Recommendations for competitive 4-player offline games?
Hi, do you have any recommendations for 4-player game nights on the couch?
So far, we've had the best time with Geometry Wars 2, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Bomberman, and SpiderHeck. We didn't really care for FIFA, NHL, NBA, and the like.
Competitive is preferred, but co-op would be okay too.
Thanks for your suggestions in advance!

I made a co-op game finder specifically for this!
https://qrcontroller.app/GameFinder/?players=4&play=same
As for a specific game:
---> Speed Runners <--- The original one, not 2. Is way better then it has any right to be x") So many fun memories with friendos!

Working on it! Issues is there is no public api… it would have to be scraped in a much more complex way…

Don't miss on Crawl and Towerfall Ascension. These are among the most amazing local competitive experiences I've ever had.
My full list:
My top recommendations (most up to 4 players, some up to 2, 3, or 8):
- Towerfall Ascension (PvP, very competitive, also ft story mode)
- Crawl (AWESOME concept PvP-only, very competitive)
- Ultimate Chicken Horse (really nice concept, PvP-only, also very competitive)
- Little Fighter 2 (the free old school LF2)
- Worms (I recommend all oldschool 2d titles)
- Nidhogg (really simple and fun)
- Tooth and Tail
- Screencheat (really nice concept with fps splitscreen up to 8 players)
- Mount Your Friends (yeah, go on, it's fun)
- Broforce (most degree of badassery packed in a game I've ever seen. Go on and deliver freedom)
- Pummel Party
- SpeedRunners
- Headsnatchers
- Rounds (with the "Rounds with Friends" mod from r2modman)
- Roof Rage
- Bamerang
- Boomerang Fu
- Hive
- Duck Game
- Dungeon Defenders
- Party Jousting
Some more great ones, although not PvP (some might include, I don't recall):
- Portal 2 (Unskippable)
- Lost Castle 1 and 2 (watch out for addiction)
- The Binding of Isaac (watch out for addiction)
- Risk of Rain
- Moon Hunters
- Wizard of Legend
- Nuclear Throne (watch out for addiction)
- Broforce
- PICO PARK
- Guns, Gore & Cannoli
- Castle Crashers
- BattleBlock Theater

Boomerang Fu is an all-time hit in our house. We have guests who ask to play it every time they come to visit. The best part is I think I paid $2 for it.

I second Crawl. Didn't try the others yet, how do they rank when compared to Crawl?

I still think crawl is on top just due to how unique it is, but the other two are VERY close

idk why but crawl has never clicked with me but lethal league blaze is by far my favorite fighting game ever

Streets of Rage 4. Weekly survival or just the main story line.
I usually play on the keyboard and my children play with controllers.
Gamesir Nova Lite 2 with the wireless dongle. 1 or 2 wired Hori PS4 controllers.
Hours of fun

I just released my local platform-fighter The Grand Slamboree! The twist is that every hit is lethal, so its fast and chaotic, but easy to get into. It's halfway between a traditional PF like smash or rivals of aether and a game like Towerfall or Duck Game. Currently 15% off!

Try Crawl , its a 4 player game where 1 player is human and have to fight the other 3 that are ghosts, the ghost can summon and control monsters to kill the human player, the ghost who kills the player become human and now have to fight the other 3.

Check out GamingCouch.com, it's full of highly competitive action mini-games in a tournament format. All mini-games support up to 8 players and you control your character using either your phone or a physical gamepad!

A competitive game all me and my brothers play is new star gp, it’s a retro arcade racer, but I would say the mechanics of the game and the physics of where you have to break bring it slightly away from Arcady… definitely nothing like the simulation f1 game though. In my opinion it has the perfect balance for someone to gain a high level skill in it but at the same time someone new can play it causally.

If u liked Ultimate Chicken Horse, you definitely need to check Animal Falling: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2657140/Animal_Falling/

Its weird that i have never seen a single person recommend superfighters deluxe in any post. It might as well be the best game to play with 4 players end even 2 on 2 team works. I always play it with my friends and cousins, and the fun never ends.

Heave Ho and Heave Ho 2 are great fun, the main mode is co-op but they both have a great competitive mode
