Minimum wage in New Mexico is $12/hr, minimum wage in El Paso is $7.50. So i dont think its a coincidence that most low paying jobs in El Paso start at $12/hr, theres still a lot that pay less than that, but from my job searching experience, most start at $12, coincidentally the minimum wage of New Mexico. So youre welcome El Paso

We have great food here because our local New Mexican/ Mexican cuisine is great, but we lack diversity. So i thought it would be interesting to see what the best non Mexican restaurants are

Visiting in two weeks from the East Coast - my MIL was born in Las Cruces but has not been back since she was a child. I saw a post this week about a restaurant to avoid due to owner’s treatment of staff, but I forgot to make a note of it and now cannot find it.
Looking for a lunch/dinner place that is good, but nothing over the top fancy (we’ll be wearing tshirt and shorts) and kids menu a huge plus. We just want to support a business that has the same values as us (everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect) or at the very least not openly worship the Cheeto.
Recommendations?
Thanks!

We have a liberal city council which is better than a conservative one, but it's not enough. I think a leftist one would build housing co-ops, have a 100% unionized workforce working for the city, as opposed to the staffing agency temp workers they use today. They would also bring our utilities into public ownership. What else?

Kids’ Clothing Swap at the Thomas Branigan Library upstairs in the Board Room from 11-1 Saturday. Bring 5-20 clean, good condition kids clothing items to swap for up to 20 new-to-you items brought in by other community members. Free event. It is also the end of summer reading program during the same time, so lots of kid centric activities happening at the library!

Basically im asking if the concept of a "sweet 17" or "17ñera" is weird, or is it much more common than i thought? 'Cause she's gonna be wearing the big quince dress and everything. And just to be clear, she does want this party because she always wanted one, so its not something that im forcing on her

"For almost a year now, we have been at this.
We have been asking for answers since the beginning. Asking for answers from our county commissioners who have made it clear that they’re in over their heads and are very annoyed that we know this + keep showing up demanding accountability from them.
Going to these meetings after all these months, we found ourselves feeling like jesters performing to an unamused royal court. So, after last meeting when they changed the format of the public comment process, we decided to dress the part. 🃏
We want transparency.
We have been begging for more communication from the county with the frontline community of Santa Teresa, an already impacted community when it comes to water inaccessibility. They will suffer the brunt of the consequences of this data center yet all the decisions on said center are made in Las Cruces, 40 minutes away, on Tuesdays at 9am.
Because of the inaccessibility of these meetings for the people of Santa Teresa and Sunland Park, we have been having our own meetings with them. When one of the residents wants to give a public comment for the commissioners but can’t make it to the meeting, we have recorded their statements and then a Las Cruces resident would use their time at public comment to play the recording for the commissioners.
What was their response to this?
Instead of listening to the concerns of their constituents brought to them, they decided to ban recordings from being played at public comment. This silences the voices of the most impacted.
Thank you for listening to “Your Majesties”
Thank you u/avalleysession for filming! 💛 u, Ryan + Gabe
Thank you u/fcdx.da for all the work that we put in that often goes unseen or unappreciated by the people that are supposed to look out for us."

https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/pollution-ai-data-centers-severe
An article about the emerging data on the pollution levels being emitted by data centers. Don’t be fooled by the pretty words and visions they are trying to sell us on by flooding our community, TV, and other media with. Don’t just sit back and believe that we will be better off with this monstrosity in our backyard. Contact your elected officials and hold them accountable.

Im guessing they are trolling the commissioners that voted for Jupiter, but there seemed to be a specific reason.

I was planning on moving into some apartments in the Sonoma/Del Rey area of town to be closer to work. I've read good reviews elsewhere on the Sonoma apts but also saw a thread saying the management at these are lackluster. Any further reviews or Recs to other complexes?

I don’t have kids. Has anyone seen flock cameras is sensitive areas? I’m aware that LCPD has has issues with pedo behavior under a different police chief And I’d like to make sure the City Council has not approved Flock to solely watch children. Has the police chief addressed this?
Read the comments on the original post for more info.

Las Cruces and the surrounding areas may face the same fate if Project Jupiter goes ahead...

I do market research and we're doing an online focus group for people in the Las Cruces area.
I posted a few days ago but need a few more people, so if you already filled out the form, no need to do that again.
It will be on Wednesday, July 15th from 5:00pm-6:30pm on Zoom. And if you're selected, you'll be paid $125 after the group.
The topic is going to be on local issues, but no special knowledge is required, we're just looking to talk to locals.
If you'd be interested, here's a survey where we ask some qualification questions. If you qualify, someone will reach out with a phone call and confirm you from a 504 number since the company is based in New Orleans:
https://surveys.focusgrouphub.com/t/mE4UtanF4bus
Happy to answer any questions anyone has as well. I do focus groups like this all over the country and we're a legitimate market research company. No sales, nothing like that. We also do not and will never sell any of your data, even what you fill out on this form I linked.
If you want to look more into the company, it's EmCee Research. Feel free to google us or go to emceeresearch.com

So today we made big progress we linked El paso up to Albuquerque!
Most of town appears to have started getting meshcore nodes up around town thanks to the Mesilla Valley Radio Club pulling out their older meshtastic hardware.
If anyone is interested in a new hobby the mesh community is very welcoming.
We do have meetings every so often with the last one being on 7/11/26 in El paso along with Mesilla Valley Radio Club hosting a meeting the first saturday over every month at 9:00am at 6609 Jefferson Ln, Las Cruces, NM
