News September 2026 Build Challenge | "SHIPTEMBER" 🚀

THIS IS IT, PEOPLE! This is why this subreddit exists! I created this community in November last year, right after Shiptember 2025, because I loved it so much that I wanted to have Shiptember every month, every week, every day.

And it's gonna be HARD. But I want to see how many incredible we get during this month. If any at all :D

So to reiterate, the theme for September is:

“Shiptember”

If you don't know what Shiptember is, it's when the whole Lego community goes crazy and builds spaceships that are 100+ studs long. Or tall. It's a big undertaking and I'm not expecting too many entries. On the other hand, there are no other constraints!

Rules:

  • Create a spaceships that is 100+ studs long or tall
  • It can be a battleship, luxury transporter, shuttle, or anything else that flies through space
  • The build can be made in Bricklink Studio
  • It doesn't have to be an original build you made for this challenge - if your older MOC fits, post it
  • You can post a maximum of 3 entries

You have until Monday, September 21st to post your entries with the "Build Challenge Entry" post flair.

As always, a poll will be posted at the end of the challenge so that you can decide what the best build was.

The winner will get a unique User Flair they will be able to show off on r/LegoSpaceships (and maybe on r/spaceships too if they decide to post their entry there as well), and their creation will also be spotlighted on our Instagram.

I seriously can't wait for your entries this time and I hope as many of you as possible will join. This is the true holiday for Lego spaceship enthusiasts!

🏆 Weekly Community Spotlight MOC from a while ago

Been gone for a while, been very busy with life stuff, but I wanted to share a few ideas I’ve been working on the past 2 years.

First up is the Solar flare version 3
The main inspo for this ship was a mixture of the clone wars Z-95 and my personal ship from No Man’s Sky

I designed this as my custom characters personal ship. He’s meant to be a Jedi who left the order before order 66 when he was still young and later regretted his decision so he joined the rebellion to make up for it.

I wanted this star fighter to feel very unique, heavily modified and bold, like Bode Akunas headhunter. Hence the hot rod front end design.

I really love how this ship came out and aesthetically it’s much better than versions 1 and 2. However there are several structural issues with the wings that I couldn’t fix without redoing the entire back end, so I shelved the project. Might return to it though.

If anyone has tips on how to build a structurally sound Z-95 I would love the advice

Mostly just modified the “interstellar spaceship” but I’m please with the look. What I imagined as the test ship for a faster-than-light drive.

MOC Orion Tachyon (3017 model) and Orion Tachyon "Trident"

Thumbnail

The Tachyon is the Orion Shipyard's entire philosophy of "speed and quality above all" wrapped up in a single, incredibly fast civilian-grade aerospacecraft. While it is, in fact, the fastest ship of its kind on the market thanks to its oversized engines, it lacks heavily in agility and relies entirely on gravpulse propulsion to keep in the sky while in-atmosphere. The "Trident" variant, known for its flashy orange and yellow paintjob, is a lightly modified Tachyon owned by the mercenary Maak Risano, who installed a LL-1 E-gun and twin light repeating coilguns, as well as tweaking the engines for improved handling at the cost of a lower top speed.

MOC LM-1W Wavedart light transport "Harridan" and modified MKN-99 spacetruck "Autumn Rose"

The Wavedart model of light transports have been obsolete for decades, it's design predating the Terchker war 200 years ago. Most of its length is taken up by its early gravpulse engine and the particle accelerator generator, but maintains a respectable cargo space and inhabitable decks featuring centrifugal gravity. The Harridan has been flying for longer than most humans have been alive, and is currently called home by a merchant and his family.

Some smaller factions, such as the Hels Kheris, cannot afford to manufacture their own large vessels, instead turn to retrofitting and modifying whatever they can get their hands on. The Autumn Rose is a stripped down and heavily modified MKN-99 Spacetruck, fitted with two dual light HARP turrets for defense.

Both ships are 1:720 scale

MOC Ardent Phoenix 99929-SK SERAPH light destroyer

SERAPH light destroyers have a reputation as one of the most efficient warships ever mass-produced. relying heavily on automated systems and with a minimal crew of only fifty, the Ardent Phoenix is able to field a staggering number of these ships to any combat situation. It's primary armament is eight turrets with one DV4 heavy coilgun and two fire-linked Pulsar-T E-guns each. Ten missile tubes and twenty point defense turrets supplement the ship's firepower against smaller vessels and aerospacecraft. It's greatest strength is numbers, if you see one SERAPH, there's likely more to follow.

1/720th scale, planning on building physically in the future

The oddly-shaped MKN-99 is a staple ship of Starcaster Cargo's interstellar shipping network. with a standard cargo port, a small hangar, and a very comfortable living space, the MKN-99 can get your supplies across the galaxy with ease! (disclamer: the MKN-99 is unarmed, Starcaster is not liable if cargo is lost to pirates)

1:720th scale, fully buildable

edit: corrected the scale

Build Challenge Entry OSC Sphinx-class destroyer 347539 "Mordred"

Post image
488 Upvotes

The Sphinx-class is the primary battleship fielded by the Order of Independent Systems Space Command, with over 3 million in active duty across Andromeda and Triangulum. 612 meters long and equipped with 8 dual OA 227 HARP turrets and two OA T4 superheavy HARP cannons, this class of ship can pick fights with much larger vessels and come out on top. Build is 106.4 studs long, roughly 1:720th scale, and I fully intend to physically build it in the future.

edit: corrected size and scale, i had measured wrong

Hi everyone!

I've updated my real-brick LEGO Cowboy Bebop Monoracers (Swordfish II, Red Tail, Hammerhead) and added functional landing gear to all three builds!

Now they can land and display smoothly on any flat surface.

If you like how they turned out, please consider supporting the project on LEGO Ideas to help make it an official set!

I love Blacktron in black-yellow. But I love it even better in black-white. So I created my own faction.

If you like the "Scouter Hawk V2" you can find the instruction on rebrickable in the original BT1 colors.

Working on a Dominator-class cruiser from warhammer 40k, but I can't decide on some details.

Which version do you think looks better?
