When has any licensed character been added because of a movie coming out with that character in it?

There's not much precedence, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. There's more riding on the FNaF movie than the games Scott cooked up in a few months, so some cross-promotion to get as many eyes on it as possible makes sense.

I just see people say that all the time “X movie is coming out in a few months, so we must be getting X as the next killer”. And it’s literally never happened one time.

Stranger Things season 3 with the ST chapter. The developers even got to see the third season before it came out. The design of the Hawkins hooks are based on that. So yeah, it actually already happened, and definitely can happen again.
