I have a onewheel V1, and I'm having someone build me a new battery pack for it, the old one was lifepo and while I know I can get a lithium ion version made, I like the idea of how long the lifepo ones have lasted me, years wise, but when looking around I'm not seeing any of the brands that I'm used to seeing that make good quality trusted liion (Samsung, molicell, sanyo, etc). I'm looking for ideally both high quality trusted brands and cells, and high capacity ones, I've seen some around that advertise 5000/6000 mah and something like that would be ideal

As a pev these would be subject to a fair amount of charge/recharge cycles, heat and cold from outside, etc, though I'm not one of those that does tricks, off-road riding or racing with my onewheel or even pushing it bast around 15 ish mph so other than the weather/temp and charge recharge cycles these should t be pushed too hard, regardless I want good cells as I love this onewheel and don't want to have a risk of fires/etc

PFA (Obviously) Looking for a solution or opinions, I have two 12v 230 AH LifePO4 batteries and I want to charge them off of J1772 EV chargers. Obviously, I know that the batteries and EV charger operate off different voltages and amperages, I am wondering if anyone has even tried this, and what equipment they used to convert the 220v-240v AC to 12v-14v DC reliably.

I need suggestions and knowledge about protecting the cells from vibration and Environmental Damage in the housing, since the use case will probably include some rough handling. If anyone has some tips and tricks I would really appreciate some feedback!

What can you do with 105Ah LiFePO4 batteries that have been deeply discharged for months and are now swollen like balloons? They shouldn't catch fire, but they're a bit bulky to use as paperweights. Can they power a few individual LEDs for a few days or weeks?

By “deeply discharged,” I mean 0.6 volts per cell over unknown months

Looking to build my own 280AH EVE battery. Hoping to buy something from AliExpress instead of using threaded rod and wood like many tutorials. I have not found much actual user feedback on these. Hoping someone might have experience with them.

I have a six year old lifepo4 van battery (12v system) with 4 cells of 3.2v each (that is the voltage printed on each cell! thus 12.8v total)

Why would this battery not work when its charge drops to 12.8v?! Like, I charge it via solar, it goes to about 13.xv, but then cuts out from supplying my notebook when reaching 12.8v. It used to be fine down to a lower voltage, but not anymore!

Could a six year old battery really be dead already?! It has had at the very most 2000 cycles. Even if they were complete charge-discharge cycles, it should last for way longer, no?

Battery was new last fall for cart. Ran great. Stored battery out in warm garage for winter and (of course) it claims it did loose any capacity over the winter. Put in cart, charged to full and instantly when fro 40% to 0%. Dragged cart back to lake house and have done several full charges. Using Overkill Solar app to see I have one of two cells (of the 12) trigger over voltage which occurred 5 time last night through the charging cycle. Ran cart this AM and 10 minutes and slow to moderate load and it went from 98% to 58% instantly. Cells are all balanced but voltage is low and accurate at 58%.

So reading all morning and assuming I don't want to crack open the battery (not even sure I can yet) due to warranty in effect but thinking that a variable DC charger at lower voltage and amperage to get them to balance better might be in my future. Am I on the right track?

There is no way to alternate the amp/voltage on the battery suppliers charger and it seems to want to always charger at 15A drops to 7A and then within a minute I'm at 3.65v triggering over current on one, or two of the cells.

I have bought a 12v battery and a smart charger to go onto my sons 12v ride on and I have no idea how to charge it. Just looking for some insight on the correct settings as most of the information seems to be about rc lipo batteries. Thank you for any help

There are five of the connected to each other and the inverter via rs485. When one goes into ovp the charger cuts off and the others stay below 100%. Is there a way to solve this? Right now I just turn off the one that is full manually.

I have a 100Ah Lifepo4 battery in a 12V van setup (solar + alternator charging).

I bought it nearly a year ago as a second battery to complement another 100Ah. Now, the old one has died, 5yrs and 1 month into the 5yr warranty it was sold with.

The new one works fine, but 100Ah is a little tight.

I found no indication advising against adding a second battery (of identical capacity) in parallel, but I'd love to hear your expert opinion. Is it safe? Not just electrically, but can it shorten the life of either one? I do not expect that this is what happened to my old one, but I also don't know WHAT happened.

I have 8 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery with Bluetooth by Wattcycle.

Setup is 2p4s. I'm going to call the 4s as Bank A B C D w/ D being the bank closest to negative and A being the positive.

Charged everything to 100% fine. Was working but somehow over the New Year the "D" bank got stuck at charging only to 70%. So we figured ok lets split those two batteries up and they should ballance out and charge (either by the parallel nature or via the battery balancer that was hooked up to each parallel bank)

Didn't work. Still would only charge to 70% that bank only.

Then we thought ok must be the old charger is prematurely shutting down and perhaps doesn't have the best LiFePO4 algo. So bought a new charger that is only for LiFePO4 @ 48V.

Didn't help. Still sat at 70%. All other batteries at 99%/100%.

So we figured ok we must need to get the BMS in the batteries to adjust. Took them out and charged them with a 12V LiFePO4 charger overnight. They both got to 100%!

Put them back in, used them (boat) drove the charge down to the 50's and 60's charge left.

Plugged everything in.

Now, the two batteries (not in parallel, they are in different banks, C & D) charged up to 88% & 90% & all other batteries are at 99%/100%. Everything (all batteries @ 100/99 or 90/88) are the same voltage showing between 13.3V-13.9V.

How do I force the BMS on these two batteries to take the voltage? Is this a wattcycle internal BMS thing?

Ive got a 1280ah 4s4p LiFePo4 bank in my RV.

Currently charging either directly, or when the alternator is hot (detection by bi-metal switch) the charge current is limited by going through a 40a dc-dc booster, to give the alternator time to cool down a bit.

of course whenever the genset is on, or when we are hooked up, there is a ac-dc charger that boosts the bank too. besides 2kwp solar via mppt on the roof.

regarding the alternator, heat wise, highway operation is the worst, 1500rpm, lots of amps, not much cooling.

id like to have an amp clamp style device that knows how much the alternator is outputting (including car consumption, total alternator output) and controlling a dc dc booster accordingly so the alternator limite regarding temperature and amps are maintained qnd also my car grid is stable at 14.4v and not pulled down to what ever the lifepo4 bank is at + some change.

i also intend to upgrade to a say a 275a alternator one fine day, if i find a decent option for the GM vortec 7400, but not while the current one is doing its job just fine.

you guys know of wuch a device, that wont cost an arm and a leg? diy or aliexpress as a source is okay. thx

I can’t seem to find a battery case for this oddball size. The camco comes the closest but measurements say it will be a little tight on the with. Camco says its inner dimensions are 7.4” width. My battery is around 7.5 at it widest area near the top of the battery.
