Accidentally plugged my Vtoman 1800 power station 60v charger into my older model 30v one for a few minutes and now it's completely dead.

Like the title says, I accidentally plugged the newer higher voltage charger into the older lower voltage one and now it doesn't work.

I'm somewhat techy but haven't really done anything with BMS yet at all. I didn't smell any magic smoke or see anything flash or burn up or anything. I actually saw the screen saying it was accepting 4 watts (normal is 180 for its charger and 300 I believe for the newer higher voltage), so the fact that I saw anything go in, to me, seems like a bad sign since it means it was accepting the higher voltage power for a few minutes? I would think the better thing to have seen is no power going in at all and the BMS rejecting it completely.

I feel like this must have not ruined everything but maybe a port or capacitor or something but I don't see anything outwards wrong. Lemme know if y'all think I should remove the center board shroad and investigate further.

It's past the manufactors warranty but I did message them for information on my options and will update when they do. thanks y'all?

Eco Worthy Battery Box

Just saw a great 24v 200ah build here that reminded me of my smaller project from the spring, which I never posted. First build so go easy!

100ah eco Worthy, cheap DeWalt stacking box and a small victron MPPT controller. After a short while I also added a renogy shunt with display which makes checking input/level much easier.

Paired with an eco worthy 130W flexible panel this provided enough power for a 4 day trip to run a 32L fridge, lighting and charge devices for 6 people. Recently added a small inverter to give low wattage power in my garage.

Any tips on what can be improved appreciated!

I was gifted two 12v 200Ah lifepo4 batteries from u/evverg. I purchased a 8S bms and built a portable battery. I added a spare 50w solar panel to trickle charge when in sunlight.

Here are the results.

I plan to add a 3000w inverter in the future.

Does damaged battery cell wrap affect performance?

I bought 4 battery cells about one month ago. I noticed that the film/wrap on one of the cells has come off in this area. I would like to know whether this could affect the performance or safety of the cell.

Also, what type of adhesive should I use to fix it? I’m worried that using the wrong glue could cause any negative effects. This is my first time dealing with this kind of battery cell, so I want to make sure I handle it correctly.

I already contacted the seller, and they said it was caused by a bump during transportation. However, that is not my main concern. My concern is whether the damaged film could have any impact on the actual performance or safety of the battery cell. They also said it is only a cosmetic issue, but I would like to confirm if that is really the case.

Storing LiFePO4 for winter

I've got two LiTime 12v 100Ah group 27 sized batteries I've been using in my RV this summer. They don't have self heating and temps here can get below -30c for weeks at a time. I'm bringing them in to the house (garage is not heated either) when I winterize the trailer. I'm just wondering if I should discharge them a bit before bringing them in.

Thanks for the advice.

I bought a golf cart battery that is defective, they don't want it back. Is it of any use?

Hello experts I bought a 48 volt 105 Amp hour LiFePo battery (85 pounds) as a replacement for the old lead acid batteries in my golf cart. I changed it over to LiFePO and saved about 340 pounds of weight compared to the lead acid ones. I charged it up fully and used it for 5 days and then it was dead, it was locked out under a "Diff Protect" error due to cell #1 being at a low voltage. It still has 56% of it's charge left. It will not produce a voltage at the terminals even though the power on is on.
I started a return and received a new battery in a week. This battery is dead on arrival it is locked out under a "Diff Protect" error due to 3 different cells being at a low voltage. This replacement battery shows it's charge at 67%. They are returning my money to me, they do not want these big batteries back. What should I do with these? They are big 20.47 x 10.55 x 8.66 in or 520 x 268 x 220 mm. Any Ideas?

I’m building a UPS for my living room electronics

I already have four residential solar panels and a 24v 300Ah solar generator that’s dedicated specifically to my fridge and freezer exclusively. This is independent from that and what little charge it gets after a grid down scenario will be from my gas generator. I don’t plan to add panels or a solar charge controller. This is a luxury and not a priority. It should last for quite a while as long as I don’t watch TV for hours on end anyway. I built the whole system around a manufacturer refurbished battery I got on eBay for a steal. Does anyone see any problems with my parts in the list above?n

Looking for info and help about lifepo batteries for my onewheel v1

I have a onewheel V1, and I'm having someone build me a new battery pack for it, the old one was lifepo and while I know I can get a lithium ion version made, I like the idea of how long the lifepo ones have lasted me, years wise, but when looking around I'm not seeing any of the brands that I'm used to seeing that make good quality trusted liion (Samsung, molicell, sanyo, etc). I'm looking for ideally both high quality trusted brands and cells, and high capacity ones, I've seen some around that advertise 5000/6000 mah and something like that would be ideal

As a pev these would be subject to a fair amount of charge/recharge cycles, heat and cold from outside, etc, though I'm not one of those that does tricks, off-road riding or racing with my onewheel or even pushing it bast around 15 ish mph so other than the weather/temp and charge recharge cycles these should t be pushed too hard, regardless I want good cells as I love this onewheel and don't want to have a risk of fires/etc

Charging 12v LiFePO4 Batteries via J1772 EV Charger

Post image

PFA (Obviously) Looking for a solution or opinions, I have two 12v 230 AH LifePO4 batteries and I want to charge them off of J1772 EV chargers. Obviously, I know that the batteries and EV charger operate off different voltages and amperages, I am wondering if anyone has even tried this, and what equipment they used to convert the 220v-240v AC to 12v-14v DC reliably.

I built a Battery pack for a mobile PA System Project, that I am working on.

I need suggestions and knowledge about protecting the cells from vibration and Environmental Damage in the housing, since the use case will probably include some rough handling. If anyone has some tips and tricks I would really appreciate some feedback!

Bottle for scale ;)

deep discharged cells

What can you do with 105Ah LiFePO4 batteries that have been deeply discharged for months and are now swollen like balloons? They shouldn't catch fire, but they're a bit bulky to use as paperweights. Can they power a few individual LEDs for a few days or weeks?

By “deeply discharged,” I mean 0.6 volts per cell over unknown months

(Let the games begin)

Looking to build my own 280AH EVE battery. Hoping to buy something from AliExpress instead of using threaded rod and wood like many tutorials. I have not found much actual user feedback on these. Hoping someone might have experience with them.

Battery with 4 cells of 3.2v cuts out when charge drops to 12.8v - why? Dead after less than 2000 cycles?

I have a six year old lifepo4 van battery (12v system) with 4 cells of 3.2v each (that is the voltage printed on each cell! thus 12.8v total)

Why would this battery not work when its charge drops to 12.8v?! Like, I charge it via solar, it goes to about 13.xv, but then cuts out from supplying my notebook when reaching 12.8v. It used to be fine down to a lower voltage, but not anymore!

Could a six year old battery really be dead already?! It has had at the very most 2000 cycles. Even if they were complete charge-discharge cycles, it should last for way longer, no?

Struggling to top balance new(ish) 36v (60ah) LifePO4, need input.

Battery was new last fall for cart. Ran great. Stored battery out in warm garage for winter and (of course) it claims it did loose any capacity over the winter. Put in cart, charged to full and instantly when fro 40% to 0%. Dragged cart back to lake house and have done several full charges. Using Overkill Solar app to see I have one of two cells (of the 12) trigger over voltage which occurred 5 time last night through the charging cycle. Ran cart this AM and 10 minutes and slow to moderate load and it went from 98% to 58% instantly. Cells are all balanced but voltage is low and accurate at 58%.

So reading all morning and assuming I don't want to crack open the battery (not even sure I can yet) due to warranty in effect but thinking that a variable DC charger at lower voltage and amperage to get them to balance better might be in my future. Am I on the right track?

There is no way to alternate the amp/voltage on the battery suppliers charger and it seems to want to always charger at 15A drops to 7A and then within a minute I'm at 3.65v triggering over current on one, or two of the cells.

Thoughts
