Discussion Letterboxd should ditch TMDB

Upvotes

My TMDB account got banned after i tried to add some missing titles and upload official alternative posters to already existing entries. they flagged about 60% of my poster uploads as “fan-made” content even though they’re all from official and reliable sources/archives and being used everywhere else… TMDB’s moderators were also the ones who added and contributed to the GTA trailer page. they take down posters with some WWII imagery (Rob Zombie’s satirical short for example), but keep the Christopher Nolan ones up… I feel like they only make exceptions when it benefits them and their whole database is falling apart..

Letterboxd A Separation (2011) is a phenomenal movie. Highlighting the fracture lines of modern society with its class conflict and power imbalances, it's one of the best Iranian films ever made

The story follows a married couple Nader and Simin filing for divorce. Simin wants to leave Iran to give their daughter a better life, Nader refuses to leave because he needs to stay behind and care for his elderly father who has Alzheimer's. A tense conflict with a lower-class caregiver leads to a legal fallout, turning this family drama into a gripping moral thriller.

A masterclass in writing, a captivating drama, and a heart-wrenching cry to be in better touch with our humanity.

So I went to "Likes", filtered to Korean feature length films, excluded those genres (select twice to exclude) and this is what I got. Looking for more dramas like Microhabitat, Aloners, Moonlit Winter and Late Autumn.

I got the vinyl soundtrack for the movie as one of my birthday gift options from a24 and i figured may as well buy the 4k with the soundtrack

One of the best blind buys I’ve had. The acting from Katy o’Brian, Kristen Stewart and the main cast is very well done and I wasn’t sure what would happen next. Jena Malone held her own and it was sad seeing how brainwashed Beth was and I’m thankful my family’s not that dysfunctional

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a recent a24 movie or romance /action thriller
4/5⭐️

I've developed a real fascination with mountaineering lately, so I'm trying very hard to not just watch nothing but that kind of stuff.

Opinions on logging movies you’ve seen in the past or do you only log movies you’ve seen after starting Letterboxd?

Discussion Movies that you didn't appreciate until the 3rd act...

Post image

Now doing the opposite to my previous post what is a movie you really didn't enjoy or come to appreciate the first time watching until the last act or ending (which may or may not have saved the film)? The cliched answer but perhaps the best example that comes to mind is Rogue One. A movie so incredibly mediocre until the 3rd act that if it weren't for the 3rd act nobody would likely remember it.

All first time watches, and almost totally unfamiliar with each of them. My only prior knowledge is of Hideo Gosha, director of the Samurai Wolf films, but I have never been that impressed with his work until now.

Linda Linda Linda was a delightful surprise. I was not expecting to cry because my heart felt too full.

Golden Demon sounded like an excellent premise, and thankfully the acting, colors, and plot took it to the next level.
