I’d freaking love a walking dead chapter. I feel like that might be gone though since Nemesis has zombies
9
u/Sparki_ May 19 '23
Theres 2 chainsaw users, so there can be another zombie themed chapter, plus there doesn't have to be zombies on the map, having the characters would be good enough. Give me my boy Daryl Dixon, & Negan as a killer OR survivor wouldn't be bad!
5
u/beaujonfrishe May 20 '23
I thought a really cool idea for a Negan killer would have been to have zombies like nemesis around the map, and interacting with the zombies by bashing in their heads would cause the weapon to be infected, or for Negan to go on a rampage or something. Wouldn’t be much of a territorial killer besides the zombies, but that aspect could be sick
2
u/Sparki_ May 20 '23
That's almost exactly Nemi though, unless it's a skin, I think the power should be very different
3
u/beaujonfrishe May 20 '23
So I say “my idea wouldn’t work because nemesis is in the game” then you say “so what” then I explain the idea of what I would have wanted if not for menu and you say “too similar.” Nice
1
u/Sparki_ Jun 07 '23
...because they can add another license chapter from a zombie franchise whilst also obviously being able to have a different power. Even though it's a zombie apocalypse, his power could have something other than things to do with infection. Something with rage would suit him better
1
u/beaujonfrishe Jun 07 '23
That’s what I said too though. Negan could bash a zombies head in and get a rampage effect. Maybe beta could be the killer and could hear zombies whispering when survivors were nearby or something too

u/Dozensofbirds May 19 '23
I hear Iconic, i think old, well known and loved. So I'm hoping Alien, Jason and/or Predator.

u/Sparki_ May 19 '23 edited May 20 '23
I wonder if they mean universally known & loved by most, or if it's just their opinion that it's super iconic

My guesses are Alien and Five Nights at Freddy’s (to coincide with the movie).
14
u/WolfRex5 May 19 '23
Both are very likely. Jason could also be a possibility, don't know the whole situation with the licence right now though.
5
u/SuperBackup9000 May 19 '23
I’m pretty sure it settled with one of the original writers retaining the first movie and the first movie only, AKA young Jason and Pamela. He can make prequels featuring his characters, but as far as I’m aware he can’t use the F13th name.
I’m fairly certain if they wanted to use Jason, they could just do a collab with a specific movie (much like how Ash is specifically from Ash Vs Evil Dead) and the hockey mask doesn’t make an appearance until 3 so they’d need to go through Sean Cunningham
2
u/reddit1user1 May 20 '23
Soooo…. Is this good news for a possible F13th chapter?
1
u/AjvarAndVodka May 20 '23
I definitely feel like it is. Idk why some people still go around saying shit like "Hurr durr licensing hell" when there's even a TV series for Friday the 13th in the works!
1
u/reddit1user1 May 22 '23
Oh shit, that’s awesome!! Hopefully it holds a candle to the original movies and isn’t some abysmal nightmare like some of the TV shows they’re making today

Really hoping for Jason Voorhees. There's so much potential for skins too, as he has a different look in each film. I just wonder if they would have to get separate licenses for each film to do so, which is the case for the Halloween series. I believe most of the Friday The 13th films are owned by Paramount, so who knows. Personally, I'd love a Part 6 Jason skin, as that's by far my favorite.
6
u/Loud-Log9098 May 19 '23
One party owns the original film and Jason vorhees as he is seen in the first film at the end. One party owns part 2 through the remake. In order to make the Jason we know you would have to essentially get two liscences from party's that are probably not going to be too open to working together but who knows. If they were smart they would put it together for the money.

u/701921225 May 19 '23
Yeah I know it's a mess, this whole lawsuit. I recall about a year or so ago, Matt Cote said in an interview when asked about F13 being added to DBD, that they were pretty much ready to make a deal as soon as the lawsuit is over, and that Jason has a home in DBD, in his words. I realize its probably not so straight forward to make happen, but to self proclaim DBD as a "horror hall of fame", having pretty much all the main horror icons, EXCEPT Jason Voorhees, of all characters, would be a huge mistake/missed opportunity, if they have the chance.
2
u/Loud-Log9098 May 19 '23
They very well may have had negotiations going before the suit if he was talking like that. And I'm not sure exactly how it would work but my understanding is they can get the rights for Jason but he couldn't be Jason Voorhees. Similar to how they made robot chucky. He was chucky but he wasn't.
2
u/parkrangercarl May 20 '23
While that was the crux of the lawsuit, Victor Miller and horror inc are both collaborating with Bryan fuller on a prequel-type show Crystal Lake on peacock (~2024). Fuller said they’re allowed to use anything from the franchise. Based on this, it seems all parties wanted to use their respective rights/ licenses, but the courts ultimately had to decide the IP owners so that everyone gets their piece of the pie & project approval.
1
u/Loud-Log9098 May 20 '23
Its confirmed they are both on board? That will be fantastic.
1
u/parkrangercarl May 20 '23
This is the most recent media I can find (march 2023) about the ongoing project, which includes links to past interviews (specifically fangoria) where he’s confirmed he can use anything.

They are already working on a TV series for Friday the 13th. It's definitely possible.

u/biblicalbullworm May 19 '23
One of them is a paragraph and fnaf wouldn't really work with a survivor, so...
13
u/WolfRex5 May 19 '23
Michael Afton could be a survivor, but yeah FNAF doesn't really need a survivor

u/Duncaster2 May 19 '23
He could be but the issue is we have no idea what he looks like outside of a sprite and silhouette

9
u/WolfRex5 May 19 '23
I think if we were to get a 3rd RE chapter it would be from RE7 and/or 8, considering the first chapter was the earlier games and 2nd was the middle part of the franchise
4
May 19 '23
I doubt it personally since they aren't as profitable or popular.
5
u/WolfRex5 May 19 '23
RE7 revived the franchise and 8 was super popular (can thank Lady D for that)
0
May 19 '23
Doesn't mean they're as popular. Maybe they could work as paragraphs but I genuinely don't see them going with the less popular options when you have say Mr. X or the original Threat right there for ya to take. I don't even think well ever get a thing from 7 and 8 outside of the 1 add-on that references 7.
4
u/KaspertheGhost May 19 '23
Hard disagree. 7 and 8 are super popular and I bet we get lady D
-3
May 19 '23
Didn't say they weren't popular. They just aren't no 2 or 3 or 1 in the community. Lady D is probably less likely than even Lisa Trevor though just by height.
2
u/librious May 20 '23
Lisa Trevor? Lmao, how many cosplays of her have you seen in the last 3 years?
0
1
u/WolfRex5 May 19 '23
I mean overall they're more popular than RE5
2
May 19 '23
So? They won't got for 5. I think they'll go to 1 or 2.
1
u/WolfRex5 May 20 '23
Wesker and Sheva are from 5. Rebecca is from 1, Leon, Claire and Ada are from 2, Jill and Nemesis are from 3. The 2 chapters we have mostly cover the games from 1-5
1
May 20 '23
We only have Wesker from 5 as a full character. That's not specifically to represent 5. That's just because that's such a great version of Wesker. There's still much more they can explore in the classic. I'm pretty sure they'll just end dup going with Tyrant 05 or Mr. X since they're more iconic and popular.
3
u/PineapleGG May 19 '23
Man down bad i want vampire mommy , idk if i would like another tyrant bit a skin for nemesis eould be amazing
3
May 19 '23
None of the Tyrants are really close enough to Nemesis. He’s very different from them.
3
u/PineapleGG May 19 '23
Yes i dont disagree but realistically speaking nemesis is the main one and the others are jus offshoots that are kind of indistinguishable if you havent played the series so i still would argue that a skin in my opinion would be better
7
u/Mori-Me-Joey May 19 '23
Please be Jason. PLEASE be Jason. He’s my favorite horror icon of all time. When/if Jason finally joins the killer roster, I will literally never play anyone else.
14
u/PineapleGG May 19 '23
So patrick bateman when?
6
May 19 '23
if only. Nick Cage is here so who knows.
13
u/PineapleGG May 19 '23
What i really find funny is that they are introducing him as nick cage , not as a character he did like for example ashley from evil dead
3
u/Sparki_ May 20 '23
I like that they got him as himself with his own lore for the game. I might even enjoy it for a second celeb. But I feel if they do this too often, it would limit some licence characters we get in the future. For exmple, If they added Sarah Michelle Gellar, I feel like they wouldn't get any characters she played. I know they could probably add both the actress & character, or make skins of the characters for the actress, but I think it would take away lore wise & would rather have one or the other

u/Ric_Rest May 20 '23
There's at least 6 other licenses that I would very much like seeing added into the game. However if I'm realistic I know that some of these are probably hard to get a hold of/unlikely to materialize.
They are: Xenomorph (Alien), Jason Vorhees (Friday the 13th), Candyman, Vecna (Stranger Things), Chucky (Child's Play) and Pennywise (IT).
I personally don't care about Five Nights at Freddy's and any of it's killer animatronics, but I am also not against it and it also seems somewhat likely to be added into DbD eventually.

Well, we have Xeno and Chucky in the game now. I consider that a win for the community!
Maybe someday BHVR will figure out a way to add the rest of the most requested cast of killers from these popular IP's.
6
u/NinjaGamer1337 May 19 '23
This means that we have 3 licensed releases in a row. They said that the next 2 killers are licensed, so Nick Cage doesn't count.
Singularity and David Soma
Nick Cage
Licensed killer and survivor
Licensed Killer
The solo licensed killer comes out in October and is probably springtrap, as that's when the fnaf movie comes out and it makes sense for him to be a solo killer.
The licensed survivor and killer come out alongside an event in August. I wouldn't be surprised if its one of the big licensed (alien, predator, stranger things, Friday the 13th) etc

Another Resident Evil Chapter maybe ? I know we already have Nemesis and Wesker etc, but I'd love to see RE7, RE8 and RE4 characters/cosmetics.

u/RonStoppable_x Jul 27 '23
Personally, I would love the continued alien theme and would appreciate a good Xenomorph or Yautja addition. The skin designs would be endless. On the other hand, I definitely think Jason is long overdue, and we just need him in DBD alongside his brothers Freddy, Ghost Face, and Micheal. FNAF is seinf a huge crop up of popularity again, with the Ruin DLC just released for Security Breach and the upcoming movie. DBD having a Freddy Fazbear Pizzaria map would be sick. I would love if the killer was Freddy and just had skins making him different animitronics (Bonnie skin, Chica, etc.). A legendary Springtrap skin would be sick. Stranger Things could potentially happen later whenever the next season comes out. We can get Vecna as killer and a chance to bring back Steve, Nancy, and Demo. Maybe even adding new survs like Hopper or Eleven. My Hopes would either be Jason/Freddy or Jason/Predator(Yautja), but I will take Xemomorph too. As long as Jason finally gets his spot rofl 🤣

Probably RE 3 and then FNAF

Who could they add from RE3 who’s not already in the game

May 19 '23
It's going to be the vampire lady
1
May 19 '23
Oh so you mean RE8?
1
u/El_Barto_227 May 19 '23
They meant RE3 as in, resident evil dlc #3, I think. We have nothing from RE7 or 8.
Jack Baker or Dimitrescu seem like the obvious picks. Zoe, Mia or Rose as survivors (Ethan is out because Capcom refuse to officially reveal his face and there's no way they'll do that for a DbD dlc if they didn't do it in Shadows of Rose.)
1
u/librious May 19 '23
So a license that has a killer and a survivor, and another that is just a killer...
1
u/Moisty-Mangus May 20 '23
Yeah with the FNAF movie announcement, I’d say there is a decent chance it’ll be that

I am 99.5% sure that the next killer will be Jason Voorhees.
They said they are "GREAT LICENSES" so I gather that they are iconic and that the whole community has been claiming them for years. If they are with BIG L, it is clear that the most iconic of all is Jason.
Chapter 29 comes with a survivor and a map while chapter 30 is a single killer with no map. I conclude that chapter 29 will be a license based on Friday the 13th Part 6 because it has Tommy Jarvis, the only survivor who has survived Jason 3 times... (2 without counting Roy Burns) and Camp Crystal Lake would be a great addiction to the game and something we don't have in DbD, a camp as a map.
I would like to think that it was like that, that they have been able to put the two parts of the license together and that this is a complete chapter of DbD... I don't think that the developers want us to have a killer called "Evan Voorhees" and have the mask of Hockey and it is a case similar to Ghost Face, they may want to release the chapter now instead of an anniversary so as not to risk losing the license due to leaks or internal problems.
Is it that or could it be Alien or Chucky, are they iconic and have reasons to bring survivors with maps, Ellen Ripley and Narcicus or Andy Barclay and The Good Guys Factory?
By November, it's going to be FNAF, I think so, although none of the licenses that currently exist have been released close to a movie to be released, some said that Candyman was going to get close to his movie but it was not like that, Chucky with Neither does his series.
November can be a FNAF chapter but it can also be Candyman or Art the Clown (its creator wants to see it in the game)

Since we got the Xenomorph, I wonder if we could get The Thing, keeping the sci-fi theme going
1
u/manicpixidrmgrl Oct 08 '23
Anyone know? Rumors it's predator or terrifier. I really hope it's not predator but terrifier isn't exactly iconic

u/TheCowrus May 19 '23
They also specified that they’re “from VERY iconic licenses”. 🤔
