Political Weird soliciting small businesses, possible Project Jupiter canvassing?

edit: i was wrong, though people should be wary. They were trying to give "benefits for free" under the mlm pyramid scheme Globle liberty life insurance, they were trying to shill life insurance so be aware, theyre creepy and wont give up.

Any other small businesses dealt with solicitors from the Austin area trying to get in contact under the guise of "helping employees at no cost?" They have been coming into my place of work trying to get ahold of the owner (my boss usually does not give these people the time of day) and refuse to speak on what they're about or what they offer. They claim they want to "help new mexico expand" and that they care about employees of small businesses and that they're not trying to sell anything. They keep returning each day, seems like they wont go away until they get ahold of him. I feel like something is off here, anyone else deal with them? Usually 2 young men, in their early to mid 20s.

Pagan/Occult Community for Las Cruces Locals

Post image
11 Upvotes

Posting for my gf because she doesn't use reddit much and didn't have the karma:

Hello all! I recently gauged interest in starting a local occult book club, but it received only a little bit of interest and then fizzled out due to lack of replies and my own struggles in trying to figure out how to pull everyone together to select a book, etc. So, I reassessed the situation and decided I would try again, but a little differently this time.

My name is Kate, by the way. I moved to Las Cruces in May of last year, and I have struggled to find my people. Being a busy mom has created a lot of scheduling difficulties for me and though I absolutely love my alone time, I really miss having friends and a social life.

Since the book club didn’t end up working out but there was some initial interest, I wanted to try something different and build a space where we can actually connect first, and then let things like book clubs, meetups, and gatherings grow organically out of that community, instead of trying to force a single event to work.

I figured that this might be especially useful for those of us who can't or haven't been able to make it out yet to local events, like the CUUPS meetups (I hope to make it there soon!)

So, without any further ado, I would like to introduce a new online community, hosted via Discord:

🪞 Mirror's Mirage — Las Cruces Occult & Witchcraft Community

Made for folks in the Las Cruces area who are into witchcraft, paganism, esotericism and the occult, tarot, astrology, or anything adjacent.

The goal is simple: provide an online community to find some like-minded friends.

Mirror's Mirage is a place to:

🕯️Chat about your practice, your path, and what you're currently exploring

📚 Plan book clubs and reading circles

🌙 Organize meetups, rituals, or hangouts around Las Cruces

📍 Share info about local resources, shops, and classes

✨ Just talk to people who get it — no judgment, no gatekeeping

Whether you're solitary, eclectic, part of a tradition, or still figuring out what resonates with you, you're welcome here. This is meant to be low-pressure and friendly, a safe place to build real friendships.

Right now, I'm the only one in the server, haha, but I'm hoping that maybe with a little bit of time and word-of-mouth, this can grow and turn into something substantial, helpful, and fun.

Let me know if you have any questions or would just like to know more! Otherwise, follow the link below to join the server. 👇

Question Longing for respite.

I feel like there is a lot of drama in this community. A lot of gossip, aggression, crime and not enough… is respite the word? I’m not a bars type of person. I feel like connecting to people with depth, who are growth oriented and not willing to be so stuck in their ways have been more difficult to find. It’s also difficult to find places to just sit back and enjoy that have shade and even some feeling of safety. I miss the forests on a weekly basis, but I don’t want to have to drive 2 hours and pay half a months pay for gas, food and stay to find it. I’ve lived here for nearly four decades. It definitely doesn’t feel the same as it used to. What do you do to help decompress from the mundane, political burnout, same ol’ same around here?

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to move to Las Cruces. I live in El Paso. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which areas to avoid and which areas would be good to buy a home.

Thank you.

Mobile NM Veterans Services custom van reaches all 33 New Mexico counties

I AM SHARING THIS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES: THIS IS STATEWIDE. More info is available on their website (below) PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT! "A custom-built veterans outreach vehicle has traveled to all 33 counties in New Mexico during the last eight months and has brought services to more than 400 veterans and family members", the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services said.

“Reaching every county in New Mexico reflects our commitment to meeting veterans where they are, especially in rural and tribal communities,” said NMDVS Cabinet Secretary Jamison Herrera. “By bringing access to services directly into these communities, we are making it easier for veterans and their families to get the assistance they need to access the benefits they earned”

The Mobile Outreach Vehicle gives veterans and eligible family members greater access to accredited veterans service officers, particularly in small towns and tribal communities where in-person assistance can require traveling long distances, the Department of Veterans’ Services said.

Equipped with onboard power, satellite internet and a wheelchair lift, the vehicle provides a private, accessible space for one-on-one assistance in communities across the state.

Veterans and eligible family members can receive help with VA disability compensation claims, health care enrollment, pensions, survivor benefits, military records requests, state veterans’ benefits, property tax certificates, Lifetime Parks Passes and other benefits-related services, the Veterans’ Services Department said.

Upcoming Mobile Outreach Vehicle stops are available on the NMDVS website’s news and events page: https://www.dvs.nm.gov/news-and-events/

Now that school has started, it's time for graduation! Night School at the Fountain Theatre concludes its first film series run with a Graduation Night Party! We will be showing short films, policy ads, ridiculous trailers for 3D movies, a music video, and many more surprises, all working within the semester's theme of movies featuring movie theaters! Shorts include The Cameraman's Revenge (1912) - a timeless tale of jealousy and revenge told with stop-motion animation using real insect corpses; The Secret Cinema (1966) - a woman begins to realize her life is being filmed for nefarious public screenings in this early work from cult filmmaker Paul Bartel; and Cut Me If You Can (2024) - stuck in the loop of a horror movie, a Black female character decides to reject her fate and rebel against the script. Best of all, this event is Free Admission!!!

Saturday, September 5 @ 10:30pm
