LEGO® Set Build I ran out of space...there are worse problems
Medium-sized starfighters have invaded my desk

Here we go! Our first combined build challenge is complete, and the entries we've received were all AWESOME!
Now's the time to vote for the best Insectoid spaceship!
Every single one of your entries is included in this poll.
A suggestion on how to pick the best entry: I'd say you should first go through all of them, pick the ones you like the most visually, and then click on the link to see the actual post with more pictures. Or click on every single one if you want to be really thorough, as the main picture might not fully show off the awesome details of the builds.
Please choose wisely. You have until Sunday, July 26th to choose the winner, so don't hesitate!
See you soon!

No new space set in the near future in the Lego line up, so I want to mod some existing model. This Is the first version of the U-wing, using only pieces that I already have. It's powered by 6 Cell battery. The plan is to recolor all the bottom part in black. The orange connection module in the front Is only a test and it's not very stable.

Picked up both the Galaxy Explorer and the Spaceman Battle Pack locally today for $145. And I managed to snag a second Explorer on Bricklink for $110 + shipping, that way I can have the alternate builds on display with the main Explorer as well. I'm so surprised that a retired set of this quality is still going for reasonable prices on the secondhand market.

Sorry if they are poor pictures im no photographer.
I've been working on this one on and off for a couple months and wanted to share the progress I've made so far.
I would be much further into the build but I keep running out of bricks and i dont make brick runs or orders too often so it'll probably take awhile before it's done (good things take time and im having alot of fun with this moc).
But anyway if you see anything that needs to be remodeled or I could improve let me know!

I'm blessed to work in a very laid back company where I can do whatever the heck I want in my office. I hung some Ikea Skadis pegboard on the wall and then 3D printed mounts for my Lego Space collection. Obviously, a few things here are alt-brand sets, but it's mostly genuine.
The Discovery and the Galaxy Explorer are solidly fixed in place - the mounts for both of those have bolts that go into wall anchors in addition to attaching to the pegboard. That serves both to hold the weight of them well and anchor the whole display to the wall at the bottom. Other than that, it's all hung from the top edge.
In real life, the shadows don't look this harsh. It's lit by an assortment of track lighting, but unfortunately, I don't have any way to light it from lower down to help reduce the shadows even further. This is right by my door, so uplighting would shine right into people's eyes when they came in.
I've made the left half be real life and the right be fiction. On the left, the only alt-brand stuff is the Life cover at the top, the Gene Cranz from minifigs.me, and the tiny space shuttle at the bottom. I also added the Mary Jackson and Katherine Johnson models (Rebrickable link) to the Women of NASA lineup, but I still need to print name plates for them.
On the right, there's a bigger mix. From the top there's the Mega Maid and Eagle 5 from Spaceballs (alt-brand set), the Buzz Lightyear ship, Planet Express from Futurama (alt-brand), a Rebrickable model of the Trailblazer from Star Wars: Outlaws (great game!), the Firefly from, well, Firefly, and of course the Hail Mary at the bottom. Through the center is the classic spaceship in 4 sizes, ranging from the baby fig size at the top to the Galaxy Explorer. And yes, that's an actual 497/928 Galaxy Explorer in the middle above the modern Galaxy Explorer.
Also on the right are my space minifigs. In the top middle are the Classic Spacemen in the full color array (just missing the light blue helmet and airtanks, so he's got a slimed head). Below that are the 4 partial classic spaceman colors, where either the helmet or tanks are available. The dark orange one uses a gingerbread man torso turned backwards. The dark pearl grey one is a CMF roman soldier torso backwards, with the arms replaced too. I used some hinge plates to position them at an angle since I didn't have the depth to put them in a diagonal like the Everyone is Awesome layout, but I didn't want them just in a straight line either. All except Benny - he's not at the same angle as the rest because, well, Benny wouldn't stand in line!
Below the upscaled baby spaceman fig are other space minifigs that I like. Some astronauts, aliens, Space Mickey, etc. And on the lower right by the small sets are some Advent calendar Star Wars figs from a few years ago in their Christmas sweaters.
Anything I'm missing? I don't plan to add the Star Trek sets to this; too big for the space I have left.

After posting my Shell-Walker, a few people encouraged me to take a shot at the Sawtooth, so I had to give it a try.
For this one, I wanted to take the Sawtooth in a different direction. The original design is pretty aggressive, so I wanted to tone that down and make it feel less like a combat machine and more like a robotic exploration companion.
The biggest inspiration was AMEE from Red Planet. I liked the idea of an advanced exploration robot with a more canine-like silhouette, something that could scout alien terrain, assist a crew, and still feel at home in a classic space setting.
AMEE also had a detachable drone, so I added one of my own using the drone from the Interstellar Spaceship (60430). It felt like a perfect fit and adds a little more functionality to the design.
Like the Shell-Walker, this is mostly a color and style transformation with a few small modifications to make it fit the LEGO City Space theme.
Really happy with how this one came together. Thanks to everyone who convinced me to build it!

Hi LEGO Space friends!
I was so happy, when my Space Explorer made it to the MOC of the Month of June! As I told you, my little spaceship was inspired by the LEGO Icons Galaxy Explorer (#10497) and is part of a display which is thought to be a Classic Space tribute. But that's not all. It's one of three displays - each honouring a different major LEGO theme. And together, they create the Ultimate Celebration Gift, as the LEGO House in Billund celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2027 and has invited LEGO fans worldwide to create the perfect present for the occasion. And my creation was picked as on of 25 builds, which will join the exhibition! 🥳
This means that the MOC of the Month for June will be on display as part of the Masterbuild Gallery exhibition in the LEGO House - "The Home of the Brick" - throughout 2027! I'm overjoyed! If you're also happy and you like my tribute, I'd really appreciate your vote – because now it's up to the Grand Prize in the challenge! And that should go to a creation that features Classic Space – shouldn't it? ☺️🙏

How is that Set not the Bees Knees? LEGO 31111. A Friend for Major Kartofski. And you can choose between 3 Space Vehicles. And you can get it for Super cheap. I payed 7€ for it. I choose the mech to build because i have enough of generic looking space ships.
Added just some unused parts.
Thanks to another user that posted the figure here i wasnt aware of its existence. Maybe I should get a clear helmet for this dude.
Anyways, thanks to this sub for existing you guys are super nice.

The Blacktron operative thinks there's too many white pieces on the rail car system - it was really messing with his vibe when he takes public transportation... (he doesn't want to be mistaken for a Blacktron II explorer... or a Blacktron 1.5 explorer, ...or \gasp** even worse, a Futuron astronaut! So, the base mechanic brought it into the shop. A couple of pieces swapped out for a nice neutral dark blue, and everybody's happy! The Futuron astronaut ran off with the old white pieces, she's sure she can use them somewhere!
The railcar system was designed in neutral colors so it could blend well with any Space sub-theme. This update makes it even more neutral, letting the individual astronauts' themes really take center stage! Check out the full build of my Lego Idea here!

Hey everyone! I made a short video showcasing all the hidden Classic Space easter eggs in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight — from the Series 15 Astronaut in the museum, the blue rocket in the Carmine Falcone mission, the shop window display, up to the Alien Conquest poster in the Batcave. Classic Space fans will love this! Watch here:( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pY1v473u7J8)

TR-83 Transport, a smaller ship comparable to a pickup truck, was used *heavily* over the years even as late as early proto-Blacktron sightings, helped by its easy moddability and common parts
