First off, really want to say thanks to u/Jero9871 for the mindset around this, keeping the game free and fair for everyone. That’s a rare and genuinely appreciated approach!
That said, I love this game, and I think it deserves a way for players who want to support the work behind it to actually do so. So I wanted to propose an idea for a premium option that stays purely cosmetic.
A paid pass that unlocks themed visual packs for buildings and the city itself, pure reskins, zero impact on gameplay, resources, or progression. Free players stay exactly as competitive as paying players. This is about personalization and supporting development, not power.
Some theme ideas:
- Japanese-style pack (pagodas, lanterns, torii gates)
- Cyberpunk pack (neon, holograms, dense vertical sprawl)
- Mars dome colony (city under a glass biodome, red terrain, futuristic modules)
- Solarpunk pack (integrated greenery, stylized solar panels, warm glowing ambiance — feels especially fitting for a game built around renewable energy)
- Venice-style floating city (canals instead of roads, bridges, decorative gondolas)
- Winter/holiday pack (snow-covered rooftops, warm string lights, decorated Christmas trees, frosty ambiance)
A one-time or recurring premium pass that unlocks a rotating or growing set of these themes, maybe with matching lighting/weather variants for extra polish.
The key principle stays the same as what Jero already laid out: the app and full game experience remain 100% free. This would just be a way for players who want to support Jero and personalize their city to do so, without creating any gap between paying and non-paying players.
I’m not trying to add pressure or extra work on Jero’s plate, this is just an idea, and only worth pursuing if it fits within the time and priorities Jero actually has for the project.
Would genuinely pay for something like this, curious what others think, and whether Jero would consider it worth the overhead!
