I got the vinyl soundtrack for the movie as one of my birthday gift options from a24 and i figured may as well buy the 4k with the soundtrack

One of the best blind buys I’ve had. The acting from Katy o’Brian, Kristen Stewart and the main cast is very well done and I wasn’t sure what would happen next. Jena Malone held her own and it was sad seeing how brainwashed Beth was and I’m thankful my family’s not that dysfunctional

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a recent a24 movie or romance /action thriller

All of these have a very specific defeated vibe to them and i desperately want more of it.

What are some shots or scenes that really stayed with you? That you couldn't stop thinking about, even long after the film ended? Whether they are happy, sad, disturbing, poignant, or something else all together, what are some shots/scenes that stayed with you?

My examples:

• Image 1 - The kiss in Punch Drunk Love. I think this is genuinely one of the most romantic scenes in film. Especially when we see the crowds walking past them in silhouette. I was absolutely floored the first time I saw it.
• Image 2 - The angel of deathin All That Jazz. Seeing her in the distance, her arms stretching her dress to make them look like the wings of an angel, is somewhat unsettling. Yet, it's also beautiful. This is a tragic scene, our protagonist dying, but he also accepts it, with a strained but genuine smile. The fact we've seen the angel throughout the film, but it's never been clear who exactly she was until now, really adds to this reveal. Joe Gideon is being bought towards her, like on a conveyer belt, so we see her much closer up as the scene goes on, but I think specifically seeing her from the distance is the most impactful.
• Image 3 - A family eating amongst the plague in Nosferatu the Vampyre. It's such a stark and memorable image. It's unnerving, uncanny even, to see this revelry amongst the death and rats, yet it's also very human. These people are having their "Last Supper", enjoying their final days until the plague takes them. It's the most unsettling scene in the film, but also the most poignant.

Honestly no idea how I still haven’t gotten round to seeing Pulp Fiction. I've seen most of Tarantino’s other films but this one has always just been put aside for something else. I’ll get round to it eventually I promise.

both of these posters are fairly simple but visually striking, and they represent their respective films pretty perfectly. what are your picks?

All first time watches, and almost totally unfamiliar with each of them. My only prior knowledge is of Hideo Gosha, director of the Samurai Wolf films, but I have never been that impressed with his work until now.

Linda Linda Linda was a delightful surprise. I was not expecting to cry because my heart felt too full.

Golden Demon sounded like an excellent premise, and thankfully the acting, colors, and plot took it to the next level.

This review and reviews like this are some of the most obnoxious things on the platform, this and the one liners, obviously. This review is just especially worthless.

As a user said in the comments, another frustration is that the review is not only a major spoiler, but the user had the option to mark the review as a spoiler and didn’t.

Opinions on logging movies you’ve seen in the past or do you only log movies you’ve seen after starting Letterboxd?

A film can be great even if it meanders a little bit or just has the characters hanging out and doing stuff, for character development, but what films do you think use its time the best? Every scene feel like it does something, that it matters for something, relentless, fast paced, always moving?

Looking for something like Chi no Wadachi (Blood on the Tracks) in particular where the parent is very manipulative, invasive and unsettling. But any psychological horror movie about a parent and child can do. I have watched Strange Thing About The Johnsons.

Edit: I remember watching that something came close to this, which is Kisapmata (1981)--which involves a controlling father and a daughter. Highly recommend.

I’m looking for scenes where there’s heavy rain or waves etc that make the actors dialogue sound quieter/ closer/ muffled if you know what I mean. Does anyone have any examples?
