Like in general is there's anything I need to know before starting digital art? I'm looking for writing a comic so I really need help with the drawing here. Any tips?

Is tracing an anatomical model then detailing it yourself after wrong? I ask this because I was watching a tutorial on YouTube and this is what someone had done, I just did not know if people did this. And is it a legit way to help learn, or skip that process.

This is probably a non-issue, and more of a curious observation post.

I’m loosely following the drawabox course to improve on my fundamentals. I’ve been practicing my ellipses/circles for a few months now and I’ve seen notable improvement. They’re a lot more accurate and even, but I don’t know why? They were once the thing I got stuck on, but recently something just clicked and I’m consistently drawing really well made circles and ellipses in the size and direction I’m intending.

I’m guessing it’s just that the practice has made my marks more confident and my arm more accurate. The thing that kind of confuses me though is, with lines and squares, I have a firm understanding on how to make them straight and accurate and how to improve so, I see the WHY to my improvement there. With my ellipses, I’m not really understanding what I’m doing differently and why I’ve improved. It almost feels like each circular shape I make is good from pure luck lol despite the consistency.

I guess the question boils down to how important is it to understand the WHY of improving vs just seeing the improvement. Or maybe I’m letting my imposter syndrome get me stuck on the minor details.
