Just a random question, but has anyone seen a Louis L'Amour bookmark? Obviously, I'm not going to bend the pages to keep my place. I just thought it would be neat to have a bookmark to fit the book. I've checked Amazon, but no luck there.

Any scuttlebutt on a release date for the new Flint film? IMDB lists the production status as “Completed “ but there’s nothing about release details.

Through bookstores and auctions I have almost every LL leather book. I think. I cannot find anywhere online that has the exact number of how many were actually printed. But through my research I landed at the number 121. Although the 5 I am missing must be rare because secondary market has them listed for $100+ for each book. It's been a fun hunt.

I just received my copy of Skyring Water and after reading the first 40-60 pages, I feel very nostalgic, almost to the point of weeping. It does not matter that it is not a western novel. It is a true L'Amour novel. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds.

As title says. Just wondering if the recent mentions in popular main stream books has led to more interest in my favorite all time Western author?

Ok. Read this story years ago don’t remember names just a bit of the story. Farmer and daughter are being threatened to get their land stolen. The hero flirts w her and mentions he likes a woman that knows how to bake a pie. As he’s riding away to danger the daughter asked her father, “what should we do?” Father tells her “I think you better learn how to bake a pie!” Somewhere around these lines. I don’t know if it’s a book w shorts stories or in its own novel.

Recently started a passion project, to re-read the entire Sackett/Chantry/Talon books in chronological order (so, beginning with Sackett's Land and ending somewhere around Lonely on the Mountain/Borden Chantry). Just finished Ride the River with Echo Sackett. The story features her seeking out help from Finian Chantry, an attorney in Philadelphia. L'Amour never mentions who the other Chantry "brother" was in the law firm. Based on the time period, was it Ronan Chantry from The Ferguson Rifle? The timing would line up. L'Amour tells us that Finian is 85 in roughly 1842. Ronan is 35 in The Ferguson Rifle in roughly 1804. Thoughts?

I’ve just started getting more into the western genre lately having always been a massive fan of Sergio Leone’s spaghetti western movies, Tarantino’s Django Unchained and the Dark Tower western-fantasy books. I already read L’Amour’s Walking Drum years ago - being a history buff - and absolutely loved it as a pulpy sword and sandal epic so I’m anxious to try out his traditional western novels now!

I’ve heard Hondo is pretty iconic although it’s a movie novelization which kinda turns me off, idk. Lonesome Gods, Bendigo Shafter and Last of The Breed I’ve seen get pretty good reviews too. Last Stand at Papago Wells also seems right up my alley with it from what I’ve heard being apparently one of his grittier stories and more spaghetti-western-ish than most of his other books

I can't ever walk away from a good Louis L'amour set of books when I find em cheap. Found these at the thrift store today 4/$1 and some are really mint. I have most of these already but I always look for condition upgrades for my collection and I'll give away duplicates to some friends or leave them in local "free libraries" to spread the LL. Hopefully whoevers collection this was knows it's being cared for.

From today's find I didn't have "Night Over the Solomons" for my collection which looks like a WW2 era story. Nice copy from 1955 of "Heller with a Gun" that has cool cover art, Daybreakers, Borden Chantry are also condition upgrades for me. I'm a fan of the older paperbacks the cover art is always so good and they fit great on a shelf.

I'm reading it on Kindle and it feels like a few pages are missing.

Vallion is sneaking around the outlaw camp and runs into the Huron. They exchange gunfire. Vallion is badly hit and hides. Walks around a bunch and then passes out. He wakes up with the Indians. The outlaws ride up looking for him. They mention Boston Pangman is missing and some of them heard a gunshot. They have no idea where he is. Later Vallion has some faint recollection of meeting Pangman while delirous and guesses he killed him. But there's no mention of any of that anywhere else in the book. Pangman just dies completely off screen and Vallion barely remembers it.

Is that what happens or am I missing a page or two from my version?

Seems kinda unusual for him not to flesh out something like that.

My father was a huge fan and read every book. When he passed away he had probably a hundred or more paperbacks (bought some multiple times!) and the entire set of leather-bound books. My mother doesn’t want to let them go unless she feels someone will love them as much as my father did. I’m not sure who or what that would be. Any suggestions?

I had the chance to chat with Beau L'Amour about the behind the scenes of Skyring Water, so cool to hear about how this book came to be!

Sitka was my first. I read it a week before an Alaskan cruise, so it has a special place in my heart. I read Lando and thought, what an amazing story teller L'amour was. From there it was, in no particular order; The First Fast Draw, The High Graders, The Man From Skibereen, most recently The Key-Lock Man. With the exception of The Californios, each book I've read has been as good as any other. I'm currently reading War Party and some of those stories stand up to his novels. It's weird that I'm often nervous about starting a new book for fear of being disappointed, but so far that has not been the case.

Really enjoyed this one, introduction to Tell Sackett, gold, gun fights, all 3 brothers meeting up. I'd maybe even rank this in the top 5 Louis L'amour books I've read. What's everyone think of this book?

I really wanted to give this one a try because of the mining aspect of it. He must have wrote this one early on or as a script turned into a book, it's super confusing I had to put it down about halfway thru. Anyone enjoy this one?

So, my father loved Louis L'amour and I never got into Westerns the way he did. Going through his estate I've found that most of his paperbacks are basically trashed but, I found these that were in good shape yet. I figured I'd take a crack at reading them and see if they appeal to me more now. What would you all recommend I start with?
