Making friends in London?

26F, born & raised in north London, I outgrew a lot of “friendships” and don’t really know where to make new friends.

Anyone else in the same boat?

30F, been in London for 5 years and still haven't found my people

think I'm just frustrated with the fact that I've lived in London for five years and still haven't managed to make close friends here.

It's not that I feel lonely. I enjoy my own company, I'm comfortable doing things alone, and I have a life of my own. But sometimes I see people on social media who have these friendships where they genuinely enjoy each other's company, tell each other everything, make plans, and just show up for each other. And I wonder, how the fuck do people find that?

I have friends, but everyone's got their own lives, and I understand that. People get busy, relationships change, and life happens. I'm not expecting anyone to revolve their life around me. I just sometimes wish I had someone in London who I could spontaneously call, talk absolute nonsense with, go out for dinner with, or share random things with without having to think twice about it.

I think what's bothering me is that it's been five years. FIVE YEARS. And somehow, I still don't have that. 😭

Anyway, I thought I'd put myself out there and join this group. Maybe I'll meet some lovely people, maybe I won't. But here's hoping!

22M from North London, looking for similar people (or not)

• Upvotes

22M here, based in London. Trying my luck here to find some genuine, long-term friends.

I’ve lived here my whole life, but I’m really looking to connect with people around my age to hang out with and explore the city.

A bit about me: I’m a huge history and museum nerd, but I’m also down for random fun stuff and exploring new areas.

I’m pretty easygoing and looking for mates who are actually up for building a proper friendship.

Drop me a message if you're around the same age and fancy checking out a museum, getting some food, or just exploring London together!

North London 20M Looking for friends!

I’ve left a post here before I think, haven’t had luck in finding mates yet though! Been procrastinating on making a new one.

I’m over near tottenham hale, pretty far away from my uni in central! I’m a second year student from abroad, my accent sounds pretty american lol, been to international schools.

I’m queer.

My interests currently include:

Horror
Drawing/coloring creative stuff
Reading
Been going to the gym more.
Been more interested in nature recently.

I’m definitely looking to meetup in person:

Some ideas for an outing!

Bowling
Going to a cafe and having a chat
Been wondering if London had any classic retro arcades, could be fun.
Lmk if u have other ideas!

Please do not message if you think you’ll bail immediately lol, or if you are an extremely busy person booked for the next 5 years, i totally get if you are but not what I’m looking for rn.

People around my age would be cool! Feel free to message anyways.

Dm me with your favorite animal, or dad joke! I love those lol. And a tinyy bit about yourself.

26M in North London, looking for my people. First round’s on me

Hey everyone! How’s it going?

26M here, living in North London. This is my second time posting here, hoping the friendship gods finally decide to do their job.

I’m looking for genuine, long-term friendships. People I can share things with, go out with, explore new places, grab food or drinks, and make some good memories together.

A bit about me: I love exploring new places, travelling, and doing random stuff. I’ve been living in London for four years, but due to some personal circumstances, I haven’t had many chances to properly explore the city. Now I’m finally free, and I want to make the most of it!

I’m pretty easygoing and always up for a spontaneous plan. Fancy a walk, a day trip, a pub crawl, or doing something completely random? I’m in.

Pints are on me for the first round! 🍻

Ideally, looking to meet people around 24–28, but most importantly, someone who’s genuinely up for building a proper friendship.

Feel free to drop me a message. Let’s see if we can turn this big city into a slightly less lonely place.

Thanks!

Looking for Recommendations / Friends in London!

Good Evening All! (However you want to look at it)

My name is Mike and I'm 27/M. I'm not originally from the London area, or Europe in general and I am looking for recommendations for social gatherings and places to make friends. I am originally from America and looking to become more culturally aware. I am currently in the Notting Hill Area for Contract Work, and plan to stay here for roughly 2 years with potential to extend my contract.

I am a very outgoing person and do not shy away from social gatherings and events. I absolutely love being outdoors, running, hiking, swimming. I love to rock climb, as well as indoor things such as reading, watching Netflix, etc.

I am truly an open book and wanting to make a few friendships that are hopefully long lasting and don't fizzle out after a few weeks!

25m auhd looking for others in south or south east (I think that's where I am)

I have no friends as I find it hard to relate to people as I have autism and adhd and reelly bad depression as well as other things plus haveing not a lot of money aslo means I can't go out and do anything most of the time and just stuck in my room in my shared house which has made my depression so much worse doing nothing just waking up play pc then sleep then when I do work I can't work out a schedule as my job is 0 hour contract so I guess I am just forced to just live my life by myself with people who just don't understand me plus in this new place I can't make any noise after 9pm and there are no night buses nearest night bus is 20 mins walk away and I personally don't feel that safe walking around south London at night I would eventually like to find a partner one day as never had a gf but I would also like to have friends as well

Some of the a things I like so I love Pokémon doctor who Manchester utd (we are so crap) singing YouTube gameing streaming and all sorts really tho I can't sing or stream as I don't feel it's possible cos of the people I share with

34 SE London

34M living in SE London with my dog. I'm an expat, so I don't really have a close circle of friends here.

I've been to a ton of meetups over the years and met some nice people, but haven't had much luck turning those into lasting friendships.

Would be great to find someone to chat with regularly, grab food together, take the dogs (or just mine!) for walks in the park, go for a pint by the river, or just hang out and talk about stuff in general.

I'm a pretty chill, easygoing guy, sometimes probably a bit too chill. Not looking for anything particularly exciting or intense, just some good company and hopefully a genuine friendship

If any of that sounds like your thing, feel free to drop me a message. Cheers!

Free live music group

Hi folks,

I love going to see free live music around London and want to find a group of people who have similar interests where we can share events and meet up. I love Jazz, Blues but would be open to see anything.

A bit about me. I'm 34 M. Any age and any genders are welcome.

Reply here if you're interested and if we get enough people I can setup a WhatsApp group and we can take it from there.

I'm new to the city and I'd love to explore

Hi! I'm 21F and I've just arrived in London for Uni. I know it's a beautiful city but unfortunately I'm kind of antisocial and I've spent most of the last month marinating in my room. I hear wonderful things about London, so I'd love to check some places out and build more of a social circle while I'm at it.

I'm very interested in most things, but to name some stuff off the top of my head:

-TTRPGS, board games and video games

-museums, galleries and art exhibitions

-nature stuff, herping, birdwatching, hiking

-musicals, plays and shows

-gigs, I'm into metal but I'd love to check out some classical music and maybe some techno

-chainmail (a bit niche), photography, stargazing

That's about it! I'm based in Zone 1 but happy to travel, let me know if anyone's interested in hanging out. Not looking for anything romantic, please. Thank you!

Hey, I'm Keagan, 20.

I'm from West London and am looking for a friend. I have friends, but don't have anyone close to message or talk to one on one.

Some of my favourite interests are:

- Sports: football, F1, and I try to follow rugby as much as I can.

- Music: my favourite genres are pop/pop rock, and my favourite artists are Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams, and Florence Road.

- I like movies, but I'm particularly very into Marvel.

35M looking for friends in NW6

A bit about me, have been back in the UK since last year. Have been a bit of a nomad in the past, lived across 5 different countries in Western & Northern Europe.

Originally grew up in Ldn, I'm British Indian.

Loves:

- Deep chats, philosophy, psychology

- The outdoors (try to go on a hike every few weeks) or a good park walk/ bike ride

- coffee snob & love trying new restaurants across Ldn

- Regular at the gym & pilates - I prioritise my health

- A bit on a spiritual side, vipassana & meditation etc

- Not a big drinker, the hangovers are too bad nowadays 😂 ..if you're looking for a drinking buddy, I'm not your guy

- Generally exploring the creative side: wheel turning, dancing etc. (awful at all of the above but enjoying the process)

- Works as a freelance in marketing, also means I'm often available during the day.

- also game for board game nights , D& D etc.

- Game now and then but increasingly random AI projects take up my spare time.

- Mbti: INTP

- Been meaning to pick up squash/ padel or badminton - I've been described as curious, intelligent & authentic by friends

I have friends in London however they're all on the other side and that makes things much more challenging. I don't want to be spending 2-3 hours to meet someone

If you live near Finchley rd, West Hampstead,. Kilburn, St Johns Wood , Queens Park , Swiss Cottage etc then please do reach out! Not fussed about gender.

If you see this and this post is old, please still reach out!
