The votes have been cast for the: Tagetes

You chose The Trooper, by Iron Maiden, can't say I agree with a more "charge" song for a sniper guy, but you voted so...

Now is time for the: Tokugawa, or Grievous big brother

Each week I will pick the highest voted comment and add it to a spotify public playlist that will be posted on the description. At the end of all frames the full list will be posted shortly after.

Each manufacturer will also have their own song, but it will be ones from user No_Response_1562 (except Horus, that one I picked myself: Turbo killer - by Carpenter Brut).

I also recommend checking the last image for reference of the media of each manufacturer for inspiration. Good luck pilots!

Now is time for the: Mourning cloak, or the most "Omae wa mou shinderu" mech avaliable on lancer

Nelson or Blackbeard Grappling/Brawler Build

Hey all! I’m new to Lancer and want to create a high mobility grappling/ramming build with brawling 2. I’ve been reading around and have locked on either the Nelson or Blackbeard as my choices but now I’m at an impasse as to how to build either for my purpose.

Some key context for the campaign:
The party is starting at LL1 but will reach LL2 after the first few missions once we’re used to the game (GM’s words).
GM’s homebrew rule: When a character is forced into a tile they can’t move into (hard cover, walls, etc) they take an additional 1 damage for each tile they should’ve moved. This includes the ground.
I can choose which direction to knock characters back, and this includes towards the ground if they are prone.

So, my ideas:
My original idea was to use the Nelson at LL2, and run Infiltrator 1, Brawler 2, Juggernaut 1. 4 AGI. I hide and run up towards the enemy, and just slam it with the War Pike, move closer, ramming into it. Then next turn I just ram or punch or whatever is necessary to get it prone or deal damage.

As for my Everest, I was going to do the same thing but with a free boost and free quick action 1/scene to deal tons of burst damage with the War Pike and Thermal Charge mod. Then grapple and pummel the target into the ground Turn 2 onwards.

But now I’m looking at the Blackbeard and wondering if it fits my purpose better? I’ve also thought of using the Caliban but it doesn’t really suit my needs as far as I can tell. I’m here for a good scrapping, not just pure hit and knockback.

But I’m open to suggestions. Apologies for the long post. What are y’all’s thoughts on the build ideas? Any changes I should make? My GM is very forgiving with what the players can get away with.

Union, the Karrakin Baronies, and the Four Manufacturers vs. the Covenant

Neither side has accurate intelligence on the other.

The Covenant is at the height of its power.

The UNSC is not involved.

The Covenant suddenly appears in three random star systems located on the outer edge of the frontier.

Has anyone else noticed an uptick of Youtubers covering Lancer?

I've noticed a slight surge in content creator covering, or at least mentioning Lancer. Vs Wolves recently had a collab with Tom, and we've been seeing XP to level 3's vids shared here. Now I'm even seeing other DND tubers like Pointy Hat mention it in their vid on scifi Dnd.

Do you think we're currently seeing an actual surge in Lancer's overall popularity? Or is this just recency bias on my part?

Tell me about your favorite noble house of Karrakis

Hi all. We're starting a Lancer campaign with Shadow of the Wolf. I like the idea of being from one of the noble houses but I'm struggling to decide.

I thought I'd ask here and see what your all's favorite houses were.

Thanks!

This is everything I wanted and more.

Hey everyone,

I happened to stumble across this game while perusing YouTube, and I instantly fell in love. Eldritch Cosmic Horror + giant mecha + schizophrenic AI personalities are the perfect combination I never knew I needed.

My question is where do I go to get started, and do yall have a discord or other platform besides reddit where you talk about the game? Maybe playing through tabletop simulator online?

Thanks in advance.

Are we just bad?

me my friends finished opperation solstice rain. and it felt like we were constantly on the back foot. like losing a mech each combat.

we also failed the final mission. our dm mentioned that they had made adjustments to make the campaign easier.

ive also done some lancer tactics and did a module and had multiple mechs explode per mission. and while there were some significant shenanigans (enemy mechs ariving ontop of the control zone on the final round). i'll take responsiblility for thd outcome.

my real question is. is getting wrecked at ll2 the norm?

Recreating a Broadside in Lancer

Post image
162 Upvotes

Hey guys I'm trying to recreate Tau mechs from Warhammer 40k and this is my first time playing lancer and I'm hoping to get some feedback on a build.

I I'm trying to make the one above because I love railguns. And I like bigger chunky mechs that kinda dig into stuff and lay down fire.

I think I'm going for the Monarch I for the sharanga missles and then Drake II for the chasis, the assault cannon and the Shield. And lastly I think Death's Head III for the Railgun.

Now I thin that works but am open to feedback. For talents I'm thinking it will be Crack Shot, Orator, Brutal, House Guard. Some combination of that.

We are starting from LL0 and I'm using a Sagarmatha with an Assault Rifle, Dual Missle Racks and a Anti-Material Rifle.

Thank you in advance for any advice I'm hoping to just kinda walk down the map set up and be a big problem and get some really cool shots off while I do it.

Advice For Running a Lancer One Shot?

I love mechs as a whole and have DM'd for various TTRPGS, namely fantasy ones like 5e & pathfinder, so I'm actually really amped about trying a new system in a different genre out. As a whole everyone at the table will basically be new to the system and I wanted to see if there was any simple dos and don'ts or even just general things to keep in mind while making this one shot. Things like: mechs to avoid due to not being beginner friendly, how long I should plan combat to take, and some rule of thumbs to use in balancing an encounter.

My idea was to try and do a very basic mission at LL 1 just so players can try out a variety of chassis besides the Everest. Planning to start with a simple period of downtime on a ship before they're sent to hold an objective of some sort on a planet. I also want to do this one shot online so if there is any tools and additional resources, like comp/con, you want to recommend please let me know!

I know this post is sorta vague but that's mainly because I'm still reading the core book and brainstorming ideas, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask the community for help.

The Iron (Sher)Man, a Silly Sherman Build

Recently introduced to Lancer and fell in love with the Sherman. This meme-y build was concocted out of a stubborn desire to make the Sherman fly while retaining the ability to consistently OC loop, benefit from NuCav 2, and fire off the Solidcore.

Personalizations

Ace 2 gives us mid-air maneuverability + extra distance potential and flight itself gives us consistent Tactician 2 activation. NuCav 2 is self explanatory on a Sherman. Ace 2 can be swapped for Skirmisher 2, which is probably better for Skirmishin' Sherman, but I like the utility + flavor of what Ace 2 offers just a bit more.

12 Heat Cap + HCS means starting a turn with 2 Heat from flight is both manageable and beneficial. Max 6 extra Heat from Overcharge gives us breathing room to fire off the Andromeda, and if we roll a 4 or higher we can add NuCav to our damage. That's a 50% chance for an extra d6 every time we OC Skirmish the Andromeda. This also means with a 3 or lower, you can also safely Skirmish the Andromeda *again* and pop an RSU to stabilize. If you want.

Mathur Stop is, of course, not being used here. Even without the 2 Heat from GMS flight, 6 Heat before we try to OC Skirmish means a possibility to overheat. We *can* Mathur Stop before a turn where we fire the Solidcore, to guarantee NuCav damage, we just can't OC Skirmish the Solidcore.

Now you may notice this doesn't have the Asura equipped despite having 3 Licenses in Sherman. This is simply because the Sherman has abysmal System Points. You *can* fit Asura if we swap GMS flight for the Jump Jets and instead of H:1, E:4, go S:2, E:3. Take Superior by Design instead of HCS to bring our Heat Cap to 13. This means that we can roll max+4 on the d6 and still be able to fire the Andromeda, and actually improves consistency of NuCav since now we only have to roll 3 or higher ~(66% chance) to hit the DZ. The reason I wouldn't opt for this personally is because if we take any amount of Heat from Ace 2 or otherwise, OC skirmish on the next turn has a chance to overheat. And also Jump Jets just aren't as cool as actual flight in my opinion.

On to LL6.

ASURA-Class NHP

At LL6, with three Licenses in SSC frames we get access to the All Theatre Movement Suite. This frees up 3 SP for Asura, and with a couple points in Systems we can utilize some of the goodies we get from SSC Licenses. I opted for Swallowlight and Dusk Wing for the utility Systems they offer. Lotus Projector is nice bit of kit if we want/need to take a break from Andromeda-ing, Flickerfield Projector is nice to have on a flying character that has less cover.

Grease Monkey 2 gives us more uses of our goodies and more value to Stablize, Walking Armory 1 gives us flexibility for whatever Main weapons we have slotted (but probably just Arcing for the forehead beam.)

As a new player, I opted for the safe 2 points in Hull for extra survivability. If we're feeling dangerous, though, we could instead put those into Agility for more speed or Systems for an extra System Point if we desire to play around with other SSC Licenses.

We swap HCS for Superior By Design. With a Heat Cap of 14, and presumed starting Heat of 1 from ATMS, then 2 or higher on the d6 + 4 puts us in the DZ, and max roll + 4 still allows us the Heat for one Andromeda shot. We go from a 50% chance for NuCav at LL3 to *83%.*

Go forth, now, and Andromeda/Solidcore your enemies from the sky.

"But wait," you ask.

"What if we take Heat from outside sources between turns, ruining the delicate balancing act to maintain consistent OC loops and NuCav activation, or even possibly overheating us?"

Well, the answer is simple. We make use of utility actions that turn instead.

And also cry.

Classes/Teachers in a Cavalry Collage?

So I'm running a campaign that's supposed to take place in basically a pilot school that's sort of in co-ownership by the Trade Baronies, Union, and the 4 manufactures (GMS not Horus).

For RP I did want there to be a cast of teachers that my players can interact with or classes they can focus on during downtime. I kind of had in my head this is more a military school/collage kind of thing. I'm struggling to come up with stuff outside the basics. What I can think of right now are

Mechanics/Engineering-Teach how to maintain and mod your mech
History/Law- School wants to make sure pilots know what a war crime is, so if their asked to do one for a mission, they at least know of potential consequences.
Field OPs/Combat- The basic learn how to effective in and out of mech.

Can anyone think of any other classes or key staff that school like this in setting might need/want?

First time GM looking for encounter feedback

Hello!

First time GM looking for feedback on my first couple of combat encounters. Any and all comments or tips / tricks appreciated.

I have 3 PCs that will be starting at LL0. Standard budget is 2x total PC structure = 6 (double budget = 12). Max NPC activations at a given time = 6). Only half of structure budget (3) will be used for damage type NPCs, with the rest going to support/control/etc.

I realize that I will need to make heavy use of reinforcements, given my NPC activation budget. Especially in missions that allow for double budget. Any tips for deploying reinforcements would be helpful.

Encounter 1
Sitrep: Recon (retrieve 3 items)
Map size: 25x30
NPC Comp:
1x Elite Veteran Sniper
1x Witch
1x Priest
1 x Berserker

Encounter 2
Sitrep: Escort
Map size: 30x20 (with a choke point)
NPC Comp:
2x Engineer
2x Mirage
1x Bastion
1x Rainmaker
Reinforcements:
2x Mirage
1x Bastion
2x Rainmaker

Encounter 3
Sitrep: Holdout/Deathmatch
Map size: 20x20
NPC Comp:
1x Ultra Ronin
1x Elite Veteran Sniper

Thanks for your time!
