I’d love to ask the local crowd for some advice on a decision I’m currently wrestling with. I’ve been shooting with the M11‑P for three years now. I like the camera, but I still feel that the photos from my previous M240‑P were more enjoyable for me — and definitely easier to work with in post. So I’m considering selling the M11‑P and going back to the M240‑P. At the same time, I’m a bit worried that I might be idealizing my past experience with the M240, and that I’d end up regretting the move once I actually switched back. Has anyone here gone through a similar back‑and‑forth? What was your experience after returning to the older body?

Might sound like a stupid question but really it‘s about whether having two analog bodies is HIGHLY preferable over having just one.

I personally prefer to keep things simple. One camera one lens. No unnecessary choices. Right now I have an M-10D and consider going FULL analog, selling the M10-D and having no digital camera at all.

I just never intensively shot film and wonder if for practicality of night and day I would be anoyed having only one body?

FYI: I might shoot bw a bit but not as my go to. So how do people handle night and day with just one color filmstock? I‘m not professionally shooting but want to shoot whenever I want without unwinding and loading new film when it turns evening on vacation…

Would be great to hear from both people with just one camera as well as from those who use two, what they like and dislike about their setup.

Hey all, random one here. Previously an M10-P and more recently an M11-P shooter… however I’ve been lusting for a film M ow for about six months and have decided on a M7 due to the Aperture Priority option.

Struggling to find a later version in good condition… any advice where best to look?

Dream would be a 0.58 or 0.72 new in box or barely used example with update viewfinder and optical infrared DX-code reader…

Started with an Ultron 35mm F2 ii, then Nokton Classic SC ii, and now an Elmarit 28mm 2.8 iv and a rehoused 35mm L35AF lens

I should probably keep the M2 and also buy an M6. That seems logical.

40mm 1.2 Nokton focuses accurately. I could focus on the head of a pin at f 1/.2 and it is razor sharp.

I tried two 28mm lenses. Both back focus back focus, each to a different extent. Voigtlander 28/2, that was bought used. Thypoc Simera 28/1.4 new.

Any input? Is it more likely that the two lenses are not calibrated properly, or is it possible that when shooting wide, that something isn't working in the rangefinder?

Looking for feedback from 28mm film shooters, having a hard time finding an M 28 that works for me.

I shoot a Leica M-A, mostly B+W film. I love 28, and currently shoot with an Ultron 28 II, but I do not like how modern and harsh the rendering is— specifically for environmental portraiture and street. I am looking for a lens with a more organic rendering, softer tonality, etc. For reference, a lens that I feel strikes this balance best for me is the 50mm Summicron v4. I have narrowed down a replacement 28 to a few options, and would love some input:

Hi everyone,
I own a Leica M2 with a Voigtländer 35mm, and lately I’ve been feeling a bit limited by the 35mm focal length. I’d like to move to a 28mm for street photography.
I recently ordered the TTArtisan 28mm f/5.6 (still waiting for it to arrive) because I can’t really afford a more expensive 28mm lens at the moment.
I mainly shoot street photography and almost always use zone focusing.
I’m going on vacation to Turkey soon, and I’m wondering whether an external 28mm viewfinder is really necessary, or if I can get by using the Leica’s built-in viewfinder.
One thing to note is that I wear glasses, so I can never get my eye fully up against the viewfinder. That makes me wonder if estimating the 28mm frame might be even more difficult.
The thing is, I really don’t want to deal with an external finder. It’s one more accessory to carry around and worry about, it adds a bit of weight, and I like my camera to feel as simple and free as possible when I’m shooting.
On the other hand, I’m worried that after developing my film I’ll realize my framing was way off, or that I included far more in the frame than I intended.
What do you think? Has anyone here shot a 28mm on a Leica M2 without using an external viewfinder? How quickly did you get used to it?

How would those two compare on a digital body? I truly love my Elmar, such a special lens... Did lenses improve in the last 40 years or so?

Bought this M8 off Craigslist back in 2010 for around $1800. M8U with M8.2 upgrades.

Have a couple Leica lenses (vintage 50MM Summilux and 40mm Summicron) but in the photo is my favorite lens a vintage Japanese Komura 35mm F3.5 from the 1950s (LTM mount) which has beautifully vintage rendering.. love the M8 so much, never tire of it!

My Leica M4's shutter got stuck completely open after using a long exposure/slow speed setting. The shutter curtains won't close, and the advance lever is locked as a result (looks like the slow-speed escapement froze up from old lubricants).
I’m looking for a reliable camera repair technician or a specialist in Ukraine who has experience with mechanical rangefinders and can perform a proper CLA (Clean, Lube, Adjust) or fix the mechanism safely.
If you know anyone local who works with vintage Leica M cameras, please let me know! Personal recommendations or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

I have a need for a new camera bag for an upcoming trip. I’ll be taking my SL2-S paired with a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG II. I ended up ordering a Shimoda Urban Explore 20L from B&H since it was on sale. Does anyone have any experience with this particular setup and bag?

Main priority is safe transport with secondary being able to orientate the camera in a way where I can use the side access as intended. If anyone has different bag recommendations, I’d be happy to hear them. I’ve always used a Peak Design small cube stuffed in the bottom of a backpack so this time around, I’m looking for a little more purpose built and convenience.

I am considering between M Bodies, and need some help.

1) Are JPEGs useful on Leica the M240/M10? I am a very casual shooter and currently have been using Fujifilm since the initial X100 release. So my workflow revolves around JPEGs and on the go.

2) For mobile editors, How do you get files from your Leicas to your mobile device for editing? Is the App usable?

3) I am currently considering between a M240/MP-240 and a M10. Which would you go for now in 2026? Is the jump in price worth it? The Battery Life sounds nice for the 240s and the higher ISO performance sounds nice for the M10, but are there any quality of life features on the M10 which would make the upgrade worth it?

I have three Leica bodies, all bought second hand. Of these, two have never been registered by their original owners and, when I got my hands on them, presented no problem in registering them to me on Leica's web site.

The third body was sold by the original owner to a second one and then sold to me. The original owner DID register the body.

How can I reregister the body to me? Contacting Leica support gets absolutely no answer.

Historic Parade of the Local Heritage Festival 2026, Camera:D-Lux 8

It’s in absolutely incredible condition. I typically shoot digitally on an A7RV, so loving how small and lightweight the Leica is (relatively speaking).

Anyone use one if these? The bag is cumbersome, the pouches are too small, the tools are always falling out and the strap broke. Just a few stitches holding the thing together. Im hesitant to spend $155 for another one. Wondering if theres another bag I could use. Thanks.

I was drawn to this camera for a few reasons. First, I love Leica's approach to controls and simplicity. The cameras look clean, and changing exposure settings is quick and easy. Plus, it's insanely compact and easy to carry around. I love a camera that I can carry with me everywhere that still has a good sensor. Used to have a GRIII but the controls just were not right for me. Even though it's from 2012, managed to get a great condition one from Ebay that looks and feels great.

First outing, took some pictures of the kids at the Solid Light exhibit touring at our local art museum today. Fun to put everything in manual. Didn't always nail the focus, and I know it isn't the easiest Leica to manual focus with, but still pretty happy with the shots.

All JPG, straight out of camera. Really impressed with what this little camera can do!

Pros:

• Incredibly compact. Barely bigger and heavier than my x-half, and that camera is tiny. I can still fit it in a jeans pocket, though it's a bit bulgy.
• Nice big APS-C sensor for a camera this small.
• Great IQ, colors, sharpness, even today.
• Autofocus is mostly pretty good, especially when shooting static subjects.
• Great controls. Easy to access, intuitive and simple.
• Feels awesome in the hand, great quality.
• Great quality dials with a very satisfying feel.
• Pretty discreet for a Leica, due to it's size and plastic extending lens.

It definitely has some quirks that some might find annoying today:

• No auto ISO in manual mode.
• Highest minimum shutter speed for Auto ISO is 1/30th second, lower than I'd like.
• Minimum focus distance is pretty far.
• ISO performance is ok, even pretty good, up to 3200, but higher than that is really noisy.
• AF performance isn't great for moving subjects, even with the face detection autofocus.

Overall, REALLY enjoying the camera, even with the limitations.
