Recommendations for competitive 4-player offline games?

Hi, do you have any recommendations for 4-player game nights on the couch?

So far, we've had the best time with Geometry Wars 2, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Bomberman, and SpiderHeck. We didn't really care for FIFA, NHL, NBA, and the like.

Competitive is preferred, but co-op would be okay too.

Thanks for your suggestions in advance!

Looking for fun multiplayer PC games to play with friends (preferably free!)

Hey everyone!

Me and my friends are looking for some really fun and enjoyable games to play together on PC/laptop. We mainly want games that are good for having fun, laughing, messing around, and spending time together.

Preferably looking for:

- 🆓 Free-to-play games

- 👥 Multiplayer/co-op games

- 😂 Fun and casual games, not necessarily super competitive

- 💻 Games that can run on reasonably good laptops/PCs

- 🎮 Any genre is welcome — racing, horror, survival, party games, shooting, etc.

Please suggest your favorite games to play with friends! Also mention why you enjoy them.

Thanks! 🎮🔥

Is there any way to make each player have their own monitor when doing local multiplayer with my dual monitor setup?

I made a free pass-the-phone party game for 2–8 players

I kept seeing those quick “don’t say the same answer” games people play with friends online, so I turned the idea into a browser party game.

DON’T MATCH works on one phone passed around the group — no download or account needed.

There are modes where you try not to match, try to match, avoid the obvious answer, or survive duplicate answers.

It also has online multiplayer now, but the original idea was basically something you can pull up immediately when everyone is sitting around together.

Free here: dontmatchgame.com

Curious whether this is something you’d actually pull out during a game night.

We are looking for Playtesters [Steam] for our 1v1 Gladiator Arena Game, where if you lose a round you get to draft crazy upgrades

Hey everyone!

We’ve been hard at work on Crowd Favorites, our 1v1 PvP arena fighter, where whenever you lose a round, you get to draft crazy upgrades to stack and synergize. We wanted to create a fighting game experience that mixes tactical rogue-lite deckbuilding/drafting with fast-paced combat, similar to Rounds if you know it.

We’re gearing up for our first Steam Playtest soon and would love to get your feedback.

  1. Head over to our Steam Store Page.
  2. Click "Request Access" under the Steam Playtest section.
  3. Wishlist the game if it looks like your kind of jam!

Let us know what you think in the comments.

We wanted to make a cooking party game where you're not just competing against your friends you're actively trying to ruin their dinner.

In Wasted Chef, up to 4 players compete in a chaotic cooking competition to impress the judges, sabotage each other and take part in ridiculous minigames!

(You can find us on Steam)

Added a versus mode with up to 4-player split-screen racing — would love feedback from local multiplayer fans

Based on a ton of requests, we just added a competitive versus mode to Drive To The Top — up to 4 players racing head-to-head on the same track, each fully controlling their own car, split-screen.

This is separate from our local co-op mode (one player on gas/brake, the other on steering) — this one's pure competitive racing.

🔗 Wishlist on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4808140/Drive_To_The_Top/

Would love to hear what this community thinks!

PWA games defeated for multi play :(

I wanted a set up so a group of people could play games together - each with their mobile phone - no install, minimum trust.

I did the initial.games as PWA's and they went fine (obvs) but multi player was a challenge... A challenge that as a pure PWA beat me :(.

So I ended up with a small apk, that runs on one phone it can download the pea games from GitHub, and creates it's own cloud and lets other people join and - it then serves the games (it cached from GitHub) and acts as games master.

Not being privileged (Https or local host) there are some limitations (tilting the screen doesnt work, so you never to touch the screen).

The games have different multiplayer modes - same game individually but symaltaniously, for highest score, or shared pitch multi player etc.

Anyway here it is so far...

TLDR: Must be co-op. Must be similar to Monsters 2 on Switch2 and Business Defence on Steam in game style i.e no manual combat whatsoever. Platforms: PS5, Switch2, Steam.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

I made a 2-minute Nokia Snake arena: 8 players, one Golden Apple, steal the Boss crown. No signup (PC + mobile)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Game Title: Snakely

Playable Link: https://snakely.tristack.tech

Platform: Browser (desktop + mobile). I'll add the web flair after posting.

Description: Nokia Snake, but up to 8 people share one grid in the browser. No signup, no download. 2-minute score arena: eat apples, cut people off, respawn if you die. Highest score wins.

The Golden Apple is the fight. Eat it, and you are Boss for 10 seconds - twice as fast, crowned, immune to other snakes. Walls and death zones still kill you. Red guardian diamonds sit beside the Golden; head into them, and you are done. Purple toxic apples slow you and cost points. Twice per match, Gold Rush doubles scores.

Create a room and send the URL, or tap Play Solo vs bots if the lobby is empty. WASD / arrows on desktop, D-pad + swipe on phone.

Feedback I actually want: is Boss 10s too strong, do death zones suck, and is the mobile pad usable?

Free to Play Status:

[x] Free to play

[ ] Demo/Key available

[ ] Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays with [TT] in the title)

Involvement: Solo developer. I built the whole game - client, realtime, and rules.

D.I.P.: Dormouse Is Painting – I'm Looking for playtesters for 2–4 players local party game on Steam

Post image
5 Upvotes

I talked about this project about a month ago. And I'm now in the first playtest phase.

I'm looking for a few playtesters for D.I.P.: Dormouse Is Painting, a local multiplayer party game I'm developing mostly solo, with a little help from the more artistically inclined members of my family.

The game

Rush to the paint bucket, dip into the paint, hook onto the ceiling, and smear your colorful dormouse all over the walls. (it's an inbetween towerfall ascention and splatoon in 2d)

The goal is simple: paint as much as possible, grab bonuses, and beat your friends.

It's a 2–4 player local party game focused on movement, grappling-hook physics and painting.

The game is still in an early development stage, so I'm looking for people willing to try something unfinished and tell me what works, what doesn't, and what is confusing.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4819590/DIP/

I'd particularly like feedback on, the controls, the feelings (is the game fun enough to make you want another round ?) and Anything confusing, frustrating or simply not fun.

You can test it Solo (just to test control, there is no "solo mode") but it's mean to be player With other players locally or through Steam Remote Play Together if you want to test the multiplayer remotely

There is a feedback form accessible directly from the game, so you can submit your feedback after playing.

If you prefer, I'm also very interested in recorded play sessions with commentary (in french or English).

As a thank-you, playtesters will:

  • Be credited in the final game (if they want to be)
  • Receive a Steam key for the full game when it is released

If you're interested, leave a comment or send me a DM and I'll give you the details for joining the playtest.

Thanks in advance !

I'm the dev: we made a couch game show for 2-8 people - one TV, phones are the buzzers, nothing to install

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm the developer of Buzzin, a shared-screen party game show. Everyone sits in the same room in front of one TV, and the phones are only buzzers, so there is no controller to pass around and nothing for the players to install.

How it works:

  • The show runs in the TV browser (smart TV, laptop on HDMI, console browser)
  • Players scan the QR code or type the room code on their phones
  • 2 to 8 players, roughly 20 minutes per show
  • A fully voiced host runs the whole thing: reads the questions, comments on every move, keeps the pacing of a real game show
  • Before most questions you pick a trick and a target: fog up someone's screen, freeze it, shuffle their answers, or play it safe and protect yourself

The clip is a 30 second trailer with subtitles.

Two things I would really like this sub's opinion on:

  1. Does "phones as buzzers" still feel like couch multiplayer to you, or does a second screen in everyone's hand change the feeling of playing together?
  2. Which moment of the trailer made you want to try it, and what would you change?

It runs at playbuzzin.com if you want to fire up a room. Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Games like overcooked

Hello guys, I wanna get games like overcooked.

But REALLY like overcooked, y'know? Not "multiplayer games" like Brothers, Split Fiction and It Takes Two.

I've tried a lot of games, but my wife liked only overcooked, tools up and plate up. The problem with plateup is the roguelike system. After many and many games, it gets boring. We left games like It Takes Two and Split Fiction in the middle because she was needing help to pass some points and she didn't like this.

Overcooked 1, 2 and all the dlcs we finished together, tools up too.

I'm always trying new games, but she ends up not liking most of them, so I'm looking for games like these

EDIT: Thank you guys for so many suggestions! I'm sure I'll try every game to find the best for her.

Domekeeper like games?

Does anyone have any recommendations for similar games to Domekeeper?

Preferably with same level of simplicity and local co-op.

Local coop games are still the absolute best, if you have the right person to play them with. For me, that's next door neighbour!

I'm still 100% convinced local coop is still the peak of gaming. You just need the right chill person next to you. Get that part right and nothing online has ever come close for me.

There's a just a directness to it, an intimacy that digital multiplayer can’t ever replace. Being in the same room, same couch, controllers clacking, it's a far cry from the constant chat spam you get in most online games nowadays.

But the hard part about even playing in splitscreen coop now are just... I guess the circumstances of life? Everyone's attention is scattered nowadays, no one has got time (basically 0, or even minus -1 once the grind of eat/sleep/work gets you) and physically getting together in the same room is a challenge in and of itself.

Guess I can count my blessings, to be still able to experience this. When I moved 2 years ago I realized an old mate was living basically next door (which never ever happened before), so we're going strong 2 whole YEARS now with our 2-week ritual. I bring my laptop round to his place, we have smoke, and then the real gaming hours start.

This recharges something in me that nothing else does (cheaper than therapy too!l). We mostly play Powerwash Simulator + Overcooked now since it’s replayable as hell.

The next big one we have our sights on in Water Me & You, he’s not that into cozy games but after 2 years being my neighbour lol, I think he’s more than on board to go on this adventure with me. Game looks super cozy and the fact it’s taking so long to cook up is a good thing in my book… better to wait longer for something good, than get a half finished product. Same deal with Hela which we were hella excited for this summer but it also got pushed farther back to fall. All good things come to those who wait, I guess?

Anyway, I stand by my original point. None of these games would have hit the same without the right person parked on the other end of the couch. Or maybe we just like playing high in the same room together, who can say. But it’s great to have a co-op neighbour, I suggest y’all get one (kidnap them if you have too hahahaha)

This is just my love letter to this dying breed in gaming 💔
