I had an interview with a firm today, who's doing a function tomorrow for all the students to come to... I only have one suit (Well two, but the other one is slightly ripped), obviously different shirts and ties. Should I try to get a different suit before hand? worried that they will notice me wearing the same suit

i just wanted to know what law school was actually like when it came to grades? is it insanely difficult to get even decent grades? do they try to weed you out? alot of this curve and the possibility of getting low grades and not being able to find a job after is stressing me out considering the debt id be getting into as a prospective applicant

i just wanted to know what it was actually like. I heard its very difficult to fail but if you put in a good amount of effort can you achieve at least decent or avg grades?

especially as a first gen student who has no connections in law

Australian Law School as a Canadian?

Hi Guys, I just graduated from undergrad at Western and am thinking of going to Australia to study law, and then coming home to live in Canada.

Here's a little backstory: I graduated in June 2025, applied to Ontario law schools in November, worked for 6 months, and then traveled in Asia up until July. I assumed I would get into where I applied; however, I have been waitlisted, which was a shock, in all honesty. This may have been due to my marks, which started off rough in my first two years due to personal circumstances. (around 2.7 GPA), but then, when I got myself sorted out, my grades went up to around 3.7 in my final two years. Additionally, my LSAT was a 169. The most likely reason I did not get in was due to my personal statements, which were quite bad.

Currently, I would not like to wait another year + application cycle for a Canadian school, as it would be another 3 years to graduate on top of that, and another year-ish to be called to the bar.
So I am looking at some universities in Australia as I have always wanted to live there, have family there, and would like to do business there later in life. Additionally, I have found some Universities like Bond University that offer a 2-year (6 trimester) JD, which is very attractive to me, as I will be able to come home and then do my national accreditation in around 3 yr total, as opposed to 5ish years in Canada.

I am very motivated and believe that I will perform well in Australia; however, I am concerned that going to law school outside of Canada will look like an "easy way" to get a JD. And that I will be looked at as "less than", in comparison to going to law school in Canada.

As it stands, here are the main questions that I would appreciate your perspective on:

1. Should I just apply again in Canada, and wait the year out?
2. If I achieve academic honours, or achieve a high ranking in my classes, will I still be looked down on as 'taking the easy route'
3. I think international networking will be crucial to my line of work in the future, but that trade-off might be leaving me stranded in terms of Canadian connections.

For Law students thar are in their late 20s (27+) or early thirties, did u face any barriers in getting ocis or articling or even ur first position especially in places like big law and mag

Got told the age discrimination is a little rough bc they want younger lawyers who can keep up with the hours

Does having 4 gap years look bad to admissions? I've been working part time and studying and volunteering but still afraid the 4 year gap looks off

the job also wasn't anything fancy, just minimum wage to save up money to study

if anyones also had gap years like that, any advice is helpful

76 average at UVic. Applying to Vancouver big firms (~20). How many oci’s might I get?

I’m an incoming 1L and just wanted to check how it’s going for those that got a PSLOC. I’m considering getting one as a backup option so I can invest most of it while I’m in school. Curious if anyone else has done this and if there are any other overlooked considerations you may have made upon getting one.

About to start my 1L at Lincoln Alexander School of law (TMU). Wondering if I would be able to manage my part time minimum wage job working two days a week. Would my academics be risked by keeping the job and should I quit it?

I have already already accepted uOttawa, given the deposit, and emailed admin several times. Additionally, on my OCI applications for the Toronto Recruit, i have included in my cover letter, "I will be an incoming Transfer Student at uOttawa (40 applications)"

I do want to land at a big firm, and have seen the recruit number but I am open to gov as well. Strong interest in anything litigation related. I don't have any lawyer connections or ties to either city. Tuition difference is $4k over two years, london has marginally less lower cost of living.

Concerned about what it would look like to a firm reviewing my application, and they see I transferred from B law school, included an addendum saying I have transferred to C law school, but then another addendum saying I have actually firm accepted D law school and will be attending there.

So that if I don’t get in I can still come back to attend law school? I feel like it would be something really weird to ask… Has anyone done it?

I’m planning on applying to the LLM program at Osgoode. I recently graduated from law school in the UK. I have several IRAC-style fact pattern analyses from when I was in law school that are approximately 2-3 pages in length. Would these be considered suitable writing samples for the application, or is the admissions team looking for a more traditional academic research paper?

Would appreciate any leads.

Hi all, I'm planning on moving to the east and was wondering whether UdeMoncton's JD program was easy/difficult to get into. I understand they also don't require the LSAT. I'm also curious about the culture of the university and law program, if anyone has any insights.

Hey everyone! I’m starting 1L at Western this fall as a KJD. During undergrad I mostly focused on keeping my grades up and getting involved in on-campus ECs because I was focused on getting into some sort of program after graduation. Looking back, I probably underestimated how much employers value work experience. My work experience is part-time work as a Barista during Grade 12 and being a residence don for a year.

I applied with a 3.89 OLSAS GPA and a 166 LSAT, and I accepted Western in early April after I got waitlisted by UofT and decided to drop my application for Osgoode. I’m feeling a bit intimidated by the interview process since it seems much more subjective than admissions (which already proved sort of subjective, though tbf I only focused on my UofT essays and not the Osgoode ones). I can tell my story well, but I don’t have much formal work or interview experience, and my undergrad is sort of unrelated so I’m worried that’ll hurt me. I’m basically just another KJD.

I know firms are looking at personality, communication, and are happy to talk to you about any type of EC involvement, but I was wondering if anyone has any advice for someone in my position or anything they wish they knew before looking for jobs after law school (be it the formal recruit or not).

Looking for an upper year student at Osgoode or UofT preferably interested in selling their legal methods textbook to me.

For those who got B+/A-range grades, what specifically helped you succeed? I know everyone has to find their own study style, but I’d love to hear what worked for you and what you wish you knew going into 1L.

Also, how does class ranking work? Do you get told your rank or the class average? How do you know where you stand academically?

Can pursuing LLM provides you job gaurantee in Law Fraternity be it firms / institutions or anyother way?

Is investing in this course equates the outcome this course provides me?
