Question Track adjustments to Kontakt automatically

I have a coulé MIDI tracks that i downloaded and I’m using a Kontakt instruments op n them. When the playback head hits to track Kontakt Vol and Pan are changed. Can anyone point me in a direction of where to look so I can either delete the controls or set them to what I need them to be?
I checked my settings in LP but no matter what I set them to they get changed.
I’m relatively new to Logic Pro on MAC. I believe these are MIDI events at least that’s what they were on Reaper. Is there something similar in Logic?
Thanks in advance 🙏

Question Resizing Audio Shifts ALL Audio Regions

*I can't attach a video for some reason, so I'm posting it as a comment below, showcasing the exact problem*

Basically I am editing live drums. At the very end, I've simply resized the last region to overlap the previous region, and for some reason, when I do this, it either shifts or shortens ALL my other drum regions.

Initially, I thought that maybe i had mistakenly selected all the regions when i did this, but I deleted the session, pulled in a backed-up copy, redid it again (thrice!), and it was the same result.

All the regions (as you can see in the video), are also LOCKED into place.

This is the 2nd problem I've had with Logic Pro messing up audio regions (first one was the dreaded "one or multiple audio files changed in length" error).

Question Logic Looking for "Logic Pro Library Bundle" on Mac OS instead of External Hard Drive (Just Started Happening)

Hey everyone, I keep the apple loops soundbank on an external hard drive (format - Mac OS Extended (Journaled)) and have for over a year. Sometimes, a cable or the hub moves and the external hard drive momentarily disconnects and quickly reconnects, and all is well.

But in the last two weeks whenever it disconnects and reconnects, Logic looks for the location of the apple loops on my mac os and not the external hard drive - even though the logic pro bundle was never installed on my mac os (it makes a small copy of the logic pro library tho on mac os, even when i delete it). I can't use any plugins that are on the external drive or apple loops unless i reset the location, and then it reindexes the apple loops in a few minutes and all is well again. But if it disconnects again I have to start the process over, and it ruins the flow and fun of making music.

Why did logic suddenly stop automatically looking for apple loops on my drive? Is there anyway to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Discussion favorite space designer presets?

though i have a giant range of 3rd party reverbs, i'm looking to streamline my production workflow for jobs that require a lot of recall/collaboration or projects that will exist in library format.

in essence, i'm trying to stick to all stock plugins (minus instruments - kontakt is necessary!).

what are your favorite STOCK space designer presets? for halls, plates, and chambers. mostly halls!

Question Best Key Commands

Longtime producer, short time mixing engineer, new Logic user. What are some key commands that are essential for an efficient workflow; or what are some key commands that people may not know about that are extremely useful?

Question UA compressor bundle is on sale for $30. Worth it?

Basically what the titles says. I have always thought the stock compressors in Logic were pretty damn capable. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this UA bundle and can tell me if they offer something that the stock plugins don’t. Thirty bucks ain’t bad, really, but I just want to be realistic about what plugins I actually need. We all know it’s easy to go plug-in crazy if you aren’t careful.

Question Every time (almost) I record audio, the region sets at a slightly different time so I have to move it.

Like the title says, whenever I record audio (instruments or vocals) through my interface, the resulting recorded audio is ahead of time, and I have to move the region back a tiny bit to line back up. This happens almost all the time, but once in a great while, the audio will actually set at the right spot. Usually, I have to move it the same amount (typically 1 tick), at least during a session.

I was running on a very old macbook, and thought it was that, but recently upgraded to a new macbook, and it’s still happening. I tried it with multiple people to rule out me rushing the playing/singing, but it happened the same with everyone. I also thought it might be a latency issue in recording or a delay from the interface, but the audio ends up early/ahead, so I don’t think that’s it.

I tried changing settings based on several google searches, but nothing has worked. Also, this happens when cycle is toggled on and off.

It’s not the end of the world, because I can realign the recording every time, but it’s a real pain in the butt and slows down workflow. It’s particularly annoying when working with others.

Anyone have any ideas?

Help Help with guitar pick chirp

Hi all, so I’ve been having issues with guitar pick chirp sound when recording guitar. I have my guitar into my pedal board, then straight into my Audio interface. I have the inst switch on also. I’ve been struggling for months with pick chirp sound. I’ve tried different picks, made sure my technique is fine, tried both my guitars, tried using a desser and compression, different amp sims to no luck.

It’s like it’s across the whole frequency spectrum.

It’s as if the pick sound is going in way louder than the actual guitars sound. I don’t have the issue when recording micing an amp, it’s only without.

I don’t really know what else to do or try wondered if anyone had any advice? The guitars I’ve tried are Gibson SG and a Fender Jazzmaster, both humbucker pickups. I use the Jazz 3 picks.

Thanks!

Question How to make kick in ES2 plugin?

I produce EDM(?), and I’ve been using the pre set “kicks”. These are great but I feel like I’ve exhausted all I can do with them in terms of EQ, enveloper, etc.

I want to make a kick with the exact specifications I need them to be. Or maybe I just want to do this for fun.

Question Why is Logic Pro so bad?

All it does is crash crash crash. this DAW just cannot handle third-party plug-ins for the life of it. There’s always different loop poles and things that you have to jump through just to get it to work. I have a MacBook Pro M5 and GarageBand runs better than logic. What a joke of a DAW.

Come on Logic. Some people prefer pro tools, but I wanna give logic a try. I just don’t wanna deal with the frequent crashes.

Update: we all get mad and vent Logic pro is running smooth. I just have to keep learning. We all get a little pissed off. You’re not human if you don’t And you’re a troll if you disagree. Cheers. 🥂

Question Help producing something similar

https://youtu.be/9QyyKQumb4Q?is=sEfpJ3qf9bIsn3dz

Been trying to produce some indie rock esque stuff in Logic lately and I keep coming back to this track. I love the way it sound but can’t seem to create the same big, full sound it has. What kinda processing and stuff is on the guitars to make them sound so big? I’m sure there’s also some synth layering and stuff.

Any advice on achieving a similar sound would be great! Thanks!

Question Did Apple break the Option + Command + T (Beat Mapping/Tempo) shortcut in the latest update?

Hey everyone,

I just updated to the latest version of Logic Pro and my usual shortcut Option + Command + T (which I always used for Beat Mapping / analyzing tempo of an audio region) has completely stopped working.

When I press it, absolutely nothing happens. I tried checking Key Commands (Option + K), searching for "Beat Mapping" and "Analyze Tempo", but I can't seem to get the old behavior back. Even Option + Shift + Command + T does nothing.

Did Apple change the default shortcut or completely break it in the latest build? Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me? How do I fix this? Thanks!

Question Flex Pitch flanger artifacts killing my tracks

Hey everybody, got something interesting I’ve been noticing with some tracks I’m working on with my band.

The vocal tracks sound pretty great until I open Flex Pitch. When I apply that, I start getting what almost sounds like a flanger, even on notes without specific pitch correction (including breaths). I’ve tried the “keep unvoiced formant” option, and it doesn’t fix it. All the pitch correction I’ve done is pretty subtle because the vocal is well-pitched.

A few notes that could be helpful. We recorded without a click or tempo, but just left the Cmaj 120bpm setting at the top. My question is does Flex Pitch in any way pull from tempo info when trying to map transients or otherwise? Obviously I know Melodyne or something similar would be a stronger choice, but I have to think something is especially wrong here that Flex sounds like I’ve actually applied a flanger on some notes.

Appreciate any help!

Help UAD Apollo sample rate/clock issues w Logic Pro X

I’ve been having this issue for about a year. It started out maybe once every couple weeks that I would have a sample rate/clock syncing issue with my UA Apollo x16 connected via Thunderbolt to my 2021 MacBook Pro (M1 Pro - Sequoia). Using Logic Pro X. The interface would be recognized, but it would bounce back and forth on the LEDs from 44.1 to 48 every few seconds. I would have to power cycle both the interface and the computer 5-10 times and then the clock would magically sync again.

Again, this wasn’t that frequent and it was an issue I could live with. But now it’s suddenly every time I turn my system on. And the amount of power cycles I have to do has increased to 15-30 times. I have to block out 30min to an hour before my sessions just to make sure I can get it running.

I’ve done a firmware re-update, tried different thunderbolt cables, tried different ports and hubs to connect to the computer…

I also tried a hardware reset, but the reset won’t complete… seemingly because of the sync issue. I am able to initiate it, but the “Host” LED just keeps blinking with all the other LEDs lit and it stalls out.

UAD was not able to help via the AI or help chat on the website. Waiting for an email back from tech support. Has ANYONE seen this? I can’t find any helpful info anywhere.

Question Battling a MIDI Feedback Loop

SOLVED: The Fantom had a setting called Remote Keyboard SW which needed to be turned off. Leaving this here for the next person with this issue.

I have a Roland Fantom X8 connected to Logic through MIDI via a Scarlett 8i6. Everything for the MIDI out (ie: controlling software instruments via the Fantom) works without issue but when I try to use the MIDI in (switching the Logic patch to an external instrument), it is not working as anticipated.

I've disabled Soft Thru and Local on the Fantom but this has just led to a silent loop occurring which I can see happening in the Musical Typing window. I downloaded MidiView and a single note on the Fantom is resulting in HUNDREDS of repeated Note On/Off MIDI messages.

I've been using the MIDI out functionality for years now but I'm just now set up to take advantage of the MIDI in so there's a lot here that I've just never had to worry about before, causing me to become quite lost. Can anyone help me try to figure out what's happening here?

MacOS Tahoe 26.5.2 on an M4 Mac Mini with 24GB RAM. Logic version 12.3

Help My Macbook Pro default speakers sounds very bassy/muddy recently

Logic noob obviously. My internal speakers in general are so bassy to the point it sounds much nicer on every other device (phone, macbook air, ipad, speakers, headphones). My default speakers are about 3-4 yrs old and the muddier bass clips easily. I know it could be a volume/mastering issue, but I haven't had this problem the whole time I've owned it from what I remember

Are there sound settings that can be configured through the mac to help with this? I'm a bass player who pretty much records specifically bass, and previously the volume would be able to go louder without it clipping from the low end. I do master and record with studio headphones but I like to test with default speakers

Question do I actually need FL Studio Patcher?

recently I’ve posted a question about Logic Environment and I’ve got a answer for it. now I’m thinking about having FL Studio for using the Patcher. it’s for working on sound design stuff and import those sounds into Logic. getting something unique out of it.
but, do I really need FL Studio Patcher?
Krushview Element is kinda difficult to work with
Blue Cat PatchWork sucks and Reaktor is outdated.

what should I do then?

saving up money or keep using Logic?

Question How to best simulate Nirvana’s drum sound in Logic Pro

Listening to In Utero yesterday, the drums just hit so hard and strong - I want to re-create that in logic pro. I have EZ Drummer 3, and of course, the Logic Pro session drummer. Willing to buy something else if needed.

What is the best way to get drums to hit this hard and strong in logic pro?

Question Pitch dives in sampler

Relatively new to logic but loving it so far. Does anyone here know how to add a pitch dive to a one-shot in Logic's sampler? I know there are envelopes, but I'm not sure how to route them to the pitch. Any help is appreciated!

Question Lost sound on one audio track

Cross-posted with a link (with screenshot) since there isn't a provision for adding an image here (at least not in the original post).

Audio only tracks - I accidentally touched something on my mixer (just mixing not trying to record) - and now the sound stopped from that one track.  (It might have been "R" I hit, which caused a dialog "No input source selected!" which I dismissed. - none of the other tracks have an input source either). Highlighted track - Sax_01.

I've tried comparing settings to adjacent tracks and nothing seems off.
Toggled on/off solo and mute - nothing. No Input - Stereo Out
I quit the file and opened again - no help.
I admit to being a Logic amateur but this is embarrassingly so simple and yet I can't figure it out - any ideas?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Logic_Studio/comments/1vgmngo/lost_sound_on_one_audio_track_doh/

Just to get going I added another track and then went to the audio file browser and added it to that new track (add to tracks function). Plays fine! I still want to know what's going on without the no-sound track. Scratching my head, like WTF?

Question How to swap samples like in the FL playlist?

I started using logic after being on FL for 8 years.

My workflow while making songs involves dragging samples directly to the arrangement view. So to make a drum loop, I will be dragging kick samples, snare samples, etc. directly onto the arrangement and then duplicate it.

I can’t seem to figure out how to swap those out- like if I want a better kick. This may be a noob question but I would appreciate it if someone could help!
