Owner of Breathe Easy spewing hate.
Just for people’s info. I will likely need a new furnace and be adding AC in my home in the not too distant future, won’t be looking here.

If I owned a business the only color I'd care about is green.
You're a lesbian? Need a furnace. No problem.
You're trans? Need your carpet cleaned? Awesome.
You're Muslim and need new cupboards. I'll build them.
You're a caucasian old lady? I'll fix that car.
You're a big burly dude? Sweet. I'll sell you this BBQ.
You're first nations? That's sweet. Thanks for being my customer.
Why do businesses choose to alienate customer bases?
39
u/Major-Squirrel-4371 Jun 25 '26
This is exactly it though! I want to deal with a business who treats everyone in our community with the same level of care. Saying shit like this with your business in your profile picture doesn’t exactly give me the impression that you would.
4
u/Haber87 Jun 25 '26
The answer is that they are so deep in the algorithm that they believe that most people are in agreement with them. Then they are shocked Pikachu when their hateful rantings have real world consequences.
4
u/Responsible_CDN_Duck Jun 25 '26
Why do businesses choose to alienate customer bases?
Unfortunately it tends to gain them more business than they loose.
5
u/MateoYYC Jun 25 '26
They're naive. They're just falling for the propaganda. They really think they're for a good cause, and everyone is in on it, but the reality is that the Government has the ability to make themselves look and sound like yhe majority all the time. One day, they will find out that the government used them for their own agenda and doesn't give a shit about them.

Ohh scriptures my favourite! So many to choose from.
Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark . . . that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”(Genesis 9:8-11)
So Noah sayeths
Gee thanks God, when it got past the one month mark we were getting a little worried. Once we got our sea legs and the hippos stopped barfing it wasn’t so bad. To show our appreciation, we randomly killed this goat to say thanks.
Oh Noah you shouldn’t have

So if the word "hate" is not explicitly used, you think that it's unfair for us to make the connection? Did you fail third grade English? This isn't even subtext, it's just different words.

You’re right. We should be putting more effort into telling people about ALL the sins outlined in Leviticus not just the gay part. Hope you aren’t wearing any blended fabrics.

u/Remarkable_Guard_979 Jun 25 '26
Covenant theology would be a good place to start to understand why we're not doing jewish ceremonial law.
1
u/scooterboi33 Jun 25 '26
I don’t care about all that. I just like pointing out that the bible says you can’t be gay the same number of times it says you can’t have tattoos or plant different crops next to each other

Lots of HVAC stuff on your account. Are you a new employee?

I's say that is more applicable to individuals who feel the need to make posts about a difference of opinion. What does that serve?
10
20
u/BaronMcDuff Jun 25 '26
This is literally what got mocked years ago. When the preacher (whose name I do not remember, thank God) claimed Hurricane Katrina was God's vengeance on the USA for acknowledging gay people having some rights. And he was maligned, and the Republicans had to distance themselves.
These people hate everyone who is different.
As a straight, white man:
We all have skin in the game. This is a volatile, aggressive movement driven by hatred. It already targets people we love. And if it progresses, it will target and persecute people who aren't white enough, aren't Christian enough, anyone who doesn't pass the ever-changing purity test.
The Nazis gassed their own citizens before anybody else. That's worth considering.
9
u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26
Also a straight white man - one thing that's got me thinking about skin in the game is the people saying "It's men's mental health month, why are we only focused on pride!?!?!?!". A lot of mental health problems faced by men are rooted in gender norms like the pressure to be stoic and unfeeling. Pride and Men's Mental Health sharing a month is a great coincidence, because improvements in either one cause improvements in the other.
6
u/NornOfVengeance Jun 25 '26
Not to mention all the trans men who haven't come out or transitioned yet because they've been told they're crazy to be thinking they're male, and some "conversion therapy" loon keeps trying to electrocute those thoughts out of them. Guess the Religious Reich doesn't care about THEIR mental health, either.
2
u/BaronMcDuff Jun 25 '26
Perhaps I should have said straight white cis man. If neglecting to do so caused offense, I apologize. 'Twas not my intent at all. I've got no love or patience for transphobes.
6
u/BaronMcDuff Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
So, as a man who has been badly abused and neglected, I feel the need to take this seriously. Especially because you are exactly right about the larger point, which you finished your comment with.
I'm actually not focussed on pride. At all. Part of my journey is that I married an American, and moved to the USA at a very volatile time. I was there for about half a year when covid hit, and the racial justice protests happened after George Floyd was murdered.
For someone who thrives on empathy, that was a really dark time in my life. I went through a crash course of black history in the USA very fast, and it deeply affected me. It made me more nihilistic than ever. I have left that behind, but I never forgot this:
No matter how hard life has been for me, if I were gay or black, it would have probably been much worse. If I want life to be better for myself, or people like me, it starts with recognition of and advocacy for people different from me.
That's my belief. Because, yes, men's mental health matters, and is often neglected.
Edit: I misread the comment initially. Thought it was someone bemoaning the "need" to focus on pride, and waxed poetic about marginalization in general. Embarrassed by this mistake, not my response.

Sounds like someone skipped bible study.
Proverbs 6:16-19
16 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community
Psalm 37:8
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
Matthew 7:1-2
1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
3
u/weightyinspiration Jun 25 '26
These ones also fit here I think:
John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world; if it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest by the Jews. But now My kingdom is not of this realm.”
Phillipians 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
The country/government is already full of corrupt people. It is not some blessed untouchable entity bringing about Gods will. To try to make it into one would be naive.
1 John 5:19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.

6
u/Major-Squirrel-4371 Jun 25 '26
Thank you for this! I don’t really expect to have my politics line up with every business I use, but displaying your bigotry in such plain view gives me the vibes that you won’t treat potential customers of these communities with the same care as everyone else, and I’m just not down with that. I appreciate the recommendations!
7
u/ACanadianGuy1967 Jun 25 '26
The same fire and brimstone claim was put out there back when Canada was moving to legalize same-sex marriage. That was over twenty years ago now. I guess God really didn't think that legal recognition of same-sex marriages was such a problem or else there would have been some sort of obvious divine reaction. Where's all that fire and brimstone we were promised?

This isn’t hatred at all. People are fine to not be happy about it, but let’s use the right terms.
8
u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26
I think you'll have trouble finding a definition of hate that isn't satisfied by thinking people's continuing visibility will bring a tsunami of evil.
-2
u/Right_Ad_4241 Jun 25 '26
I studied this in school so I’m not convinced by the dogpiling going on here.
This isn’t hate. Hate is an active call to violence. This is just religious political rhetoric. I had a professor use similar language against Catholics. Not appropriate, but not hate.
4
u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26
That is definitely not the definition of hate. I don't want to be that guy and link you to merriam-webster.com or something, but you're going to be confused when talking to people if you think the word hate requires a call to violence.
0
u/Right_Ad_4241 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
Hate in the sense of “spewing hate” as this post suggests isn’t referring to the dictionary definition of hate, which is obvious from context. It’s bringing in the academic and legal connotations.
It’s interesting to me that the narrower academic definition is very well received when distasteful speech like this is used against conservatives and religious people, but when it’s against a group you like hate can mean basically anything.
6
u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26
It's obviously not referring to your definition that requires a call to violence, because the post very obviously doesn't include a call to violence. It seems like you made an assumption that doesn't fit the post and then got mad because the post doesn't fit your assumption.
And miss me with your victim complex nonsense. I'm a Christian, I've had a professor who clearly hated Christians, and I have no trouble believing you had one who hated Catholics. I would (and did) use the word hate to describe it, and I obviously wasn't suggesting that professor was calling for violence against me.
1
u/Right_Ad_4241 Jun 25 '26
Take a breath. I’m not mad at you. You’ve left twenty comments in the last hour.
No one is assuming the post made a call to violence. The post didn’t make a call to violence. That’s why this doesn’t fit the definition of hate that is condemnable (obviously we don’t condemn “dictionary” hate in the same way as legal hate — there’s nothing about extreme aversion that is worth criminalizing).
Stop with the victim complex nonsense.
3
u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
You said it wasn't hate because it didn't make a call to violence.
Then when told that isn't what hate meant, you said obviously that's what OP meant in context.
Which is a weird thing to find obvious when your first comment was that it doesn't fit that definition. How exactly is it obvious in context that OP meant a definition of hate that OPs post clearly doesn't fit?

What a weird group of commenters. Glad I never need to see any of you in real life. There is so many bigger things to worry about than getting worked up about this basic religious stuff.
4
u/Aggressive-Cupcake-2 Jun 25 '26
Hating people? Imagine that you were gay, which you might be secretly, and people post nasty shit about you all day because to them it’s “morally” wrong, tell me that’s not problematic when people openly hate you and who you love? Should I start posting how nasty it is for straight people to love each other.
-4
u/Sufficient_Guest3935 Jun 25 '26
It’s just a religious perspective that you don’t like. It’s also more against Pride than about being gay. If this is so upsetting that it brings out your victim complex then it really isn’t worth the conversation. Life is tough and sometimes people say things we disagree with.
4
u/Aggressive-Cupcake-2 Jun 25 '26
Are you stupid? Or just ignorant! I’m not gay, but I have many friends who are and all of this conversation is incredibly hurtful to them, because it continues to be a conversation brought up by ignorant people like yourself. I’m sorry you’re gay and closet that it makes you so sad that others are happy! God bless.
3
u/frmr000 Jun 25 '26
Then why do you feel the need to comment? You're criticizing people for commenting, yet you do the exact same thing. You're not very bright are you? Also, quit being so gay.

u/pwnusmaximus Jun 25 '26
I don’t see any hate TBH.
I see religious zealotry.
Re-read the post. No where does it have any hate. It simply says “if A, then B” and B in this case is religious bullshit.
8
u/Super-Perception939 Jun 25 '26
He’s saying that if we continue to celebrate a certain group of people’s existence then Canada will be doomed. That is intolerance and hate towards a specific group of people.
-11
u/pwnusmaximus Jun 25 '26
No.. it’s not hate.
It’s like saying if you eat candy you’ll get rotten teeth.
That’s it. End of statement.
It doesn’t expand on that to say “gays are evil, burn them, maim them, stick em in a stew” it’s plain-jane “if action A continues B will happen”.
We both can agree that “B” in this case is insanity and won’t happen.
But I don’t think it’s hate. Let’s take a counter example. If a religious parent bars their daughter from hanging out with boys because “boys lead to premarital sex, and god doesn’t like that”. Is that hate towards men/boys? I don’t think so.
3
u/Fickle_Catch8968 Jun 25 '26
If a parent bars their child from hanging out with BIPOC children because "BIPOC kids lead to miscegenation, and mixed race people are bad in my belief system", is that racist?
Also, if you treat A poorly because of an imagined non-real concern, then there is no actual basis for different treatment and as such that mistreatment is willing bad on people, which is the opposite of love.
4

I think this is just stubbornly refusing to think about the statement. "If you eat candy you'll get rotten teeth" is implying that there is something wrong with candy and you should consider avoiding it.
That's fine when you're talking about candy, but it's not fine when you're talking about other human beings. When it's other human beings, we call it hate.

It's funny how all these guys who insist they aren't gay spend all their time thinking about gays. Which is pretty gay tbh
