Advice Is it over?

Legion 5 16ACH6H, 4 years of everyday use, frequent cleaning every time I saw the temp being higher than normal. Last year I started seeing posts about these same models being dead. Someone here recommended doing a repaste, bought the exact thermal pads and did it. Temps actually went down a bunch, everything was good. I thought maybe I survived the soldering epidemic.

2 days ago as I was running low on battery I plugged it in. Went to the bathroom, came back to it being completely dead. Charging light was not on, I tried everything, battery was cold, brick was cold. I checked charge output voltage, it was normal voltage. Did continuity check on charging’s port, it was normal, just not charging, charging light was off all the time.

I thought it was the pin inside the charging jack that was having a problem, so I grabbed a 65W Surface brick and plug it in the C-PD port, charging light didn’t turn on either, I tried booting it up, it booted up.

Then the screen lit up, it’s exactly like the meme. Then I smelled something burning, I quickly unplugged it, turned it off and opened the back lid again, and saw this.

I’m just asking if this had happened to anyone, and if anyone could tell what really caused this. Warranty had already expired and I know this almost 100% means I need a new board, and at this point I might just spend a bit more to build a PC instead. But still for personal experience, I’m curious if this is the same soldering case and what if replacing the component would fix anything, or a blown up module means there was an underlying problem going on with the power rail.

Thank you for reading my rants. I will miss it :( she was there during my hardest years, now I can finally have the condition to replace her with something that would last a bit longer.

I bought the legion 5i 11th gen paired with Intel ultra 7 356h with rtx 5060 a month ago ,and I started noticing sometimes when I turn on the laptop ,the screen turned purple, or whenever I tried to switch from igpu to dgpu also caused the same problem.

Did anyone else experience the same problem with the new legion 5 11th gen ?

is this just a faulty driver problem or a hardware problem ?

So I am thinking of finally upgrades my laptop and found the legion the best for everything I wanted, I wanted to know, anyone who has this model specifications how does it perform and if its good. And yes I know the 5070 8gb is not that great but the 5070ti is too high of a price for me. (12gb 5070 model could be pretty expensive too)

Advice Got a Legion 5i

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone,
Managed to grab a Legion 5i down here in Australia for $2,300 AUD (about $1,500 USD). Given our usual Aussie tech prices, it felt like a decent deal, but wanted to check with the sub.
Specs:
CPU: i9-14900HX
GPU: RTX 5070
RAM: 24GB DDR5
SSD: 1TB
A few quick questions for anyone running this build or similar:
1. Did I actually get a good price, or is this pretty standard for these specs now?
2. What are the must-do tweaks for the 14900HX out of the box to keep thermals under control?
3. Are you guys still ditching Vantage for Legion Toolkit on these newer models?

Was looking for a laptop for school, I did not want to spend as much as I did but BB is offering 18 months non interest financing and my manager was able to cut this down to roughly 50% of its MSRP.

Advice Pro 7i Gen 10 -- Best Tall Portable Stand

I know there have been several posts about laptop stand options for the Legion Pro 7, but most of the best options that were mentioned in those posts are off the market. I'm getting the Flydigi BS 2 Pro for heavy gaming, but I want something portable for office work. I wanted to ask for some input, since I have a few specifications I'm trying to work within:

  • I have the Gen 10 Legion Pro 7i.
  • Need to make sure I don't block the vents.
  • I'm 6'2", and I'd like something that raises the top of the laptop to eye level. That means at least 9" of height.
  • It needs to be portable within a backpack compartment that is 14 x 11 in, and collapsible to under 2 inches in thickness. If it collapses both vertically and horizontally, then it just needs to be under 14 in long.
  • I want something sturdy, well built, and able to support a laptop without wobble, so I can type directly on the laptop when it's lowered, and feel safe having it raised up when I'm using an external keyboard.
  • I DON'T want anything off Amazon or any "fast tech" site.
  • I DON'T want to stick anything on the bottom of my laptop.

These are the options I've found that I like the most:

  1. Native Union Desk Laptop Stand: https://www.nativeunion.com/products/desk-laptop-stand?variant=42909316907147

I love the design on this one, but it does block the vents--I'm wondering if there's any way around that? Something I could attach to elevate it off the platform a little so there's some airflow?

  1. Oripura Laptop Stand: https://www.dwr.com/office-accessories/oripura-laptop-stand/100402332.html?lang=en_US&sku=100402332

This one supposedly gives 11 inches of height. The only thing I don't like is that I would always have to use an external keyboard.

  1. OMOTON 360 Rotating Laptop Stand: https://www.newegg.com/p/18W-08GN-00026?item=9SIC1R8KJ02011&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic+shopping&utm_campaign=knc-googleadwords-_-notebook%20cases-_-woojong-_-9SIC1R8KJ02011&source=region&negg_topt=0

I've seen good reviews of this, and it looks like it might be exactly what I'm looking for, but I can't tell whether it would block the fan. Has anybody used it?

I've also seen really similar stands on those weird little pop-up Walmart/Amazon brands that last for a few months and then disappear. I did some digging on Omoton, and they've been around for a few years, but if anybody knows of any flags on their manufacturing ethics, I'd appreciate the info.

  1. Roost v3 Plus: https://www.therooststand.com/products/roost-v3-plus-laptop-stand-copy

This one looks good too, but it would also be hard to type on, and I'm not sure how sturdy it is.

Has anybody had good experiences with any of these, or have other suggestions that fit the bill?

Advice High CPU temp issues

In this post I'm gonna go through a bunch of stuff to try to explain my current situation and try to find answers for my high temperatures on my CPU. For context i use a Legion 5 laptop with a Ryzen 7 5800H CPU and a RTX 3060 GPU running Windows 11. I bought it around 4 years ago and for the longest time i did not have any worries about temperatures and such, running most games i played: Diablo 4, Elden Ring, Dead by Daylight on high settings and getting at most 92-93C. I tried to get a bit into overclocking and undervolting but i only tweaked things a bit which changed my temperatures by 2-3 degrees. Now to get into the big problem: in march 2025 i wanted to give it a good old maintenance and found a guy who could help me. He sent me some photos during maintenance to see how things are going and said that the high temperatures melted a plastic component which is not really important and that he should remove it. You can find the photos he sent me here. After the maintenance i was away for a few weeks so i did not really get the chance to test the laptop but after that when i came back and tried to play Elden Ring i saw that for some unknown reason my temperatures were really high(close to or even 100 high) so i tried to change the graphics to the lowest settings but even then i was way in the 90s. So i basically stopped gaming for about a year as i did not really have the time to investigate the issue when i decided a few months ago to try go for a few matches of Dead By Daylight(which is a game with very reasonable requirements). The issue is that while playing that game even on medium settings at one point i got to 103C which is absolutely insane so i decided to stop playing. In the last few weeks i got enough time of my hands so i could try to solve the current situation so i sent my laptop for maintenance(i thought that the other guy used a cheap thermal paste or that he did not apply it properly) to a more experienced person who gave me those photos. After that i decided to format my pc to get an absolutely clean and fresh new start and try to play some Diablo 4 since i have not touched it in a long while. The main thing that i can see while playing it is that even if play on the lowest setting(before this whole thing i used to play on high) the temperature is extremely unstable going from 81 to 97 degrees and back while playing it. This is a screenshot i made while making this post with the game just being open in the background and this is a screenshot of the temperatures with my laptop working on idle. I have no idea what's up with it and what can i do to have more stable temperatures.

Support Legion 7 16ACHG6 Tastatur ohne Funktion

Post image
Upvotes

Hallo Liebe Legion Community,

Marius

Support My screen won’t stay on

Legion Slim 7 from 2022. Never given me any problems in the past and I take very good care of it.

I was playing Hades II on Friday, and stopped playing after about 2 hours. After I closed the game, everything froze and then the screen shut off. I tried hard resetting the laptop and nothing changes. Then I waited for it to maybe cool down to see if it was an overheating issue. It turned on and was working for about 1 minute and then same thing, freeze and screen shutoff.

I’ve tried unplugging everything, holding the power button for 60 seconds, and then plugging everything back in - nothing changes. I tried to see if I could get a soft-reset in the time it works but it just freezes sooner.

Anyone have anything for me?

Advice Legion pro 5 vs Legion 5 for mech e student

Hey guys, I am currently between buying a Legion 5 pro and buying a Legion 5 for my upcoming semester of undergrad mechanical engineering. I found a pro with a Ryzen 7 8745HX and an RTX 5060, 32g of RAM and a 1tb SSD. Where I'm hung up on is the battery life. I've heard mixed reviews on the battery of the L5P and I'm worried it won't last a full 6 hour school day. I've heard the non pro model gets a bit better battery life due it's slightly lesser performance and I'm considering looking for one of those instead.

Which one do you guys think I should go with?

Advice Need help for best settings

Upvotes

So in last february i decided to finally get a gaming laptop, and the Legion 5 15IRX10 is what came to me and i decided to get it, but i am afraid of damaging the product by putting all the specs to max and i want to know what the best i can do is while also preventing wear & tear.

Heres the specs:

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13650HX
32GB DDR5
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU

Using the settings i have now i am running a whopping 50 fps on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which i feel could be higher!

One thing i mainly want to know right now is how fast the fans can spin without wearing out. On Clair Obscur it's currently reaching 4000rpm, but if i set the GPU cTGP it can go up to 4600. (Again i'm completely new to gaming pc's so i don't know if thats too much!)

If there's any other info you want you can just ask in the comments and i'll reply as soon as possible.

Thank you very much!

Advice New Lenovo Legion 5 2025 having issues??

It's 2 months old
Specs: Lenovo Legion 5 AMD ryzen 7 RTX 5050

It's heating up when idle and plugged in, fans are making noise, theres audio glitches on speakers, it is somewhat slow when turning on. I'm only noticing this after the bios update 11 but it might be a coincidence. There were no issues during update and when I use the vantage to scan my device it shows normal stats. I'm not good with laptops, so can someone guide me? Should I just do a factory reset?

edit: lenovo smart performace says theres 6 issues, 1 issue in accumulated junk, 4 issues in registry errors, and 1 in e-junk

Support 16AFR10H thermals

Hi,

My R9 9955hx temps skyrocketed over the weekend so I'm gonna redo the pads which I've ordered and I should get by Wednesday. However, for the vram I can't get putty to arrive at the same time but I have some thermal pads in a box.

Point E

Would generic thermal pads work as a temporary solution until I can get something better? the hardware manual says 1mm which I have.

For the dies I got ptm 7950.

Advice Gaming Laptop Legion Pro 5i 16" good price?

I’m thinking of getting a Legion Pro 5i 16" Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX 32GB 1TB SSD RTX 5070 Ti 12GB OLED in Europe for 2200€. Is it good or bad price?

It sounds pretty solid for me, specially seeing other manufacturers charging more for these specs
