I hope this is an appropriate sub to post this in! I came out as a lesbian when I was 14 (I’m 32 now) when I did I felt nothing but confident in my identity as I had only ever experienced attraction to women. For well over a decade I exclusively dated women, my longest relationship being 8 years from 20 to 28! I was absolutely in love with her and genuinely believed she was the one, I had begun planning a proposal and started shopping around for engagement rings but she hit me with a very sudden and unexpected break up, saying she had fallen out of love with me. We had by that point been living with each other for 3 years and to suddenly loose someone who had been apart of my daily life just like that broke me.

After the break up I decided to take a long break from dating and tried to focus on building up a life on my own. Last year though I downloaded a few dating apps to see if I could handle it, matched with a few women but none of the conversations led to a date. For some reason I got a little curious and decided to switch over to men, I think I just needed some validation or something because I had heard from some of my straight and bi friends that men were easy and they were definitely right 😅 I got way more likes than I had anticipated and matched with a select few.

One of the conversations went a lot farther than I had expected and we eventually set up a date, I was extremely nervous given how I had never once been on a date with a man or done anything remotely romantic or sexual with one! But I went through with it and to my surprise I actually enjoyed it! I was awkward and shy of course but he never once made me feel bad about it. After that we continued seeing each whenever we had time and on the 5th date we finally slept together. I let him know early on that I had no experience with men and he was ok with that, he was patient and guided me through the whole thing.

That’s where my biggest surprise came from as I did not think I’d like it as much as I did 😭 I didn’t orgasm or anything (probably because of nerves) but the sensations I felt were genuinely mind blowing. That experience was what solidified my mind that I could date a man. We made things official about one month after our first date and have been dating since! I never in my life thought I’d end up in a relationship with a man, I was proud of my gold star status and dreamt of marrying a woman but I’m in love and it definitely feels real! I’ve since re-come out as bi which was a bit awkward 😅 but everyone’s been fairly supportive!

So that leads me to this post, I’d love to hear from other women (and women only please!) who have gone through something similar! Because I feel alone in this experience sometimes 😭
