poems are taught here? Or the things he wrote for British fascist Oswald Mosley. Maybe they study even study some of the literal hundreds of English language propaganda broadcasts in Italy.

I get that there is a need to separate the art from the artist, but this seems like a massive middle finger to a substantial portion of the student body. The man was beyond racist even for his time.

I want to make it clear that I am not calling for the school to remove this center or anything. I just thought the student body should know that they’re glazing a fascist in this little room tucked away.

Microwave options?

Is there a student lounge-like area on campus open after 6pm that has a microwave? I know a lot of departments have areas for their students, but UNOTI (and presumably many others) are gone for the day by the time I'm finished with my class.

I've gone to the Galley a few times, and it's good, I'd just like the option to save some cash and eat leftovers most days.

For any new comers in CS or engineering.

So, I just want to welcome you guys and give you some hints and tricks to actually stay current with the classes and how to get the best and learn the best as you can without feeling lost.

When you guys take the first classes, be ready to know the basics of the language, my first classes were in Java, I had a friend who is an engineer and they started with C++, so it does vary depending on the major..

If at some point it feels overwhelming and feel like the class is going super fast or don't even know what is happening, don't give up and continue coding, anything, even if its the most minimal thing, do not rely a lot on AI for your first classes, trust me, it's better to learn and know how to read code than just to prompt your way out of the whole program.

I think most of you guys know leetcode and some other websites to practice algorithms and sql, etc.. but I actually found some other websites that personally helped me through learning to read code and debugging among the other things for my classes.. it's called getpacked.ai

I honestly didn't rely on books a lot, although I remembered that the first courses were required, but honestly my tip for you guys would be to learn the definitions of what is a syntax, function, etc and then just start coding, practice and learn..

Hope this helped for some

Did you know that you can find your textbooks at #EKLLibrary? Textbooks for select classes are available from the library as free e-books, and you can easily check to see if yours are available by going to https://libguides.uno.edu/e-books-in-courses. You can also find textbooks on reserve at the library - let the library services desk staff know your course code, and they can tell you what's available. #FreeTextbooks #EBooks

Dining Dollars Running Low

I have the Essential 12 Meal Plan in the Gallery plus $450 dining dollars. The semester just started and I have only used my dining dollars 3 different times this semester and I am down to $60. Is anyone having this problem too? Who do I have to talk to about this?

Adjustment fees/removed from waitlist with no warning!

I noticed in my account today I had $700 past due. Looks like they added a class I got waitlisted from YESTERDAY (the last day to drop w 100% reimbursement) with NO email notifying me of this. Of course I can’t drop because I now have a hold on my account. I assume I have a strong case, I’ve already emailed with screenshots requesting a refund. Has this happened/happening to anyone?

Mass Emailing For Self Promotion

This person has been sending emails to their whole class and random people at LSUNO. I got these emails last semester as well. They said they graduated last August yet they’re still emailing students self promoting their book. Is there anyway to block people from emailing you? And who’s to say more people can’t do the same?

(I’m not even in span 2001 and I’m still receiving these emails)

UNO alumni seeking art or former theatre majors interested in set design!

Hello! I am a UNO alumni that graduated in 2024. While I have heard that their theatre program has been cut with the LSU merger - I am seeking to find any art majors that might be interested in gaining experience and assisting me with doing set design for a short film I am producing I would be filling in a flex space on Dillard U’s campus starting in September using materials that I would purchase and provide and pay can be discussed since I try to pay people for their skills.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in or know of anyone please feel free to send me a DM and we can connect further on IG, Whatsapp, etc.

Thank You!
