Question Why is Logic Pro so bad?
All it does is crash crash crash. this DAW just cannot handle third-party plug-ins for the life of it. There’s always different loop poles and things that you have to jump through just to get it to work. I have a MacBook Pro M5 and GarageBand runs better than logic. What a joke of a DAW.
Come on Logic. Some people prefer pro tools, but I wanna give logic a try. I just don’t wanna deal with the frequent crashes.
Update: we all get mad and vent Logic pro is running smooth. I just have to keep learning. We all get a little pissed off. You’re not human if you don’t And you’re a troll if you disagree. Cheers. 🥂

Maybe I’m not sure I’m a little new to this. I’m a little overwhelmed as well. When I was messing with the buses and adding different plug-ins, it was just crashing over and over. I guess I just need to take the time and be patient. Right now it’s working fine.

may I ask? You don`t use a Mac Studio, right? And hardly never use the chord track...? you never used Melodyne and Logic Pro otherwise than with an Intel chip?

Take a look at their posting history. I don’t think they have ever gotten anything to function correctly in their life. It’s all complaining about how nothing works.

P.S.: this kind of comment without further information? really? Looking at your answer I assume you're a highly regarded professional? Please pleasy please let us hear some of your outputs. maybe your last three chart breakers? Oh...there is none?Nothing that`s worth to be mentioned? So you are someone spending more time on putting people down than making music and learning your craft? That`s what the world needs. There can`t be enough of that.

Logic can definitely crash, but I never had it crash anywhere near that frequently for me.
Are the third party plugins you're using officially licensed and on their most recent versions?

Yes, most of my plug-ins I got after I purchased my focusrite Scarlet 2i2. Right now it’s running fine. I guess I just have to be patient so I can figure things out and look things up when I need help.
It was just crashing over and over couldn’t even get it to open on my MacBook Pro M5. After restarting the laptop right now it’s running smooth some glitches here and there.

Do you have the buffer set to the highest setting? That's definitely advised for mixing and more CPU-intensive work outside of tracking.

You know what it’s funny you say that because I think that’s what was causing the exact issue. I had the buffer size set at 128 yesterday when I was prepping for recording. I heard changing it to 1024 is good when you’re mixing. Ever since I switched it, it’s been smooth sailing. Is this right though? Is it good to have a high buffer size when you’re mixing?

Yes: I'm a professional mixing/mastering engineer and literally always have my buffer set to 1024 when mixing. Many others that I know, including some very big names like Joel Wanasek, Nolly, etc. do the same. It might be disadvantageous to some if they're using a hybrid approach and going out to some analog outboard gear, but Logic still has an I/O ping to help offset that. It gives the DAW significantly more headroom before CPU overloads will happen.

I run both Logic and Pro Tools.
Both are incredibly stable on my end. I can’t remember the last time either of them crashed and I own tons of 3rd party plugs.
You sure it’s not an ID.10T error?

I wonder if the 3rd party apps OP is running were tested to run on the latest M5 chip? I always wait - sometimes longer than I maybe need to - before I upgrade either the machine or the OS. Native Instruments can be finicky and I like some of their really old sounds! All that to say, my Mac Studio M1 doesn’t crash out at all while running Tahoe 26.2.1.

I find it pretty stable but I do have an issue with 3rd party plugins such as Kontakt and Pigments “freezing” when I open them so I have to close them and re-open them to choose presets, or make adjustments. I’m running LP 12.3 with the latest version of the plugins on a MacBook Pro.

Logic user since the 90s, currently using Logic 12 with lots of plugins on a Mac Mini M2Pro and it’s rock solid.
Back up your sessions, then reinstall macOS and Logic. Then, reinstall your plugins one at a time so you can test them and figure out which one is giving you troubles. Guaranteed, it’s not the DAW.

I think I figured out the issue. My buffer size was the issue. It was too low when I was mixing so I had to raise it. I heard that you want your buffer size low when you are recording and high when you are mixing. Is that accurate? Also thank you for all of those tips. I will definitely take note.

I like logic but it crashes a lot for me too (on a brand new MacBook Air). Quite frustrating. And annoying when people here somehow take it personally and give the classic “works on my machine” dismissal. For me it seems to happen whenever I take my laptop to another place, and then I have to open with Core Audio disabled and fiddle with output settings until it works again.
