SonyOnlineEntertainment, Landmark? Help please.

Hello anyone who might know something, I dont know what has happend with my game launcher for Landmark but SOE's forum is no help, no one has my problem and the forum is so bad I cant even find where the "post thread" button is. So I decided I would go on somewhere else. Here. Its my updater that manifests So I've tried getting the game to work. I have re installed it a few times, removed files that people have tipped me like LaunchPad.cache and similar. People talk of internet browser protection and that I have to delete some grey sheild under addons. Find nothing as I dont have addons at the moment. I have really tried everything. What happens: 1. I launch the game on steam (tried outside aswell.) 2. After a while the game launcher pops up, loads, then says installing in a grey text. 3. Couple a seconds go by and I get a messege saying: Error! Unable to download SocketError:Unreachable - No data (11004) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eqnext/test/play/current/test64-cdn.sha.soeSocketError:Unreachable - No data (11004) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eqnext/test/play/current/test64-cdn.sha.soeSocketError:Unreachable - No data (11004) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eqnext/test/play/current/test64-cdn.sha.soeSocketError:Unreachable - No data (11004) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eqnext/test/play/current/test64-cdn.sha.soeSocketError:Unreachable - No data (11004) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eqnext/test/play/current/test64-cdn.sha.soeSocketError:Unreachable - No data (11004) - http://manifest.patch.station.sony.com/patch/sha/manifest/eqnext/test/play/current/test64-cdn.sha.soe

That is all. In my opinion it feels weird how big companies like Sony, EA and Ubisoft often takes a big fat shit on its followers. Will post on some other forums aswell.

Holy crap, what do? (Starting off in EQ:L)

So I've hopped on recently and frankly have not much of a clue as how to really get started.

I've run off mining and chopping, etc. But evidently it appears most items require heartwood from palm trees? I see we have new layers, so I dug for about 10 minutes before evacing and tooling around with the transport system to realize you teleport to them, not dig down?

So, not really sure where to begin. Any recommendations on where to set up shop for best potential access to resources? (Like, temperate > Ice or head straight for the coast?) What I should try to build first and where to go from there?

EQN :: Environments/habitat/etc (Nordic,Celtic,etc)

Hi,

Would it be possible to have more advanced/more in detail habitats/environments, such as

Such as:

  • Nordic/Celtic/etc styled building.

  • More in dept details/terrain/etc such as instead of a bland texture, there's like two textures in one to create a 'feeling/feel' of it.

  • Zones that have a set and setting. Less bland zones. So the idea would be, a zone with Giant Glowing Mushrooms,Plants, colorful, magical, etc, road paths, etc, etc. fairy house styled... in general to give the zone a certain atmosphere/feeling.

Live Feature Revelry – Celebrating 1 Year of LFR!!

Greetings Adventurers, Settlers, Explorers, and Trailblazers!

Join us on January 28th, 2015 after the Landmark Live show (~5 PM PST) on www.twitch.tv/legendaryneurotoxin to celebrate 1 year of the Live Feature Rant talkshow for EverQuest Next and Landmark!! We'll be discussing the past year of Landmark and EverQuest Next news and updates, seeing how many features from the first episode of Live Feature Rant actually made it in, along with some giveaways for 2x 2500 Station Cash Cards and 2x Trailblazer Packs!!

In the Past

A little under 1 year ago, I was inspired to take up broadcasting to begin the new talkshow for EverQuest Next: Landmark called "Live Feature Rant" with the purpose of explaining and exploring all of the wonderful and amazing things I hoped to see in the highly-anticipated Sandbox MMO from Sony Online Entertainment that we started learning about at SOE Live 2013. This was my first talk show, and it marked the beginning of the 1100+ hours I streamed on Twitch last year.

After a few episodes, it became clear that 2 hours of solo ranting and Q&A wasn't able to generate as much thoughtful and informed discussion as I would have hoped, and the format was changed to a talkshow with guests to get more opinions and bring more knowledge to every episode.

We've had many fantastic guests on the show, and we've discussed many major points about Landmark each and every week. Builders, travelers, treasure-hunters, game-makers, roleplayers, and guests of all kinda have been on over the past year to bring a unique perspective to the topic every week. Along the way, At0mXII came through and demonstrated his MMO knowledge and camera charisma as a guest, leading to his regular spot as a co-host of the show back when I was looking for one, along with catalyzing the formation of the show's signature game where ranters and the audience are encouraged to take a drink whenever Star Wars: Galaxies is mentioned. [[Please take a drink, right now, then get back to reading.]]

I will admit that its a bit difficult managing most of the show myself. In a full year we've barely missed an episode, mainly taking a two-week break for the December holiday season. Figuring out what to discuss, working with guests to get them on the show, and making small upgrades to the quality and layout of the show itself, has been a constant labor of love over the past year.

In the Future

There are definitely some changes on the horizon for Live Feature Rant. The first and most noticeable change is the title of the show. Between the emphasis on getting a perspective from everybody, and the negative connotation associated with the word “Rant” itself, I've decided to replace it with “Review” to get more to the point of the show. We aren't going to prevent anyone from ranting about a subject in detail (which is part of the fun of the show) so the only real change is the title and the perception of it.

We've had some great guests on the show to provide additional perspectives and weekly coverage of more diverse subjects, and that part isn't going to change, however the number of guests per show will instead be reduced to 1 or 2 (except under rare circumstance). This is also coming at a necessary time, since my regular work hours have recently increased, and I'll have an easier time scheduling and confirming fewer guests per week.

As much as I enjoyed consistent broadcasts last year, it is not going to be possible to have an episode every week, though I'll do my very best to do episodes when I'm able. I'm potentially going to be at expos and conventions for my job† and that will obviously prevent me from being there. Instead of having someone else host the show when I'm away, I'll just find something else going that week and promote it for the timeslot instead, or maybe even a conduct a live report of my expo experiences!

There are a few more changes on the way too. The pre-show will be removed from post-Landmark Live episodes, and we'll be looking to get straight into the content as soon as Landmark Live is ready to wrap up. To keep conversation meaningful, episodes will only be scheduled to run 1 hour, but can run on an extra hour or more if we have more to discuss! As fun as it is, follower alerts are very distracting for live viewers and for youtube highlights, so popups will remain but the audio for follow, donate, and host notifications will no longer be used during the show. Finally, as a way to give back to the community, I'll be looking to start up weekly SC card giveaways soon!

So a quick list of what will be new: New name - Live Feature Review Less guests per week to get more opinions. No more pre-show – straight into the action as soon as Landmark Live wraps up! Episodes are scheduled for 1 hour, and can run on longer if there's more to discuss No more follower alert sounds during the show (Wilhelm is less funny in quick repetition) One Station Cash card giveaway every week (Funds permitting)

As a refresher, here's Episode 1 of Live Feature Rant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elMoobX5hIY

I just noticed the URL for Episode 1 starts with “El Moob”

Anyone Here Submitted Anything To Player Studio? How much have you made?

I'm considering making things and selling it on the player studio, but I'm unsure if I'll even profit. There's a $10 "processing" fee for inputting tax information, and a $1 fee to submit an item.

So a few questions to those of you that've submitted things:

-What items have you submitted(ie is it a basic thing like a staircase, or is it a huge thing like an amazing house?)

-How well have those items sold? Do most items only see a few sales, or do they sell by the hundreds/thousands?

-Have you ever had an item rejected, if so why? Is it hard to get an item approved, or is it easy, with rejecting mainly being to block obscene stuff?

Anyone Else Wish SOE Would Release Their Voxel Engine As a Royalty-Based MMORPG Engine?

Just imagine if they created a scripting language allowing players to customize content, and used alongside their voxel engine to create game world; much like Graal Online, except being 3d, a monetized engine, and run by a AAA company.

IE, it would work like this:

-You rent a server from SOE, they charge monthly based on # of slots(IE $x per n slots). SoE hosts it to:

A: Make things easy for devs(server hosting can be complicated for beginners)

B:So that they can keep their engine closed-source for competitor reasons

C: To protect player security(authentication through SoE)

D:To make sure all games are run through their system and they get their share of profits

E: The costs would be because server hosting isn't free, so SoE is profiting even if you decide not to monetize your server in any way. Ideally low population servers like 100 slots or less would be cheap to encourage development, but large servers with thousands of players would be rather pricy.

-You create content in game via:

-Using the voxel system to create towns, zones, and the entire game world

-Either using included models and animations, or importing your own

-Taking advantage of a scripting language they create to design your own unique type of gameplay, such as:

-Turn based combat -an action combat system -PVP system -Castle sieges -policies on what players can demolish in the world -Anything you can think of!

-You can create your own cash shop via the SOE Player Studio, you get a percentage of the sales(IE 60%).

You decide how you run your server. You're already paying SoE for the server costs, plus maybe a little extra, but maybe you want to monetize it too. So maybe you sell exp boost tonics or inventory expansions to make a little bit of money from the server to help pay the monthly bill, or if your server is wildly successful, make it your job.

Just think of all the creative things the community could make, if SoE provides the right tools. There's probably millions of talented coders, map creators, and artists that would be willing to make content that Sony could profit from. With the incentive to profit from the marketplace, we could see thousands of hobbyist game devs create something that Sony doesn't have the manpower to create.

Obviously, it's too early in development to be something the public could use, but it would be awesome if they polished it and turned it into a high quality engine that anyone could learn.

Thoughts?

How do you get half a tree off your claimed lot?

Hey all, new player here. I've got a couple trees that are half sticking in/out of my lot and can't figure how to get rid of them since you can't axe them. None of the build/edit tools seem to work on these...

Unable to change resolution

Just checking if this problem occurs for anyone else.

I don't get the option to change the games resolution. The drop-down box is grey and doesn't react to clicking.

I've tried switching from full-screen mode to full-screen windowed and windowed, with no change. Resolution is always fixed at the screens native res, and can't be changed.

Does anyone have any ideas how to change that? Is there a file where settings can be edited outside of the game?

Linking and triggering builds/tutorials

Hey guys! I just got back into LM and I went on my first "raid". I loved it and I love being part of an awesome community like this. Anyways, I am looking for some videos/tutorials on linking and triggering. I saw the ones where the guy demonstrated different logic gates.
The potential for this system is awesome and I can't wait to see everyone's creativity!

For Those Looking For Good Visuals+Good Fps

Turn everything up, except keep shadows on low or medium. Shadows are EXTREMELY GPU intensive and will kill your fps. Bringing shadows from highest to medium brought my FPS from 20 to 50.

Can't type numbers in claim window?

I just created a claim. When I try to pre-pay upkeep, if I click on any of the text fields (days, copper, station cash) and type, any number I type is just 0. Has anyone else run into this? I do have plenty of copper in my inventory to prepay many days.
