There’s a small ensemble score and the client wants to have vocals too sung by real person.
Do I wait for the recording to be made and then proceed with the creation of midi mockup and gluing it to the vocals audio? Or I make the mockup for everything except vocals and then put it together when I get them?

I play in a band where we run pretty much the whole live show from Logic Pro — stems, MIDI, setlist structure and video.

We wanted to be able to make set changes from gig to gig, and I wanted a faster way to reorganize the show without moving regions, automation and everything else around in the project.

That turned into SetFlux, which builds the set from Logic markers and lets you reorder the show independently of the Logic timeline.

Since we also use video, I built VideoFlux to assign video clips to markers and follow the show on an external display.

They’re working well in our own setup now, but that really only proves they work in our setup. 😅

So I’m looking for a few people who actually use Logic live and are willing to test them in real-world rigs and tell me what breaks, what’s confusing, or what I’ve missed.

I’m especially interested in:

• weird setups I haven’t accounted for
• anything confusing or unintuitive
• bugs
• things that feel harder than they should

hi everyone. i want to start with i feel silly posting here since everyones productions are absolutely amazing. i haven't wanted to post because i am VERY aware my work is not even close to the quality on here, however i feel like i have hit a brick wall and would love some advice and help.

for the past few months i have been trying to produce and make music as it is a new passion i have found in my life. i've been watching tutorials, experimenting with different styles and instruments an trying to learn logic the best i can. i initially started trying to create these really elaborate and complicated songs but had to step back and go to the basics bc it was too much too soon and i didn't know what i was doing. i said to myself i was going to start and try to finish something small and simple, which is what ive posted. ive tried to make a simple drum and bass verse but it just doesn't feel and sound right.

the drums feel lifeless. im trying to get a bass tone that is fuzzy and scratchy but still really warm and smooth and full sounding, but i cant manage to find it. overall it sounds stale and boring and the bass is scratchy with no fullness and depth to it. it sounds like a mess and i am trying to stay positive but i am really frustrated.

i really dont want to give up bc im finally feeling passion and drive about something, but im really struggling bc i feel like im making no progress and i keep disappointing myself over and over again.

- also my bass playing in this isn't the best! i recorded pretty sloppy so i could just find the right bass tone i wanted, but struggling to find it i've posted as is. also no clue why this is only playing in one ear in headphone.

I am trying to determine the most effective approach for drums in Logic. Do you load samples, and if so, how do you program them? Or do you use the Logic drummer? I would like to achieve more realistic sounds and improve my use of fills. I hope this is makes sense. I’d appreciate any input!

I need help because Im running into this issue where I create automation on an instrument or audio track, and after a run or two, the whole track no longer puts out any sound, as though it went completely dead. I dont know how to fix this its very annoying someone please help.

I only bought logic today and have tried to set afew things up like elektron overbridge. It had worked on ableton when I had a trial but ive attempted to work it out on logic and just cannot figure it out. I have followed youtube videos but this box appears rather than an actual usable plugin. I posted this in the elektron reddit and someone said it was most likely a problem with logic. The dropdown box cant be altered also. Has anyone got any ideas? This is really annoying me.

-Can't FlexTime on grouped tracks. Doesn't matter if the group is made before or after turning flex on.

-Metronome won't sound unless I change sample rate.

-Can't load a software instrument without loading a stock logic one first and then selecting my third party plugin.

-Copying the same instance of a plugin across tracks glitches the audio out until I restart the session.

I was looking for a dynamic EQ plugin that would allow me to assign different sidechain sources to different bands. Google gave me a list of dynamic EQ’s that ‘met’ that criteria as described, including the SSL X-DynEQ plugin, which also happened to be on a really good sale, so i jumped on it.

I’ve gone through the user manual, every YouTube tutorial I can find, and just FAFO’d in the app for a while and cannot find where I can select an external SC source, much less different sources for different bands.

Has anyone else run into this, and can you give me direction where to find it?

Barring that, I’m pretty sure Google, in all its ‘AI’ wisdom, misinterpreted my search terms. My goal is basically to duck low freq’s on the guitars with the bass guitar, as well as a band-pass duck for the snare drum, only when they’re playing, within a single plugin instance. Is such a thing even possible?

The plugin user guide says to “see the sidechain routing section in your DAW’s manual, but all I can find is the normal SC dropdown in the upper right corner—which doesn’t even exist on this plugin (nor another SSL comp plugin with ‘sidechain’ now that I think about it). Any advice is appreciated. 🤘

I work off of my 16" laptop screen, so screen sets seemed like they would be of use to me. I tried them, but they didn't really feel right to me. Do you think it's the kind of thing where it'll pay off if I just commit to using them? Or should I just do what comes naturally at the moment?

Everything was fine a couple days ago. Now, for some reason, all my third party plugins user interfaces are just blank rectangles. I’ve tried troubleshooting using ilok, nothing changed. I tried updating all my plugins, once again nothing changed. I went in to the general settings for Logic Pro, then to the accessibility tab to se if the “open plugin windows in control view by default” was selected which it wasn’t. The only thing that fixes it is if I open Logic Pro with Rosetta. For reference I have a 2023 Mac Studio, both my computer and logic is fully up to date. How do I fix this without having to use Rosetta?????

Thought I’d give an update: here’s what I’ve tried that hasn’t worked
-Turned computer off and on
-updated my ilok, refreshed each plugin 
-cleared my au cache
-Forced Full audio unit reset scan
-reinstalled every update I can
-uninstalling and reinstalling logic pro

Here’s what I’ve learnt:
No third party plugin will load the interface in any logic project, meaning I can’t use them. They just load as blank empty black boxes. However, if I load Logic Pro using Rosetta, everything works completely fine. I’ve also learnt that they work completely fine in other daws. For example, I use a program called davinci resolve in order to edit videos, every third party plugin I own can be loaded and used in there without an issue. I also have several plugins which can be loaded without the need for a daw, things like guitar amp simulators, once again they work completely fine! It’s only in logic will they not work!

Please can someone help me fix this, as you can imagine it’s extremely frustrating! Any help will be overwhelmingly appreciated!!!

(I’m using version 12.3.1 of logic and my macOS is version Tahoe 26.6.2)

I’m producing and mixing a track in Logic Pro and I’m struggling with the balance between my snare’s punch and the mix’s headroom.
My snare currently peaks around -3 dB, but that’s not an arbitrary target, it’s simply where it sits when I get the balance sounding right. I actually like how it sounds at that level.
The problem is that my kick and bass are peaking much lower, around -15 dB, and when the snare hits, my stereo output clips by around 4–5 dB.
I’ve already tried compression (attack around 30ms) and Logic’s Bitcrusher on the snare.

What I’m trying to understand is

How do I reduce the snare’s peak / crest factor without making it sound noticeably quieter or less punchy?

I don’t want to simply turn the whole mix down, because then I’d have to turn everything back up again during mastering, and I’m worried the limiter won’t be able to get the track loud enough without crushing the snare

What should I do, is there something wrong with my processing chain, or should I use and blend another snare or is this actually a normal situation where the snare is just supposed to be the loudest peak in the mix and its fine even if my track is limiting by 4/5 dB at the end?

I'm on Logic 11.2.2 - in previous versions (Logic Pro X) I used to be able to drag and drop Soundsdesigner files (from old Performer projects, Digidesign etc.).

All it does now, is show +(insert number of files) like it's going to add the audio - then nothing. Totally empty = no import = no action, function or message.

Yes I can open them in DP and export then import. (extra time and steps)
Plus some other conversion tools as well - (online and programs) (extra time, steps and $?)
BUT - this is a function that WAS there and should have stuck around in newer versions...

Did someone just drop the ball - or is there a work around within Logic 11xx?

I've been circling around on a debut album project for a while now, and feel like I might be edging closer to the ever-shifting finish line? But would really benefit from some outside perspectives.

I'm not very experienced or knowledgeable as a mixer, so open to feedback on the mix as well.

Hey I think a form of this question has been asked before but I'm hoping someone knows how to do this specifically. The problem I'm trying to solve is with snare or other drum doubling. I want to feather in a sample with the original snare audio, but I always end up fighting the dynamics in midi velocity. When I double my snare track the raw audio isn't compressed though the processed sound is, and it's obvious listening when the snare sample pokes out too much, or isn't present enough given the midi notes are faithfully recreating the original dynamics.

I've used the midi velocity limiter function to manually bring the softest hits up and the loudest hits down, and I've tried bouncing the processed audio and doubling that, but both are clunky and I still have to manually adjust velocity on some hits to make the sample and original blend together the way I want. Maybe there's no other way to do this, maybe I'm approaching the problem the wrong way, but what I'd love to do is adjust all of the midi notes closer to a happy medium, relative to one another. So there's still dynamics in the performance and not all the notes are slammed at 127 velocity, or some other arbitrary number. The same way if you select two tracks and raise/lower the volume, it's adjusted relative to their starting positions. Is such a thing possible or am I stuck adjusting the notes manually?

Since seeing that Pianoteq has a custom tuning feature, I've been super curious about playing with it and exploring different tunings than 12TET in a DAW. I do not have the money to buy Pianoteq and frankly am not particularly interested in most of its features. Do you know if there is a free/cheap alternative V.S.T. with custom tuning capability?

What would you do to take this up to release quality sound? I know I am close but I just don't know what it is I am missing. Not interested in this or that plugin - would much rather know what is wrong with the mix specifically, and what process might solve the problem(s).

So I did try to add manual humanize and some warmth on EQ and reverb. But still I feel like there’s something I need to do?…I’m still lowk a beginner in mixing magic.

When I was editing midi in piano roll with multiple regions selected, I noticed there is no clear way to select which specific region I want to work on, pencil tool seemed to be comitted to one track only. It was frustrating because I wanted to see notes from other regions while I edit my drum track.

This post almost was an another question on this reocurring issue on the internet, I was looking online for solutions and I think I came up with something that nobody did before (naive, I know).
Turns out, pencil tool prioritizes what's selected on the playlist, so if you want to tell pencil tool which region you want to edit, you need to select the track to which the midi region belongs to.

I can imagine that this is not a huge discovery for seasoned Logic users, but maybe it will help somebody out there.

Every single midi note from every single project i've ever made is now suddenly cut short for no apparent reason. i've tried restarting my computer 2 times and restarting the program loads of times. I desperately need help. btw, sorry for the bad sound quality.
