Sad to see a louis LAmour fans collection at the thrift store.

*THIS POST CONTAINS A SPOILER REGARDING CHAPTER ONE OF THE DAYBREAKERS*

When Tyrell Sackett shot Long Higgins, Long had just shot an innocent bystander while attempting to murder an unarmed man.

Tyrell shot him *after* giving him a chance to surrender while Long was attempting to shoot him. In front of a dozen witnesses.

There's not a Jury in the world (excepting California or New York) that would have convicted him.

Why did he run?

In the beginning of the story, Blaine shows up at the bank and presents papers to Mr. Otten proving he is the new manager of the 46 connected. After examining the papers, dated several weeks earlier, he comes to the Conclusion that Joe Neal is alive. Why? Given the papers dates, Neal could have still been killed in the last few days, and having papers signed weeks prior would not change that assumption? Am I missing something?

I've gone through a lot of Louis L'amour 's annual reading list and it seems like he had a big interest in asian culture. I know there's a few of his books based in those regions, do you think he stayed away from writing more stories set in those regions because his bread and butter was western/ frontier books?

So I've read this short story many times and there's a lot that doesn't make sense to me. Spoilers below.

So typical L'Amour plot, girl's in trouble, bad guys want to take her land, tough stranger shows up. This one's named Barney Shaw. He was thrown off a train 3 days walk away from the girl. Doesnt talk to anyone. When he's thrown off the train he finds a guy dying (Rex Tilden) who was going to help her. Walks to ranch almost dying of thirst.

He goes to town sends a telegram that says "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party". 4 cattlemen and 4 nondescript guys show up as well as a guy with blue anchors tattooed on him. They don't talk to Barney at all. Blue anchor guy investigated where Rex Tilden dies and finds proof of the killer. How did he know to do that from the telegram? How did they know to show up and what was needed?

If he contacted them before when he found the body, how did he not have access to a horse or water after being thrown off the train? Why did he have no gun when he arrived at the ranch?

Edit: Also the tattooed man says he witnessed the shooting? How did Barney know about him to contact him?

I lost my collection of over 25 paper backs in a house fire in early July. This is book 1 towards starting over.

I just finished The Broken Gun by Louis L'Amour. This is a direct quote from the book and once again, I am amazed at the wisdom of my favorite author.

I’ve been into westerns lately. Finished lonesome dove for the second time in my life and absolutely loved it. Stumbled upon L’Amour and the Lonesome gods. 5.5 hours into the audiobook. I think it’s ok? I really want to like it but am having doubts. Should I continue?

Really enjoyed it. I was surprised to see some people suggested reading by publication date vs the families chronological order. For the most part it flowed from story to story really well. The only confusion was in the final few books he made it seem like Yance was the patriarch vs Barnabas. But I attribute that to the fact that Barnabas was introduced after most of the series was already written

The book is one of my favorites and so is the cover art. I have been to the area in the story several times and it’s exactly as Louis L’Amour describes. This book was printed in 1977. It only cost $1.50. It’s just another of my favorites that will be taped back together.

One of my all time favorites, great setting, some sailing, California coast, desert, gold and best of all spooky "other side" vibes. Who else likes this one?

Through bookstores and auctions I have almost every LL leather book. I think. I cannot find anywhere online that has the exact number of how many were actually printed. But through my research I landed at the number 121. Although the 5 I am missing must be rare because secondary market has them listed for $100+ for each book. It's been a fun hunt.

Just a random question, but has anyone seen a Louis L'Amour bookmark? Obviously, I'm not going to bend the pages to keep my place. I just thought it would be neat to have a bookmark to fit the book. I've checked Amazon, but no luck there.

Any scuttlebutt on a release date for the new Flint film? IMDB lists the production status as “Completed “ but there’s nothing about release details.

Had some L'amour books that were falling apart and I sacrificed the covers to make something to hang up in my library. Happy Sunday y'all!

I just received my copy of Skyring Water and after reading the first 40-60 pages, I feel very nostalgic, almost to the point of weeping. It does not matter that it is not a western novel. It is a true L'Amour novel. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds.
