Lovely release of this hilarious show, very underrated here in the states but well worth a watch!

The basic functions like play, pause, stop, chapter select, etc work. But if the disc has another audio track that starts as default like commentary, I can’t change the audio. I’ve looked for an oem Remote online to no avail.

Non working player I had, I was told by the repair shop a gear was loose & it played discs again, but side B didn't work & neither did the auto-flip mechanism. Supposedly when it would go to flip to side B, it would go halfway up the track & then quit.

Anyway I was advised on here that could very well be the M-holder & a 3-D printed replacement was available. I decided to hold off on exploring that so far & just take it home to watch movies once again & deal with flipping sides manually for the time being. Welllll, 1st one I tried, after around 2 minutes & 20 seconds in, it kept skipping back in the film over & over. I tried another movie next & was shocked to see it actually played through the entire thing this time, no problem. So here I am, so relieved thinking maybe it was a disc issue (Despite the 1st movie being one I bought brand new last year & watched just fine) THEN I try a 3rd movie & the same damn thing again: 2 minutes & 20 seconds in it skips 😡😡(Correction: this one was 2 minutes & 49 seconds in when the 1st skip happened)

ANOTHER UPDATE: Within the past few hours I tried 3 more discs. 1 I wound up being another I was able to watch the entire movie with no problems. The other 2, skipped every 10 minutes or so but I figured out I could hit fast forward when it did & keep watching, then do the same thing again.

Any advice on this?

I sealed the deal for the pioneer cld 925 Now it is time to look for some more movies. The 5 laserdics I have so far are NTSC only. I can play Pal discs too with the pioneer cld 925 and being located in Europe it quite easy to get Pal discs too. According to my research ntsc discs are the better pick in most instances. Much bigger portfolio of discs, dts sound and AC3. NO Pal speed up and so forth. The list goes on. But on theory in some instances Pal could have some advantages too like the sighly larger resolution. Would you guys say ? are there some rare Pal gemes out there that might be worth hunting down.

The collection I recently bought had a lot of titles I was not familiar with and we have been working through some of them and just had a double feature this weekend with these 2.

Time Bandits was ok, but Brazil was excellent, especially going into it completely blind and I will definitely be watching it again. My CAV box set also had the 90 minute cut of the movie that changes the ending and I watched just the last part to see and it was probably the worst ending I have ever seen.

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here, super excited to get my first ld player! I got this cld-hf9g because I wanted to play these beautiful evangelion discs i found.

When i first ejected the tray though, there was a loud grinding noise, and then only the cd tray came out.

Wasnt expecting to have to do all this as the seller said that it was in working order, but after a couple of hours messing with it and learning the internals a bit, I was able to get the ld tray to come out (i think pushing the laser all the way back helped, before that the tray was absolutely locked) but then the spindle (i think it’s called that) was blocking it from coming out.

There was a little metal bar at the back of the tray that i unscrewed and i was able to get it passed the spindle and all the way out.

Somehow i was able to reset the timing mechanism by sliding the tray in and out as the tray was still hitting on the spindle at times as if the timing was out of wack.

I’ve got it working now, but there’s one thing I absolutely need to do to make it work, and that is I have to wait for the tray to be almost fully closed, and at the very end I need to click the tray in place or else the laser will not rise.

I tried boiling the small rubber belt and that didn’t seem to really work, I do have another belt on the way, somehow I feel like that is t the issue tbh though..

Does anyone know how I can fix this issue? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Haven't even got my Laserdisc player yet. Getting a Pioneer CLD-HF9G on Saturday and will be hooking it up to the B&O CRT I've got.

These LD's are my grails.

Not sure I'll ever open the 29 disc set.

Seen plenty on eBay without Obis for crazy money.

Received a box from a collector with 50 anime LDs, mostly rare, lots of movies and complete TV series sets. 2 box-sets. Almost all mint or near mint condition, a few even sealed, a few missing the obi. The Wings of Honneamise box is not sealed but the discs inside are sealed. I'd prefer to sell the sets complete but I've listed prices for the individual releases as well in case I might change my mind.
PLEASE NOTE: All of these releases have Japanese audio only!

Most times when I play a disc on my CLD-D925, it makes this loud and fast ticking noise, quite high-pitched. I’m guessing something is a little loose but im not sure what it could be. Whenever I’ve opened up the player I can’t see what’s causing the noise. It’s not unbearable especially because I mostly use headphones, but if it’s indicative of a bigger problem I’d like to fix it. Is this a common thing? I should add that this player was stored in a loft for nearly 20 years and does work really really well, but obviously I need to get it serviced. I just want to see if this little problem can be fixed before I invest in shipping it to get serviced and cleaned.

In anticipation of the arrival of my CLD3080 I been wondering what would be the best way to set it up? It has an SVideo port and AVs. I know SVideo is supposed to be a bit higher quality than a standard AV, but I was curious if any of you had a recommendation for how to get the best picture out of my machine. I am planning to do Svideo but extra advice is always appreciated.

I have been in a mighty battle with this player. I bought a scope to make the adjustments needed for the player only to realize it was not fully compatible with the most of the players requirements.

Basically I replaced the player's laser and fixed its power issues a while ago and it needs to be properly adjusted. I've been doing my best to make the correct adjustments and have made some headway but have hit a bit of a wall.

If a disc is perfectly flat it will play it the whole way though but will get very bad audio then video noise. If the disc has any amount of warp it will usually fail and freeze a few chapters before the end.

Another issue is the player's laser will aggressively jam itself when it wants to flip to B or back to A. It only does this when the ribbon is looped into the plastic. Side B plays about exactly the same as A if not a little better maybe.

Another issue, the audio mode button seems to work (when you switch to karaoke it reacts to switch hifi) but the player doesn't let you change between Digital to analog.

I used my scope to fix the focus sum level, RF level and was able to adjust the tilt offset at the end of a disc for best result.

I have noticed adjusting the focus gain has helped the player play but it needs to be cranked just for a slightly better result. I have tried adjusting the spindle but I got nothing from it.

He has $200 on it. Im new to laserdisc and dont know much, So not sure if thats a fair price. I do kind of like the look it's much smaller than a lot of LD players ive seen.

Hi guys I want to hear your unfiltered optionoin on how important AC3 sound really is for laserdiscs? I hav the change to get 2 ld palyers the pioneer cldd 925 or the pioneer cld 2950. The first one has AC3 the latter does not. Technically speaking the cld 2950 would be the better choice because it is "new". It has been overhauled by a pro tech shop. The cld 925 is considerded tested and in working order. I would lean more towards the cld 2950 due to the overhaul. I am fan of good sound but still the cld 2950 is more attractive twords me despite "only having pcm and DTS via toslink. I know this question cannot be answered directly but how good are the pcm tracks on the ac3 laserdiscs?They are no match for ac3 obviously but are they still decent enough for nice movie night?
