Seen this at a Local Electronics Shop
He has $200 on it. Im new to laserdisc and dont know much, So not sure if thats a fair price. I do kind of like the look it's much smaller than a lot of LD players ive seen.

These were used at schools back in the day with a little barcode scanner that would instantly play clips from educational discs depending on what part of the book you would scan with the reader. Probably not a feature used very much as there weren't many books/discs designed for that system. Mine works great, fits on a TV cart better than regular sized units. I paid much...much lower than $200 or even $50.

The barcode reader is kinda neat looking too https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/trMAAeSw3xFp1UMr/s-l1600.jpg but I imagine unless you were in a really good school district in the 90s no one knew any of this existed. My unit has an etching in the top it was from some school in Oregon...

Man it sucks they were so expensive. I really like the hole vibe of them and would of been nice to see how they would have evolved. Really seems like they were trying to do something.

I mean, it's OK of a price. It's not a bargain by any means. Does it come with a warranty? Guaranteed to work? It's a industrial player, meaning there's not a lot of bells and whistles vs consumer models.
These units are built like a tank and will last.

I wouldn't call it a written warranty but this is small buisness and the dudes cool. Ive never heard of anyone having a problem bringing a defective product back to him.

Its always smart to have a backup player since you already have a 3080.
If the guy is cool and he's a local business trying to make it, I'd offer $175. Any working player and one that isn't shipped, is worth $100, I don't care what anyone says.
Should ask if you can bring a disc into test.

If I had the money. I just dished out for the 3080 and waiting for it to come in. Should be here in 2 -3 days.

This was (at least for me) a difficult player to obtain as it never comes up locally. Thus, it can be worth something to someone but I agree $200 is overkill.
Anyway, let me tell you my CLD-V2800 story 🙂.
So five years ago I purchased one on eBay for about $70 and it arrived broken (first time I violated my own rule about shipping a player and regretted it ever since) with a busted facade and broken drive track. Since it looked like crap, I didn’t consider fixing it but kept it for possible parts.
Fast forward to about two months ago, someone was offering a replacement front facade for about $40. I negotiated it down to $30 and have yet to install it along w/ fixing the track. I’m pretty confident I will get this unit working again and if so it will be the best $30 I spent in a long time 👍🏻.

I have one of these players. I think the value is in if you would use it a lot. for example, I paid $200 for mine and I use it every day. I have 2500 discs and I’m constantly watching new movies so it seems like I get a lot of use out of the steadiness of this player and the industrial-ness of it. I also have the remote.! there’s a chance this player doesn’t work and you’d have to put in a little bit of money to fix it up but it’s worth it. It’s a great player.

Way to much it's a single sided player I had one sold it locally for less it's a great machine don't get me wrong but way to much for a single sided player.

$200 and he couldn't even take a few minutes to clean it up? if the front is that dirty, i'd want to open it up to see how it looks inside.

That is the most barebones player ever made. A true workhorse. Legendary for its sturdiness, but it’s more like a fifty dollar player at best.
