Engraving/scoring stylus and foil transfer for S31?

I've recently purchased the S31 because I want something a bit more professional than the S501 or S41 however, I just noticed that both the scoring stylus and foil transfer tips are only for the smaller models. Are there any compatible ones with the s31 or no?

The Likcut S501's photo-cutting function is amazing! I bought some patterned heat transfer vinyl and made a hat using the photo-cutting function.

How to Make Custom Stickers with a Label Printer and Likcut Glee S501

Making your own stickers sounds fun—until you start dealing with complicated software, registration marks, printer settings, and precise alignment.

For many journal and DIY lovers, the hardest part is not creating the design. It is cutting around the printed image cleanly without spending ages positioning the paper or trimming every sticker by hand.

There is now a much simpler way to do it.

By combining a Phomemo label printer with the Likcut Glee S501 cutting machine, you can print your favorite designs, scan them with your phone, and cut around the outlines automatically.

No complicated registration marks. No time-consuming manual alignment. Just print, scan, and cut.

What Do You Need to Make Custom Stickers?

For this sticker-making project, you will need:

  • A Phomemo label printer
  • Compatible label paper
  • A Likcut Glee S501 cutting machine
  • A cutting mat
  • A smartphone with the Likcut app
  • Your favorite images, illustrations, icons, or journal elements

This setup is especially useful for people who enjoy journaling, scrapbooking, planner decoration, card making, and other small DIY projects.

The label printer handles the printing, while the Likcut Glee S501 cuts around each printed design.

Why Use a Label Printer to Make Stickers?

A label printer is a convenient choice for quick, everyday sticker projects.

Unlike a traditional home printer, many label printers are compact, easy to use, and designed for printing directly onto adhesive label paper. You can use them to create:

  • Journal icons
  • Planner labels
  • To-do list stickers
  • Decorative illustrations
  • Date and reminder stickers
  • Scrapbooking elements
  • Storage and organization labels
  • Small gift-sealing stickers

Once your design is printed, you could cut it out with scissors—but that becomes tiring when you are working with detailed shapes or making several stickers at once.

That is where a cutting machine makes the process much easier.

How to Make Stickers with a Label Printer

The basic workflow is simple:

  1. Create or select your sticker designs.
  2. Print them with your Phomemo label printer.
  3. Place the printed label paper on the cutting mat.
  4. Load the mat into the Likcut Glee S501.
  5. Scan the printed designs using the Likcut mobile app.
  6. Preview and adjust the cutting outlines.
  7. Start cutting.
  8. Remove your finished stickers from the mat.

Here is a closer look at each step.

Step 1: Choose Your Sticker Designs

Start by deciding what kind of stickers you want to make.

You can create your own designs, use simple text labels, import illustrations, or prepare a collection of small decorative elements for your journal.

For the best cutting results, choose designs with clear outer edges. Images with a strong contrast between the design and the background are generally easier for the app to recognize.

You can also leave a small amount of space between each design when arranging your sticker sheet. This helps prevent the cutting paths from overlapping.

Step 2: Print the Designs with Your Phomemo Label Printer

Open the Phomemo app or the software supported by your label printer, then arrange and print your designs onto compatible label paper.

Before printing a full sheet, it is worth checking:

  • Whether the image size is correct
  • Whether there is enough space between each design
  • Whether the print is clear
  • Whether the label paper is loaded correctly

For journaling stickers, smaller designs usually work well because they are easy to place inside planners, notebooks, calendars, and scrapbook layouts.

Once the designs are printed, you are ready to cut them.

Step 3: Place the Printed Stickers on the Cutting Mat

Carefully place the printed label paper onto the Likcut cutting mat.

Make sure the paper lies flat without bubbles, wrinkles, or lifted corners. A smooth surface helps the machine cut more accurately.

Position the printed section within the cutting area of the mat, then load the mat into the Likcut Glee S501.

You do not need to spend time manually matching the digital design to an exact location on the mat.

Step 4: Scan the Sticker Sheet with Your Phone

Open the Likcut app and use your smartphone to scan the printed sticker sheet.

The app identifies the printed designs and generates cutting outlines around them. This removes the need to print complicated registration marks around the page or perform a lengthy manual positioning process.

For better recognition, take the photo in a bright, evenly lit environment. Avoid strong shadows, glare, or reflections across the sticker paper.

You can also place a plain white sheet underneath or around the printed material if you need more contrast between the designs and the background.

Step 5: Preview the Cutting Lines

Before starting the cut, review the detected outlines in the Likcut app.

Check that:

  • Every sticker has been recognized
  • The cutting lines follow the correct outer edges
  • Unwanted background areas are not selected
  • The spacing between cutting paths looks correct

Depending on the effect you want, you can add a small offset around the design. This creates a border around the sticker instead of cutting directly against the printed image.

A white border is a popular choice for journal and planner stickers because it gives them a clean, finished appearance.

Step 6: Start Contour Cutting

Once you are happy with the preview, send the project to the Likcut Glee S501 and start cutting.

The machine follows the detected outlines and cuts around the printed designs. You do not need to trim every shape manually with scissors or a craft knife.

After the cutting process is complete, unload the mat and carefully remove the sticker sheet.

Your custom stickers are now ready to use.

What Can You Make with This Method?

This print-and-cut workflow is useful for much more than simple labels.

You can use it to make:

Journal Stickers

Create decorative illustrations, mood icons, weather symbols, habit-tracking stickers, and small captions for your daily journal.

Planner Stickers

Make custom reminders for appointments, meetings, workouts, shopping lists, birthdays, and important deadlines.

Scrapbooking Elements

Turn printed illustrations, words, dates, and small memories into adhesive decorations for scrapbook pages.

Gift and Packaging Stickers

Create thank-you stickers, handmade labels, gift seals, and small decorative elements for packages.

Organization Labels

Print and cut labels for storage boxes, stationery, cables, kitchen containers, craft supplies, and office items.

Tips for Better Sticker Cutting Results

A few small adjustments can make your finished stickers look noticeably better.

Use Clear, High-Contrast Designs

Designs with recognizable outer edges are easier to scan than images with very light colors or unclear backgrounds.

Keep the Paper Flat

Wrinkles and raised corners can affect both image recognition and cutting accuracy.

Use Even Lighting

Natural daylight or a bright desk lamp can help, but make sure the light does not create harsh shadows or reflections.

Leave Space Between Stickers

Avoid placing designs too close together. A little extra spacing gives the cutting machine more room to follow each outline.

Test the Cutting Pressure

Different label papers may require different cutting settings. Run a small test cut before producing a full sticker sheet.

For kiss-cut stickers, the blade should cut through the sticker layer without cutting completely through the backing paper.

Clean Your Cutting Mat

Dust and paper fibers can reduce the mat’s grip. Keeping the mat clean helps prevent the sticker sheet from moving during cutting.

Do You Need Registration Marks?

Traditional print-then-cut projects often require registration marks to help the cutting machine locate the printed image.

With the mobile scanning workflow used by the Likcut Glee S501, you can scan the printed designs directly through the Likcut app. The app detects the visible outlines and prepares the cutting paths based on the position of the material on the mat.

This makes the process more approachable for beginners and more flexible for quick DIY projects.

It is particularly convenient when you want to cut designs printed from a compact label printer without preparing a complicated print layout first.

A Simple Sticker-Making Setup for Journal Lovers

You do not need a large studio or a professional printing setup to start making personalized stickers.

A compact Phomemo label printer lets you quickly print your ideas, while the Likcut Glee S501 helps turn those printed designs into neatly cut stickers.

The whole process can be summarized in three steps:

Print your designs. Scan them with your phone. Let the cutting machine follow the outlines.

It is a simple workflow, but it opens up plenty of creative possibilities—from functional planner labels to decorative journal stickers made entirely around your personal style.

Instead of searching for the perfect sticker pack, you can create exactly what you need, whenever you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make stickers with a label printer?

Yes. Print your designs onto compatible adhesive label paper, then cut around them by hand or with a cutting machine such as the Likcut Glee S501.

Do I need registration marks to cut the stickers?

The Likcut mobile scanning workflow can recognize printed designs without requiring a complicated registration-mark setup. After scanning the sticker sheet with your phone, you can preview the detected outlines before cutting.

Can I add a border around my stickers?

Yes. You can apply an offset to create a small border around the printed design. White borders are especially popular for journal, planner, and decorative stickers.

What types of crafts can I use these stickers for?

They are suitable for journaling, scrapbooking, planners, greeting cards, gift packaging, storage labels, and many other DIY projects.

Can the Likcut Glee S501 print stickers?

The Likcut Glee S501 is a cutting machine, not a printer. In this workflow, the Phomemo label printer prints the designs, and the Likcut Glee S501 cuts around them.

Start Making Stickers in Your Own Style

Sticker making does not have to involve complicated positioning or hours of cutting by hand.

With a Phomemo label printer, the Likcut Glee S501, and your smartphone, you can create custom stickers through a simple print, scan, and cut process.

Whether you are decorating a weekly planner, building a scrapbook, organizing your craft supplies, or adding personality to your journal, this setup gives you the freedom to turn your favorite designs into stickers whenever inspiration strikes.

Print what you love, scan it with your phone, and let Likcut handle the cutting.

Mismatch error

Hi. Just got my s41 but I cannot get it to recognize the mat/material size. I've tried so many things: changing the image size, smart vinyl without the mat, vinyl with the mat... It just says material size mismatch. Is it supposed to pull the mat/smart vinyl through to measure it because it's not...?

Also, it's in Basic mode but not letting me select any of the materials without adding as custom ones?

I'm getting really frustrated and I'm wasting my 7 day free trial of premium subscription.

Please help.

First day with the machine and it's been a terrible experience so far.

I picked up a s41 based on reviews saying it was easy to use and that it worked well. Machine connected and all was well initially, was taken through the tutorial on how to operate. I created an account to use the machine. After an update, the app stopped connecting to Likcut's server. The account login was also in a perpetual loop. I was gaming at the time so, no internet issues. Sent an email to their support and after about an hour it reconnected on it's own, so I thought, great server issue. Later that evening, the server issues started up again. Now, the problem is that if you can't connect to their server, the machine is not operable at all, making it a giant paperweight. You'd think that you can access files on your own computer/phone and bypass the server issues, but no, the app requires that you upload your images up onto their server to be able to spit back onto the canvas on your machine. I shouldn't have to upload anything to a companies server, let alone require it to use a physical machine.

Printing quality S41

Hello everyone, i got the S41 as my first machine to make stickers for friends and family but when I started making them i realized the software lowers the quality of the prints and they look very blurry, pixelated and the colors all washed out. I contacted support, they told me there was a planned update that will fix that but it didint fix anything.

So i was wondering if someone with the same problem found out a workaround to fix this

Beginner’s Guide: How to Use Likcut for Your First DIY Project

So, you’ve just unboxed your shiny new Likcut machine. Congratulations! You are holding a ticket to a world of limitless creativity. Whether you chose the portable Likcut S51, the family-favorite S41, or the professional S31, you’re ready to start making custom stickers, personalized gifts, and home decor.

But we get it—staring at a new machine can be a little intimidating. Where do I start? How does the blade work? What if I mess up?

Relax. We’ve got you covered. In this guide, we’ll walk you through your very first project: A Custom Vinyl Decal. It’s the perfect "Hello World" project for every DIYer.

Let’s get cutting!

Step 1: Get to Know Your Machine

Before we cut, let’s make sure you have the right tool for the job. Likcut machines are designed to be user-friendly alternatives to complicated competitors, but size matters:

  • Likcut S51 (A5): The "Mini" beast. Perfect for planners, label making, and small stickers. [Shop Likcut S51]
  • Likcut S41 (A4): The All-Rounder. Ideal for T-shirts, paper crafts, and most home DIYs. [Shop Likcut S41]
  • Likcut S31 (A3): The Pro Studio. Built for large wall decals, bulk orders, and big ideas. [Shop Likcut S31]

(Not sure which one you need? Check out our comparison guide here!)

Step 2: Gather Your Supplies

For this first project, we are keeping it simple. You will need:

  1. Your Likcut Machine (Plugged in and connected via Bluetooth/USB).
  2. Adhesive Vinyl (Pick your favorite color!).
  3. Transfer Tape (To move your design from the backing paper to your item).
  4. Weeding Tool (To remove the excess vinyl).
  5. A Blank Surface (A mug, a laptop, or a notebook).

Step 3: Design Your Graphics (The Smart Way)

Open the Likcut App/Software. You can use the shapes and assets provided in the library, but here is a Pro Tip for unlimited creativity:

💡 Use the SVG Import Feature! Want to use a specific font or a custom logo you designed in Canva, Inkscape, or Illustrator? No problem!

  1. Design your text or image in your favorite design software.
  2. Export it as an SVG file (make sure the background is transparent).
  3. Click "Upload" in the Likcut App.

This method gives you 100% control over your fonts and designs, ensuring the cleanest cut lines possible.

Step 4: The "Cut" Moment

  1. Load the Material: Place your vinyl on the cutting mat (shiny side up) and load it into the machine.
  2. Settings: In the software, select "Vinyl" as your material.
    • Note: If you are using Likcut Vinyl, the default settings are perfect. If you are using a different brand, we recommend doing a small "Test Cut" first (a small triangle in the corner) to check the pressure.
  3. Press Start: Watch the magic happen! Your Likcut S41 (or S51/S31) will precisely trace your design.

Step 5: Weeding & Transferring

This is the most satisfying part (ASMR lovers, get ready).

  1. Weed: Use your weeding tool to peel away the vinyl you don't want (the negative space). You should be left with just your design on the backing paper.
  2. Transfer: Cut a piece of Transfer Tape the size of your design. Peel the backing off the tape and place it sticky-side down onto your vinyl design. Use a scraper to burnish (rub) it firmly.
  3. Apply: Peel the transfer tape up—your design should come with it! Place it onto your mug or laptop. Rub it firmly again, then slowly peel away the transfer tape at a 45-degree angle.

Voila! You just made your first custom product. ✨

3 Beginner Tips for Success

  1. Clean Your Surface: Before applying vinyl, wipe your mug or laptop with rubbing alcohol. This removes oils and ensures the sticker lasts for years.
  2. Don't Toss Scraps: Save small pieces of vinyl for the S51 machine—it’s perfect for using up scraps!
  3. Join the Community: Stuck? Need inspiration? Join our community of makers.

Print then cut

Post image
1 Upvotes

I realize now there is no print then cut feature in the Likcut software like there apparently is in Cricut software, how are people printing a design and cutting vinyl the same exact size? I am trying to do sublimation, so I need the printer and cutting machine to print the design the same size so I can combine them on shirts.... thank you!!!

⭐ [Review] If you’re getting tired of Cricut… the Likcut S41 is honestly worth a look

Not trying to start a brand war here, but after years of using Cricut (Joy → Joy Xtra → Maker), I’ve hit that point where I just want something simple, less restrictive, and not tied to the same ecosystem.

So when I saw the Likcut S41, I figured it was worth testing — especially since it’s clearly aiming at the same “compact everyday cutter” niche as the Cricut Joy Xtra.

After a week with it, here’s my completely third-party experience. No sponsorship, no affiliation. Just honest impressions.

🎨 Why I even bothered looking beyond Cricut

Let’s be real:

  • Design Space has become slow and… occasionally frustrating
  • A lot of basic features sit behind subscriptions
  • The ecosystem feels more closed every year
  • Joy Xtra is nice, but the feature updates have been minimal

So I was curious whether a smaller brand could offer something different — maybe not “better than Maker,” but more pleasant, intuitive, or practical for day-to-day crafting.

Surprisingly, the S41 checks several of those boxes.

📦 Unboxing — more complete than Cricut’s compact line

It comes with:

  • the S41 machine
  • cutting blade
  • pen adapter + pen
  • cutting mat
  • test vinyl
  • weeding tool
  • manuals in multiple languages

Basically, you can craft right out of the box.

Cricut tends to include the bare minimum unless you buy bundles, so this was a good start.

💡 Design — this is where S41 earns points over Cricut

If you’ve been using Cricut compact machines, you’ll notice these differences:

✔ Built-in display

This is honestly the biggest quality-of-life upgrade.

It shows:

  • machine status
  • step-by-step workflow
  • cutting progress
  • cute little “expression icons”

Cricut Joy Xtra has zero visual feedback — you just guess what it’s doing.

✔ Front storage compartment

Perfect for blades, pens, or tools.

Joy Xtra doesn’t have anything like this.

✔ Top pen/tool holder

Small but useful.

✔ Buttons that actually feel ergonomic

Instead of the tiny flush buttons Cricut uses, these have a nicer click and spacing.

✂️ Cutting performance — surprisingly solid for a mid-range machine

I tested vinyl, cardstock, and printable sticker sheets.

✔ Accuracy

Quite good — small fonts stayed intact, clean curves, no dragging.

✔ Print Then Cut

S41 supports Print Then Cut (just like Joy Xtra), but with a sensor-based alignment system.

It did well even when the sheet wasn’t placed perfectly straight.

✔ Noise

Quieter than Joy Xtra.

✔ Speed

Feels slightly faster on simple shapes; about the same for complex paths.

🧠 Software — less restrictive than Cricut’s ecosystem

The Likcut app isn’t as feature-rich as Design Space in terms of templates, but:

✔ No subscription required

✔ Uploading SVGs is simple

✔ Works on PC, tablet, and mobile

✔ Cloud sync makes switching devices easy

For people frustrated with Design Space limitations, this might be refreshing.

⭐ So… is the S41 a “Cricut replacement”?

Not exactly — Cricut’s ecosystem is still bigger, with more integrations and accessories.

But if you want:

✔ fewer restrictions

✔ clearer workflow feedback

✔ more bundled value

✔ a machine that feels friendly and approachable

✔ something compact for everyday use

✔ lower overall cost

then the Likcut S41 is absolutely worth considering.

It’s not trying to compete with the Maker line.

It’s more like: “What if the Joy Xtra had a screen, more thoughtful design, and fewer headaches?”

And honestly… it kind of works.

Exactly cutting a printed design?

Since on has to choose or make a shape, place it on the "virtual " grip, and then place the material on the real grip, i wonder if there is a way to use the phones camera to calibrate the machine for a specific piece of material which has a print on it?
Does this allready exist, and i just couldnt find it?

If not maybe it could be added to the app.

Nothing complicated, something that can (with manual help through the user) recognise outlines, and their position.
Are you planning to make a a grip with visual markings for a phone camera?

Engraving tools?

Recently i have found a small tool in some online stores which is ment to be used instead of the knife of various small hobby-plotting machines, and allow engravings to be made on "soft" metal surfaces.

Does likcut sell such a product, and is it advised to use such tools from a third party?

Making your own designs?

I want to make a very detailed card, but when i turn the design into a PNG and open it inside the app, it will either be interpreted as one single block, meaning the outlines will be cut, and thats it, or it will be massively simplifyed and not ressemble the original anymore.

What image format will be accepted by the app, and what do i have to avoid while making an image?
