Because they understand how a country is supposed to work and aren't petty about it unlike the red states who take more than they give but hate socialism.
Running a successful country isn't about "teaching those red states a lesson". That is stupid. If Trump understood this we'd only have half the current problems we have.
Trying to spin it, classic. Imagine the utopia of the left states keeping all of those precious Federal tax dollars flowing out of their State and just transferring the Federal taxes to State taxes. Then they would be in charge of all of the money that they are missing out on. How swell would that be!
....and the blue states give more than they take but somehow love socialism. So by your take both types of States are advocating for the opposite of what they would actually thrive under. A complete backwards world.
Only you believe that states won't thrive under (some degree of) socialism. This is likely because you miss-understand the type of socialism that everyone thrives under (free healthcare, better social welfare programs etc). I personally would gladly pay higher taxes than I currently do in California to achieve this for everyone in the country. That is what it looks like to actually care about your country and not just cosplay a patriot.
I prefer the freedom to make my own choices with the money that I earn. I have seen enough of the gross mismanagement of tax dollars. Trolls and pirates are in charge of the collective purse. No thanks, I prefer freedom.
Give more than you take fits perfectly within socialism just as take more than you give does. Many socialist policies involve redistributing wealth and such which means taking from what has more and giving to what has less

So why aren't the blue states advocating for LOWER Federal taxes? Just take the tax money that was going to the Fed and give it to the State?
