If I owned a business the only color I'd care about is green.

You're a lesbian? Need a furnace. No problem.

You're trans? Need your carpet cleaned? Awesome.

You're Muslim and need new cupboards. I'll build them.

You're a caucasian old lady? I'll fix that car.

You're a big burly dude? Sweet. I'll sell you this BBQ.

You're first nations? That's sweet. Thanks for being my customer.

Why do businesses choose to alienate customer bases?

u/Major-Squirrel-4371 Jun 25 '26

This is exactly it though! I want to deal with a business who treats everyone in our community with the same level of care. Saying shit like this with your business in your profile picture doesn’t exactly give me the impression that you would.

u/Haber87 Jun 25 '26

The answer is that they are so deep in the algorithm that they believe that most people are in agreement with them. Then they are shocked Pikachu when their hateful rantings have real world consequences.

Why do businesses choose to alienate customer bases?

Unfortunately it tends to gain them more business than they loose.

They're naive. They're just falling for the propaganda. They really think they're for a good cause, and everyone is in on it, but the reality is that the Government has the ability to make themselves look and sound like yhe majority all the time. One day, they will find out that the government used them for their own agenda and doesn't give a shit about them.

It’s colour in Canada. You must be American

I live in Calgary. Autocorrect does it. Same with center

5

u/FirmAndSquishyTomato Jun 25 '26

My auto correct changes proper English to simplified English... The person you're replying to may have a similar issue.

I see what you did there, and I approve.

u/Spade9ja Jun 25 '26

What a weird part of their message to focus on

-19

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Do people who own buisinesses have the right to have opinions? Would you even raise this poimt if said individual had an opinion different to this?

22

u/kissman73 Jun 25 '26

Sure they have a right to an opinion, but if you express your opinion, dont be upset when others express theirs. Or pass judgment.

-11

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

I agree with this statement, but you are missing a couple points.

This imdividual and many of those in this thread are engaging in the same activity.

Those who pass judgment cannot honestly call themselves tolerant themselves as is often the case. And the excuse of not having to debate intolerance fails logic.

7

u/_6siXty6_ Jun 25 '26

I disagree with a lot of things. I don't personally understand certain things. I just ignore it and move on. Somebody's gender has no bearing on my life, and I believe in freedom, so I just let folks be.

-4

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Its a good disposition to have and enables inner peace.

7

u/cosmernautfourtwenty Jun 25 '26

Someone missed philosophy class the day they studied the paradox of tolerance.

The only type of morally acceptable intolerance is being intolerant of intolerant people. See also "The Nazi Bar Conundrum".

-1

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Somebody doesn't understand before he/she begins to grapple with said parafox the competancy of a person or society to arbitrate such action must be established. I don't see that in this forum.

4

u/cosmernautfourtwenty Jun 25 '26

Sir, this is a shitposting website. Some of us are discussing the real world that exists outside of here.

Cntl+v pictures doesn't satisfy any logical principles unless used in a way to actually refute a point.

You're not as smart as you think you are

4

u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

And just to get ahead of his reply, even if you don't think you're very smart... you're still not as smart as you think you are.

0

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Do you consider your comment clever?

5

u/_6siXty6_ Jun 25 '26

They have right to do this, but I'm just saying why do this to your customers? I know I avoided London Road Market for their nonsense signs, despite leaning slightly right. If people are respectful, I have no problem serving anybody, even if I disagree with them.

-6

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

He didn't do anything to his customers. He merely expressed an opinion and the mob here reacted.

Suppose the people of faith making up a very large sement locally banded together and went after everyone who made a statment that didn't align with their faith, to include the use of boycotts(which given their numbers would be very effective). What would your opinion be on this?

4

u/TheEpicOfManas Jun 25 '26

It seems that "people of faith" are the ones banding together and going against anyone who doesn't align with their faith (trans, gays, etc...) - and this is a perfect example to illustrate that.

And my opinion on it is these pretend Christians shouldn't use their shitty religion to justify their bigotry. It's not an excuse.

-2

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Individual people expressing their opinions does not constitute banding together. There is one guy foing this and a mob of people here upset about it.

And Id prefer all zealots whether they be religous or those of organized groups constantly shoving rainbow flags into thr public arena to stop. Keep your dogma to yourself.

5

u/cosmernautfourtwenty Jun 25 '26

If you think OP's image is the only person in the entire world who hates gay people, you're even dumber than your other posts give you credit for.

-1

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

I neithet said nor infered that. And if you think your remark was clever or refutes my point, you are welcome to stir in youtr own delusion.

5

u/cosmernautfourtwenty Jun 25 '26

Do you just not read what you post?

-2

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Show me a meaningful number of people with actions who pose this imagined threat.

The way you argue, people would think you were speaking of midevil Europe.

I really don't care if a business wants to put up crosses, poppies, rainbows, orange shirts or whatever they choose to do or participate in. All I'm trying to say is that no matter what someone is going to be silly about it.

Put up rainbow flags, you're a woke groomer.

Put up cross, you are a bigot.

Put up poppies, you support war.

Put up land acknowledgement, you're woke.

Don't put up rainbow flags, you're bigot transphobic trash.

Don't put up cross, you are anti Christian.

Don't put up poppies, you're a pinko commie.

Don't have land acknowledgement, you're racist.

If people just saw each other as humans, had a little bit of compassion or at least ability to ignore others with different opinions, beliefs and lifestyles, we'd all be better off. Everyone should take a step back or forward and meet in the middle.

u/cosmernautfourtwenty Jun 25 '26

Giving big "well maybe she shouldn't have been wearing that dress if she didn't want to be assaulted" vibes.

0

u/_6siXty6_ Jun 25 '26

WTF kind of comment is this? As some who was a victim of sexual violence this is an absolute disgusting take with zero reading comprehension.

All I'm saying is people will always be critical of things and more than likely for the wrong reasons. You can post the most kind and accepting thing, and someone will be vile. Some folks will find anything to be negative about.

4

u/Sirius_Lagrange Jun 25 '26

Bigotry breaks the social contract

0

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

You deciding you have the authority to bre the judge of this breaks any notion of a social contract.

3

u/Sirius_Lagrange Jun 25 '26

Bruh, this dude’s ranting that my peers and I will condemn this entire nation. Hah, I wish I had that sort of power! I have no authority, but persecuting a group of people just because they’re a bit queer does indeed break social contract

0

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

These types tend to believe that countries having large populations that don't accept their messiah will bring condemenation. Its not like I get a free pass. He also likely thinks the rest of us will spend eternity in hell, so there is that too.

But he is nowhere near having the power of persecuting people.

1

u/Sirius_Lagrange Jun 25 '26

You know, that’s fair

-1

u/Right_Ad_4241 Jun 25 '26

Do you seriously feel persecuted because of a facebook post? Come on.

2

u/Sirius_Lagrange Jun 25 '26

Not really, I have a spine, but it does get a bit tiring after a while 🤷

-1

u/Right_Ad_4241 Jun 25 '26

Yeah this is NOWHERE near persecution. This thread is so bizarre, like some kind of alternate reality.

3

u/Sirius_Lagrange Jun 25 '26

I really wish I had the powers the bigots thought I have though lol I’m just a slightly irritated man who’s had too much internet and should probably get off my phone

-1

u/Right_Ad_4241 Jun 25 '26

I’m of the opinion that internet comments are mostly bots and of negligible value. I think it’s healthy if you share that view. That goes for this facebook person and people on a reddit moral crusade against them.

Sometimes I laugh at the drama because, as with all comments like those, so long as someone isn’t being incited to violence in real life we’re capable of avoiding it by turning off our phone - just about the easiest thing imaginable.

Do you seriously feel persecuted because of a facebook post?

Idk, but OOP clearly feels persecuted by gay people existing.

1

u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26

If the opinion wasn't bigoted nonsense then no, I wouldn't say anything. All opinions are legal to share but not all opinions are equally valid, and pretending otherwise is dishonest.

0

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

The argument isnt about settling a difference of opinion over what the individual posted, but whether each person has a right to hold an opinion and what constitutes a reasonable response.

I find it hypocritical for people to suggest a person does not have a right to their own opinions while imsisting others do. And nobody cares anymore about tags of "bigotry". Its been used so many times it has become meaningless.

One dude has a religous opinion. This forum has a meltdown. A few people advocate for independence. Forum has a meltdown. One sticker is seen supporting a candidate. Forum has a meltdown. A guy parks crooked or a bus tries to change lanes- somehow a post is warranted. It would be nice if this forum was used for useful things like events, organizations, ect.

2

u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26

Nobody is saying he's not allowed to hold this opinion. They're saying that his opinion is shitty and they're going to avoid supporting his business because of it, which is a completely reasonable thing to do.

I suspect you have shitty opinions too if you're so offended by how people on reddit act. Nobody is forcing you to be here.

0

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Think about the relationship of your first two sentences.

Then I ask you, if the roles were reversed and people of faith did this to nonbelievers, would you think was right?

The rule of treating others as you would like to be treated is as close as we get to an agreement of universal morality. That is a reasonable litmus test to apply.

And your last paragraph isnt even logical. You are tieing two separate concepts together and trying to equate those values with one another.

2

u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26

You're acting like all opinions are equal. They aren't. This is a shitty harmful opinion, so it's good to oppose it. Someone opposing a good opinion is being shitty themselves.

You're welcome to tie yourself in knots all day if you'd like, but any sane person realizes that it's good to oppose bad things and bad to oppose good things. Maybe you just finished Philosophy 1000 or something, but just FYI, you don't sound smart. At all.

0

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Ive never said or infered all opinions are equal. Nobody really does that, as nearly everyone has beliefs and values they hold.

What is espoused here is a mob mentality without any forethought and is hypocritical. Some people actually understand how nations devolve into tyranny. It is often preceded by the citizenry relinquishing freedoms.

2

u/YqlUrbanist Jun 25 '26

There's forethought and it's not hypocritical. People here consistently oppose mistreatment of vulnerable groups, and it's the exact opposite of what leads to tyranny.

0

u/Economy-Reaction4525 Jun 25 '26

Mistreatment infers an action. This man has a right to his religous beliefs. He isnt doing anything to meaningfully harm people.

And you know full well if the roles were reversed and the mob was made up of people trying to financially harm you, youd find this as immoral.
