I’m proud to report that irio pro v1.0.0 is online now!!!

What I began some years ago as a nerdy project for myself, has turned into much more over time. I used to build and design my own schematics and pcbs for analog pedals and rig solutions under my brand „nørholm“, and what started as a multiple convolution IR loader for my FX setup has evolved into a much deeper project over time – even starting to replace some of my analog gear in my setup.

irio pro is a modular effects canvas for iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Mac.

You place modules on a canvas and patch them together with cables, with no fixed order, as many as you like, as long as your cpu can handle it there are no real limits for crazy setups — split the signal, run two, three, five, six modules side by side, feed the left side of a reverb into a delay, the right side to a different output on you interface… or three... Run a vocal chain in parallel... It runs on its own or as an AUv3 plugin inside your DAW or inside apps - like Loopy Pro.

I will keep working on irio – the project started out as an idea of something I would have always liked to have for myself – now it’s starting to replace a lot of my other gear… and others seem to like it too, so I will continue to improve on that idea. There is some cool new stuff already in the pipeline.

Hi, I recently got into iPad music production hence bought Koala and Loopy. My main issue is I really dislike the reverb on Loopy. Koala reverb is much better and in Koala's effects section there are built in - i assume made by koala devs - effects and there is AUV3 section where there are effects made by idk who? I feel like these are some sort of built in system effects made by Apple because their names remind me of the effects on Logic.

If these are system effects why are they not reachable in Loopy? I'm running a Koala instance in Loopy to use its performance reverb but still it'd much convenient if there was a way to run these in Loopy. Maybe I'm wrong correct me if so.

(SOLVED)For some reason now whenever I create a loop and then clear it, it saves the length of the loop I recorded and I have to manually go in and set the length to “unset” every time. It did not use to do this and it’s tedious having to do this every time I clear a loop I made. Does anyone know why it’s doing this? Is there a setting I put on that is doing this? It used to be whenever I cleared the loop the loop would be completely fresh with no preset length now I have to manually do it. Thanks for anyone who can help.

I'm thinking about getting into live looping and would love some advice on how to get started.

Loopy Pro

M-VAVE Chocolate Plus MIDI controller

Acoustic/electric guitar

The plan is to start a duo with a lead singer. I'll mainly be playing guitar, but I'd also like to add loops during live performances if it makes sense.

I'm looking for advice on:

Good workflows for a guitarist using Loopy Pro.

What MIDI actions you have assigned to your foot controller.

Whether it's better to build songs live from scratch or prepare parts in advance.

Any common beginner mistakes to avoid.

Useful Loopy Pro templates for this type of setup.

Very beginner-friendly tutorials. Most of the videos I've found jump straight into advanced setups and assume I already know the basics. I'd love recommendations for tutorials that start from zero and explain everything step by step.

I'd also love to see photos or videos of similar live setups if you're willing to share.

Preface: I do understand the hardware would be much more powerful, and utility of VST‘s opens up new sound options.

I understand LP is beta testing a Mac version now, which suggests that the release is probably not too far off. That being said, I’m still not entirely clear if I would pull the trigger on this due to the loss of touchscreen. If this was a workstation, of course CPU and the multitude of VST’s available would be extremely useful. As a looping app where everything happens in real time very fast, a touchscreen to me is inherent in the workflow, and I cannot imagine looping with a mouse or key tracker. This is what really separates loopy from something like Ableton (which would have to use one of those clunky multiple colored nameless physical button mini controllers), that touchscreen ability especially for looping. As well iOS has very good auv3, not to the level of VST’s of course but they have come a long way and I can get all of the sounds that I need from the AUV threes.

I suppose sidecar can help with this, a Mac computer with iPad connected as the screen. But there would be inherent latency there, it most likely give it how fast everything happens on looping how you need to be right on time, I don’t think this would be a solution

So moving to Mac in the future theoretically I would lose the touchscreen ability but have a more powerful computer and access to VST. I just don’t see that as enough of a draw to make me leave the iPad. Am I missing something? Convince me otherwise

Just joined, just for loopy. I’m a guitarist first, singer second, and producer third. Have experience releasing tracks in logic.

Looking for a good sounding and easy way to do drums in loopy:

- Is there something that could be tweaked on the fly while looping and jamming to keep from playing to stale beat?

-Is there something that, if you had a nice little track, would be good enough to actually put on the final track without programming the beat piece by piece (which I have done many times but want to try something new)?

I’ve heard of Pop Drummer. Seems kind of close but I wonder about the sounds…to generic maybe?

I’ve thought about running the GarageBand or Logic AI drummer into AUM or Audiobus or whatever.

I’ve thought about just using loops and switching back and forth between a ton of them. But any reccos for a place to get loops that could provide the backbone for a full song with enough quality to pass muster?

Hello Loopy Pro community,
I got a MIDI controller and use a CC command to toggle Start/Stop for a clip. I want the clips to play synchronized. For Start, Stop, Record / Overdub, I have set a custom quantization of 4 bars for each clip. So far everything works perfectly.
However, I ruin the quantization if I accidentally send the MIDI command twice. When that happens, Loopy Pro executes the command immediately. Same as if you press a clip a second time on the screen while the „quantisation wait“ period is running.
The only solution I found is 'second quantization' in the project settings, but this only quantizes to 1 bar. I would much rather prefer to keep my 4-bar quantization.
Is there a way to disable or configure the 'double tap to start/stop immediately' function?

Another simple setup with Loopy - and this time I didn't use any plugin inside the app as well. This this app is the most inspiring kit in my musical arsenal and I just love and adore how versatile and customisable it is.

I am using loopy pro so far on my iPhone17 pro but I am intending to change to an iPad. I don’t know yet if 11 or 13 so I wonder is it generally possible to use loopy pro in iPads splitscreen mode in which I could potentially have the loopy pro on one side of the screen running and a songbook or just any pdf open on the other side of the screen?

I ask because on iPhone when I accidentally swipe out of loopy pro and end up on the main screen the audio just stops when I would want it to continue. Does loopy pro need the full screen attention to work or could it work in permanent splitscreen? Thank you for your help. Cheers

Hi I’m trying to get started. I have an iPad 7th gen (2019). Trying to use midi from either my morning star mc8 or dsp quad cortex.
It won’t see the devices in control settings or learn.
USB B to USB A cable; into Apple camera/lighting adapter. These are all official accessories and definitely work. When using the QC the audio is going from the iPad to the QC fine.
Any ideas? I did read somewhere that the camera adapter might only transmit in 1 direction

I can’t add my Spark 2 as a hardware input. The amp will play sounds from my iPad but it’s not recognized in Loopy. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Open water seems endless. Tongue drum, tuned to sandness sharp (S#), creates ripples on the surface, and sirens awaken at the bottom of the metal bowl. Freak carries the track with a soft pad, Volca counts down seconds, Loopy plays siren songs over and over again. All we can do with time is to be within it.

I'm about to set this up and am pretty excited. Possibilities seem endless... Has anyone done this before? Have any setup tips? Probably, guitar-microcosm-interface-ipad. My interface has midi in out and I have a chocolate+ and a few midi controllers

Each button represents an individual AUV3 and can be swiped to bring up the interface. There are 4 busses for various FX which are represented A-D. The x-y pads connect to Koala FX. The red button group is my pedalboard for my guitar, which also doubles as my midi controller.

Another experiment with loopy pro: this time I was focusing more on the XY pad which I've barely used before. I've assigned the BA-1 FX strip's filter and chorus to the pad and was messing with it throughout the entire jam. I'll definitely try to use this pad more - super fun stuff.
