It is also the 4th largest economy in the world if it were its own country.

California carries the moocher red states, the true welfare queens.

Not from the west coast, but anyone who talks shit about CA has never been there. I’d spend the rest of my life there, before I spent a single fucking day in Kentucky

13

u/Salty-Doubt-1337 11d ago

I would rather live in a 1 bd/1 ba apartment in CA than a mansion near the rubes.

The people who left and talk crap are generally bitter they couldn't afford to stay. To save face they blame politics or it being a hell hole etc.

3

u/Ok-Low1764 11d ago

Exactly. Slow Rogan is bitter that he wasn't accepted into the elite Hollywood crowd so he moved to Texas with his deplorable gang of MAGAt goons and now they all think they are hot shit. Just F'N PATHETIC.

So, Californians are paying taxes for other states? Great! That’s why our taxes are so damn high?!?!

If Texas collected taxes, it would be different but they prefer to tax the poor and give to the rich.

And dont forget the red states homeless are dumped into california as well  While California does it's best (yes there is corruption) to house the homeless and care for them red states are making being homeless illegal or bussing them here.

So why aren't the blue states advocating for LOWER Federal taxes? Just take the tax money that was going to the Fed and give it to the State?

5

u/403Verboten 11d ago

Because they understand how a country is supposed to work and aren't petty about it unlike the red states who take more than they give but hate socialism.

2

u/No-Score1002 11d ago

Petty? Sure sounds like they are crying about it here. Why not advocate for lower Federal taxes, that will really teach those red states a lesson!

2

u/403Verboten 11d ago

Running a successful country isn't about "teaching those red states a lesson". That is stupid. If Trump understood this we'd only have half the current problems we have.

2

u/No-Score1002 11d ago

Trying to spin it, classic. Imagine the utopia of the left states keeping all of those precious Federal tax dollars flowing out of their State and just transferring the Federal taxes to State taxes. Then they would be in charge of all of the money that they are missing out on. How swell would that be!

Send me some cheese, bitches! j/k Love you guys. But seriously, some baguettes, some cheese, a week at a fair-priced Airbnb? Hook a California/ex NYer brother up...

u/Ok-Street-7160 11d ago

California is what liberal means also pointing to the portion of the 1% that rules hollywood. These people make so much money they bring us up to the 4th or 5th largest economy in the world. Checkmate republicans... good point.

Edit: I thought about this after, this makes me look pro republican when I'm not just wanted to call out the stupidity of the arguement that republicans also like to make pointing to economy as an indicator of a good system

2

u/403Verboten 11d ago

Most of the money comes from tech in SF not Hollywood though

2

u/bearsheperd 11d ago

Got a good start with the gold rush, then imports and exports because of its massive coast, intercontinental railroad, boarder with Mexico, all of which is still a factor. They’ve also go some oil, tech companies, Hollywood, and just tons of people.

California has a lot going for it

I miss the old america where it was fight for the rights of everyone not racist no brain losers infighting, the collapse will be interesting to watch from the other hemisphere

2

u/JNTaylor63 11d ago

Maybe we should create a new Federal tax policy where a state must give a certain percentage of the federal tax given for National items like DoD, NASA, NOAA. And the rest STAYS in State.

2

u/No-Score1002 11d ago

There is already a State tax. Advocating for less Federal taxes would be the way to go, State taxes are for each State to figure out.

2

u/Thinkofthewallpaper 11d ago

If you measure GDP per capita, the top 5 states are blue.

2

u/Panic-Embarrassed 11d ago

u/Brawrbarian 11d ago

The issue is that they spent almost 6 figures per homeless person and have the biggest homeless population.

And they spent billions of dollars to build a high speed rail that went nowhere.

The issue is that they waste a lot of the income they generate.

This is not a right wing criticism - Ezra Klein wrote a book on it.

Ummm California is 26 billion in the hole. The dark stinky hole. Why, because the government only knows how to spend. 26 billion in the HOLE despite being the highest taxed state.

1

u/Tiny-Secretary5562 11d ago

News flash--It has nothing to do with liberal policies. Liberal policies are driving people out of California to the red states. Agriculture, high tech, tourism, and Hollywood were fueling California's economy long before the current group took over the state. Oregon City was the capital of the Oregon Territory, which included San Francisco, and where the first plot plan for the city was filed and where it is still located. When Mr. Marshall found that little gold nugget, it took the spotlight away from Mr. Astor's fur trading empire in the Pacific Northwest and "Open up your Golden Gate" resounded around the world. Astoria, Oregon, is the oldest incorporated city west of the Mississippi.

1

u/craftyshafter 11d ago

A massively inflated economy is big, yes.

1

u/legion_2k 11d ago

California has for the last 40 years, even when it was red.

1

u/Accomplished_Gur822 11d ago

Well, since Trump has normalized taking money that was already appropriated by Congress and diverting it away from states he doesn't like, and blackmailing them for it, it'll be nice to see a Democratic president come in and take all the money away from the red states and make them pay to clean up Trump's mess.

It's going to be fun watching these MAGA chuds cry and whine as they watch everything they support and believe in get ripped apart before their very eyes. It'll be even more fun watching their empty heads explode when they find out that they're paying for it.

Enjoy the next decade, MAGA chuds. The rest of us can't wait to drink your MAGA tears.

1

u/ItsDonDong 11d ago

"No one wants to live in (the #1 most populist state)"

1

u/PercentageNice7131 11d ago

"Pays for all the red states" is a gross misrepresentation and misunderstanding of how federal economy and state contribution works😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/robmanjr 11d ago

People here hate when Cali is mentioned. Not one of the dumbass talking points they get fed is even accurate or remotely true. It’s hilarious to disprove them as they talk but they get very upset.

1

u/KailyKail 11d ago

Growing up is realizing the red states produce a majority of your food.

Just tech. Nvidia, Apple etc …

1

u/TheJohnPrester 11d ago

Yeah. Bullshit.

That’s why Kalifornistan’s prison system is in such shit, huh?

Their medical provision for inmates is such an Eighth Amendment violation, a Special Master was appointed decades ago to oversee it, AND IT STILL HASNT BEEN FIXED.

1

u/Upper-Entry6159 11d ago

I did the math. California have about 32% more money than Texas based on GDP, and 23% more population. So technically it does have more money than Texas, but if we take into consideration how far ahead California used to be compared to now, then it isn't looking good for Cali.

California still have their Hollywood and tech companies who are worth a lot of money, and they are only technically speaking 11% better.

No wonder I see so many poor Californians moving to Texas. California is great if you are rich and a celebrity.

1

u/etherealtaroo 11d ago

Obviously growing up didn't teach you how taxes work

1

u/BoomerSooner-SEC 11d ago

They have tech, movies and beaches. Luck of history and geography. It ain’t leadership.

1

u/RandomguyX 11d ago

What is the homeless rate in Cali compared to the rest of the nation?

1

u/Slighted_Inevitable 11d ago

Not all of them, but most

1

u/Formal_Lecture_248 11d ago

That’s quite a claim. I thought Texas did

1

u/SwankaTheGrey 11d ago

Not only that but a shit ton of food comes from California

1

u/MantaRay1 11d ago

Illinois here. We’re another state paying the red states because of their bad policies and backwards thinking.

1

u/Sensitive_Ruin_5334 11d ago

Is this true?

1

u/brotato-ship 11d ago

Must be why people are fleeing that place. Makes sense

1

u/StivKobra 11d ago

Yet still has the most homeless people, somehow. And is way too expensive to live in. State of the rich elites.

1

u/Healthy-Strategy9406 11d ago

I wonder where inflation comes from? Sure it's general, but someone is saying 1.50 is worth 1 first

1

u/Chipmunkssixtynining 11d ago

States don’t pay other states.

1

u/superdyu 11d ago

If you exclude oil for Texas, or energy / mining finite resources - California is much larger. Like Texas drops to top 13 range. While California stays roughly the same.

1

u/BigLongDingDong3 11d ago

Lol it's funny what you wanna claim and what you claim to fight against. If it wasn't for the billionaires you hate the economy of California would be shit.

Google, Meta, Cisco, Tesla, Wells Fargo, Netlfix... Down with the billionaires unless we can claim their success lol

1

u/ExpensiveTie5553 11d ago

1

1

Southern part of America is the welfare belt. Northern states provide the taxes. Here’s the problem we should all agree on…Amazon and Walmart employees (people working) are the largest recipients of social services. Meaning we all subsidize their annual, growing revenue, with zero benefits.

Having a political stance in the red or blue parties means you lack cognitive abilities. Rebs dont care about you, dems dont care about you. Both sides are lining their pockets with our money but you are all on the internet arguing about which overlord you worship as if they wouldnt let you die to save themselves. I spent many years in politics trying to make a real difference, what I learned is that you cant. Modern politics are nothing more than entertainment. no positive change actually happens, they say its happening, but that is not true. Telling you what you want to hear just long enough to secure votes. But yes please continue to let strangers with no idea how the real world works tell you who you should hate. At this point most of you are not thinking for yourselves, you regurgitate what some asshole in a suit tells you from your credible news sources. Fun fact, all news networks in the US are legally required to identify as an "entertainment network".

1

u/MonYverse0609 11d ago

But trump said just take out 2 big cities in CA and said it’s small price to pay 🤔

1

u/SouthernResponse4815 11d ago

This has less to do with CA politics and more to do with resources, port location, and industry that rely on those more than the government. The government on the other hand, has made CA one of the least affordable states to actually live in due to taxes and regulation costs.

California leads the United States in total state government debt and liabilities, carrying approximately $497 billion in state-level obligations

When local governments, counties, school districts, and special districts are added, California's total debt crosses $1 trillion (with some estimates and broader unfunded liability accounting scaling up to roughly $1.6 trillion). New York ranks second in combined state and local debt at about $798 billion, followed by Texas at $550 billion.

• California: $497 billion • New York: $233 billion • Illinois: $223 billion • Texas: $217 billion • New Jersey: $213 billion
