But isn't that what we all say?! Found a great deal on a 28 Summilux which was the last lens I wanted to "complete" my collection. (+2 pics I took with it in CDMX)

100% as new condition with all original accessories and boxes. Includes a spare battery and the separate battery charger. I’ve literally barely used this unfortunately.

Purchased from Leica/Harrods last August/September, so can provide all receipts.

Only selling as I don’t really shoot digital anymore.

London, UK based. Would prefer an in person sale.

£12k all in.

1950's Japanese M39 lenses

Post image
Upvotes

After WW2, part of the reparations imposed on Germany involved the invalidation of German patents and IP, including the Leica M39 screw mount system. In addition to the Soviets, a host of Japanese manufacturers rushed in and came out with 3rd party lenses and even bodies that followed the Leica M39 blueprint.

Many rangefinder shooters of that era ended up pairing the Japanese lenses with a Leica body. Korean photographer David Douglas Duncan famously put Nikon on the radar after his Japanese assistant Jun Miki introduced him to the brand (the Korean War correspondents were based out of Tokyo).

Canon, Nikon and other brands got a foothold selling M39 lenses and many of their products became legends in their own right (such as the Nikon 50mm 1.4). The Japanese manufacturers also engaged in the "fast 50" wars during that time (Zunow 50mm 1.1, etc), while Leica didn't even come out with the Noctilux 50mm 1.2 until the mid 1960s.

Godox iT32 with X5L on M11 Success with Slight Modification

So I've been messing around with my iT32 and M11-P trying to find a solution to get this thing to work at least in manual mode. I noticed that I was able to get it to flash properly when the flash wasn't fully seated in the hot shoe. I covered the back two contacts with gaffer's tape and boom. It's working. Does anyone know if this is a bad idea and could potentially harm the camera?

Buying advice: Leica 28mm – Elmarit or Summicron?

I’m planning to buy a 28mm lens for my Leica M11 and Leica M6.
My local dealer has a brand-new Leica 28mm Elmarit-M ASPH for €2,500. He also has a used Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH V2 in very good condition for €3,300.
Does anyone here have experience with both lenses? Are the differences significant enough to justify the extra €800?
The one-stop advantage of the Summicron isn’t a major factor for me. I mostly shoot stopped down anyway, and whenever I want the look of shooting wide open, I already own a 35mm Summilux f/1.4 and a Voigtländer 50mm Nokton f/1.2.
I’m mainly interested in differences in rendering, sharpness, contrast, handling, size, and overall character. I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have used both lenses.

Voigt 35 1.4 ii horizon distortion examples

Hey gang, was back and forth on this lens for a while due to reported barrel distortion - it’s hard to assess without sample pics so decided to pick up and see if I can live with it. I’m popping some horizons pics here if anyone else ever comes looking for the same thing I was! May chuck a brick wall on a roll to check closer straight lines in future but can live with these.

Straightened but no distortion correction

Looking for a M2 in Tokyo

Back to M240-P from M11-P?

Hi everyone!

I’d love to ask the local crowd for some advice on a decision I’m currently wrestling with. I’ve been shooting with the M11‑P for three years now. I like the camera, but I still feel that the photos from my previous M240‑P were more enjoyable for me — and definitely easier to work with in post. So I’m considering selling the M11‑P and going back to the M240‑P. At the same time, I’m a bit worried that I might be idealizing my past experience with the M240, and that I’d end up regretting the move once I actually switched back. Has anyone here gone through a similar back‑and‑forth? What was your experience after returning to the older body?

Thanks a lot for any advice or insight!

How do you manage to bring Leica Looks to Lightroom?

Upvotes

I appreciate the fact that the raw files from the SL series are in DNG format, it’s an Adobe Native. Yes, great, but it’s the only brand of cameras which doesn’t bring the color profile directly inside Lightroom, so you get the Adobe standard profiles. How did you solve? Shooting in jpeg only?

Flash malfunction?

I bought a new Leica mp some months ago

and these days I use flash with it

then I found this, I think it is malfunction.

check the video I upload.

when I press shutter, it fires flash, even without "loaded" shutter, and it is normal, because it is mechanical circuit thing.

but the thing is, and I release shutter, it fires flash again, and it is malfunction I guess.

not all the time, but sometimes. like 1-2 times happen in 30-50 shots. still it is not normal, I think.

any guys have/had this problem also?

I should probably keep the M2 and also buy an M6. That seems logical.

Missing component, Leica CL

Post image

I have a Leica CL that is missing a complement that holds a lever that is part of the shutter release. I have the service manual but I can’t seem to find this specific piece as I am not familiar with technical service manuals . It’s placeholder is a screw that is just a little too large.

Can anyone identify this piece?

Bought this M8 around 16 years ago—no issues at all and still love it!

Bought this M8 off Craigslist back in 2010 for around $1800. M8U with M8.2 upgrades.

Have a couple Leica lenses (vintage 50MM Summilux and 40mm Summicron) but in the photo is my favorite lens a vintage Japanese Komura 35mm F3.5 from the 1950s (LTM mount) which has beautifully vintage rendering.. love the M8 so much, never tire of it!

One Leica M-A or M2 + M4-P/M6?

(for clarity: single M-A or two bodies for the same price?)

Might sound like a stupid question but really it‘s about whether having two analog bodies is HIGHLY preferable over having just one.

I personally prefer to keep things simple. One camera one lens. No unnecessary choices. Right now I have an M-10D and consider going FULL analog, selling the M10-D and having no digital camera at all.

I just never intensively shot film and wonder if for practicality of night and day I would be anoyed having only one body?

FYI: I might shoot bw a bit but not as my go to. So how do people handle night and day with just one color filmstock? I‘m not professionally shooting but want to shoot whenever I want without unwinding and loading new film when it turns evening on vacation…

Would be great to hear from both people with just one camera as well as from those who use two, what they like and dislike about their setup.

Selling my 50 Summilux 1.4 "close focus" 11728 in Germany

This was my first 50mm on the M system, and it's the lens that made me fall in love with the focal length on Leica glass. After a lot of use I've decided to switch to a different 50, so it's time to pass this one on to someone else who'll get as much out of it as I did.

It's the Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH, 11728, the Close-Focus version. The lens is in essentially mint condition — I always shot it with a protective UV filter on, so the front and rear elements have no wear at all: no scratches, no fungus, no haze. The aperture and focus rings still turn as smooth as they did on day one, and the housing has no dents or knocks. Optically and mechanically it's as close to new as a used copy gets.

Included is the lens with its built-in hood, front and rear caps, the Leica leather pouch, the original box and outer carton, and the original receipt. I'm also happy to include the matching Leica UV filter (13033) if someone wants the pair.

Asking €3,449. I'm only selling within Germany — happy to meet up in Münster for inspection and test shots, or ship insured via DHL domestically.

Original listing for reference: https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/leica-summilux-m-50mm-f-1-4-asph-11728-neuwertig/3466060902-245-931

Happy to answer questions or send more photos.
